I insist upon a thresher maw romance option for ME3. If it isn't there I will hate Bioware forever.

What I wonder is why so many people assume that Quarians are blue, and that they look normalish rather than having Rakk Hives as faces, etc.
(not that I actually even know what quarians look like myself)

From what we can tell it seems to be mostly their chins which seem abnormal...otherwise usual, smooth skin, 2 eyes, 1 nose, mouth in approximately the right spot.

Personally the art I've seen of them being grey clicks the most for me.

I always assume Shepard's blank expression when he pulls Tali's visor off is not a good sign.

He just sits there. And then Tali jumps on him.

well when you get close up in some scenes, you do see ,under the visor, what appears to be an elfish nose and the two whitish eyes...from what I recall.

Doesn't stop her from having the mandible of a spider I suppose.

That's the model in-game for her at the moment right? If I recall, that model's just to provide some hint of features behind the mask, that's not what she actually looks like.

yeah. there are several points in the game where you can see the quarian features in profile. pretty sure if/when they reveal a quarian face in-game, it'll at least hew towards the human model. but you'd know better than me, right? :rotate:

Juc, apparently they establish their faces in novels also? (as curly stated)

Considering what a coincidence it is that the Asari happen to be babes by human standards....yeah the Quarians wont be ugly.

finally bothered to track down the relevant part

    http://masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Storyline_II#Two_Traitors

near the bottom of the section

obviously you have to read the novel yourself but that's where the quarian face is described

I'm thinking Quarians are going to turn out to look good too, but not because it makes any sense. Someone mentioned it before: if your skin never comes into contact with light for your entire life, then you're going to look like a cave fish.

Mass Effect has always been more of the future fantasy genre than the science-fiction genre and I'm cool with that.

  • EgosEgos God Hand Registered User regular
but not because it makes any sense.

Of course it won't make sense. The whole asari design is to be space babes , they weren't designed to make sense in the least. They basically admit as much on the Platinum Edition of ME1.

"You can guess I was thrilled at getting the task of designing space babes."

    .....
"They didn't like an androgenous approach, and they didn't like messing with the face. So instead we just added head tentacles which could look like stylish short hair in silhouette form."

  • curly haired boycurly haired boy Your Friendly Neighborhood Torgue Dealer Registered User regular
it's all about suspension of disbelief

quarians don't really make any sense (regarding their immune systems)

but vanguard charge goes through solid objects

i'm willing to forgive both in the name of space opera :P

the second set of movies were just as enjoyable as the first in their own way

and i don't care what Star Wars purists say, the Extended Universe is infinitely more interesting and enjoyable to partake of than the movies. Going into detail about how things work is how you suck audiences into your world that you created. how do you think LotR was such a popular book.

Reading Wookiepedia (Star Wars wiki) for all of the technology explanations and character bios is one of my favourite past times (or it was before I read most of it)

Are there any plans for a MASS EFFECT art book ? I have the one from HALF LIFE 2- RAISING THE BAR- and it's very interesting. Lots of concept art and sketches, photos of the models, descriptions of the creative process behind the look of the game. Were something similar to be published for ME I'd buy it in about three seconds.

I may be missing something here, but when did LoTR go into specifics about how things worked? The Silmarillion might, but I never could get into that.

Interestingly, you see a lot more detail of her face in ME1. I kinda picture her as elfin in appearance with the long narrow face and nose, high cheekbones, and thin jaw.

So I know this is going back a few pages, but the memory made me laugh. I had a lot of trouble with the Benezia fight.

    And I mean a lot.

But that was because it was all hells of bugged and when she'd push me down a box would land on me and I would be stuck doing nothing until the commando units killed me.
I eventually gave up and started a new game. Haven't had a problem since.

And I'm not sure I would blame them

I copped shitty physics in that fit. She stuck me inside a wall. I had to reload it, but I got it done the second try. Worst fight by far for me in ME1 was the Krogan Battlemaster on the planet you save Liara on. Took me ages to discover radiation rounds cut through him like wet paper.
