Our new Indie Games subforum is now open for business in G&T. Go and check it out, you might land a code for a free game. If you're developing an indie game and want to post about it, follow these directions. If you don't, he'll break your legs! Hahaha! Seriously though.
Our rules have been updated and given their own forum. Go and look at them! They are nice, and there may be new ones that you didn't know about! Hooray for rules! Hooray for The System! Hooray for Conforming!
So that other series on Showtime, besides Dexter and Weeds. Final season started last Sunday and I just got around to watching it. If you haven't gotten into it, Showtime has seasons 1 through 3 showing right now (kind of like what they did with the Summer of Dexter before the most recent season aired.) Lots of intrigue, great sets, lots of sex.
So as for the end of season 3 and the start of season 4:
Spoiler:
Didn't see Cromwell's death coming to be honest, that kind of veered away from canon, but of course a lot has. I forget if his latest wife is beheaded or not in real life, which again isn't any guarantee they'll do it in the show, but she looks like she will have problems later with Mr. Stare-Eyes and her past with Attending Lady Loose Lips. As always the costumes and sets are awesome. She is certainly living it up and having fun, I guess the king is just happy not to have a wife involved in politics.
Lady Eri on
The Wheel of Calculadon turns, and then suddenly? Orbital lasers.
I would think more people here would like great shows. I am going to go ahead and demerit everyone who watches SG:U but doesn't watch this. Tomorrow we will be demeriting the fan base of another terrible show.

Ha I made a Tudors thread a few weeks ago, and it sank like a rock. This season has been good so far but I am hoping you know who will be dead next week.
I recall the first season seeming pretty close to a non-expert's (me) notion of events. Also, I recall hearing Henry VIII was supposed to be athletic and handsome until he took a fall off a horse during a joust after which he became increasingly fat (until at some point he needed to be carried about).

Pretty much.
To quote Hirst who made the show: "Showtime commissioned me to write an entertainment, a soap opera, and not history ... And we wanted people to watch it."
For instance:
Time is conflated in the series, giving the impression that things happened closer together than they actually did or along a different timeline. For example King Henry VIII ascended to the throne in April 1509 and married Catherine in June 1509 both before his 18th birthday. His marriage to Anne Boleyn did not occur until 1533 some 24 years later and by which time Henry was 42 years old. In The Tudors, the two are cast younger (and seemingly closer in age) and the courtship lasts about ten episodes.

This was how Henry VIII looked:
I bet he looked worse then that. The artist prolly had to use photoshop on his painting of royalty

i don't mean thing like quiet anachronisms
i mean like
this guy dies but in real life he didn't?
I think once or twice. I mean it certainly hangs to the spirit of it all. I doubt the real King Henry was this sexy either.
(i know that is george the iv not henry but whatever)
I did feel bad for Cromwell even though he was a bastard in many ways.
It's too bad they won't be continuing on to the stories of his daughters. I know there's the Elizabeth movies but there's more they could tell.
