I am experimenting with Starcraft 2 Terran techniques.
My most recent failure was a Banshee gambit, where you slip one SCV out of your main base to one of the tertiary expos on the other side of the map, build in your main base with supply depots and mine as fast as humanly possible.
The expo serves as your new home base and banshee production facility. So far, it has failed because I can't get the damn things out fast enough. By the time the starports are up, my opponent is already starting to break in to my main base. By the time the banshees are ready, my opponent already had a swarm of midlevel mans that I can just barely take out in time to be crushed because my economy is weak from early expansion.
It's fun to experiment, I just wish my rank didn't drop each time.
I tried this - sort of - by floating a new command center into a blocked off area.
Didn't work. But mostly because my opponent was real good with air drops.

my only problem with rank dropping from experimenting is that experiments are useless against the new people it will match you against
On the other hand, you do eventually get to succeed with the experiments because of this. It's like a consolation prize.

I love that shirt because what the fuck, you know.
I like their new CD but not as much as the warning.
Because the warning is hotness. Well, 4 year old hotness.

Didn't work. But mostly because my opponent was real good with air drops.
The last guy I played with rushed me with zealots, ran into my supply depots, noticed my base was a ghost town, and scattered his initial rush force to every expansion on the map. He came back 3 minutes later to both my main base and secret airforce base with midlevel units, blinked in past the supply depots and rocks, and it was over.

Yeah... the only decent terran junk I can put together is either a space-Amadinajhad nuke fest or a big 'ole ball of MMM.
But - and I know this makes me an awful person - I love me some 6pool zergin'.

This is why proxy works a lot better when your base has some sort of fortitude. Things like proxy stargates and starports work best when main has a healthy compliment of gateways, tech buildings and units to defend.

one time I fell prey to the drone rush/buildbaseinsidemyhometurf trick
but never again
Oh?
Tell me about it.
So I can uh... defend against it.
yeah... defend against...
when at the very beginning of the game you send one of your workers to the enemy's base and start building your base in the remote corner of theirs, out of line of sight. I can't see it working on anyone twice though. Also don't know if it would work with zerg. They seem to be able to get fast expansions out, so. maybe.
I've been tryiiiiing roaches but man I guess I make too many zerglins'. I think I like me some zerg though.
Mutas and those suicidey guys are good times.
roach den at 18. While I have my queen coming. Then it's 40 seconds to 10+ roaches comin atcha
edit: don't bother with zerglings.
Not a good idea. If you play someone like me, I'll rush you with quick marines, zealots or lings and it's gg. People that tech straight to the 1.5 units generally lose to me.

Well, at least it's appropriately named.

It makes sense that she would be able to do that, since they're quite close. Should probably put in a line about that.
