The pound strengthened sharply after the first constituency result suggested the Conservatives may have secured a large enough swing for an overall majority. Sterling rose by nearly a cent to 1.482 dollars, and also climbed back above 1.17 euros.

    Huh.

    Also, another Labour MP in.

    We knew that going in.

Probably delusional but I really, really believed the LDs might turn it all around.

Go to the BBC website, they have predicted times for when the results of each constituency are in.

More of a glimmer of hope that the swing in a seat the Conservatives had half an eye on didn;t swing as much as the others?

I geuninely think we can put this down to age. This year's really proven that we can have a successful three party system, ot at least proven it to the young. I think the old don't really believe that we can have a third party - 'a vote for Lib Dems is a vote for [the primary opposition]', and all that. At least, that's the impression I get from my parents. My mother's always been Conservative (she reads the Daily Mail, ugh), but my father's always been Labour. This year he's gone Cons, I think because he doesn't think Lib Dems have a chance. I don't know what a failiure for Lib Dems to gain the expected number of votes will do for their chances in the future.

Haha, Fiona Bruce did it again! She's really happy Nigel Farage had a plane crash.

I don't think they should show that photo at all.

    538 again:

"Sunderland Central next. We are at Labour 38%, Con 30%, LD 18% here. Uniform swing is at Labour 42%, Con 29%, LD 17%."

    Labour 46%
    Cons 30%
    LD 17%

Con and LD on track in all declared races, labour all over shop.
