After getting HR31 yesterday (Thanks guys!), I got swept away by my loving wife to go shopping! And when I came back, it was her turn to have the TV.

When she was all done, I just hopped on single player because I suddenly got the urge to complete my Ceadeus armor set. Well, after 6 kills, I say fuck you, you big one eyed horny fish! 2% to carve, and 2% to drop Deep Dragongem is crap. Of course, I think that's the same rate as the Earth Dragongem, and I have 2 of those! I'm not sure why I really want that set, but I think it looks cool so...I shall farm 2 more kills out of him before I hop back online. Wish me luck.

You saw me wearing it and just had to have it. Also I have like 4 deep dragongems they just wont stop carving. However it took me 5 kills to get all the horns I needed.

I don't like the looks much, personally. But, Evasion+2, man. I'm a Lancer, I can't resist something like that!

For looks, I'm making Uragaan Gunner. Because I like looking like a Gundam. But this requires a stupid amount of jaws, which are really annoying to break, and I never find anyone willing to help me farm Ura.

Problem is, as mentioned, that I never find anyone with such a hammer and such a will, I'm afraid. And I myself know nothing of Hammers, it being basically the only weapon type I have never truly used.

We usually place a pitfall and lay all our bombs that we can on it. As soon as the monster falls in usually Klyka runs in and places a small bomb to set them all off. Then we wade in for a few hits as usual.

    Only 5?

Mmmmm... I usually gun Ura, Uragaan falls asleep from 7 lvl 1 sleep rounds, and bombs do more damage on wakeup, so 2 Large Barrel Bomb+ on wakeup plus the 9 rapidfire Cragshots to the jaw plus the normal 3 LBBs on trapping might be enough to break it playing alone. And since breaking it is a subquest, I might be able to actually farm jaws by myself!

Fuck this capture Qurupeco. Fuck these capture quests period! Pain in the ass. Tried the R.Ludroth one and ended up killing him. Tranqs did nothing. Did the Qurupeco one just now and got him weak and he moved to area 8. Knocked him off his feet and then threw a trap down. Sonofabitch flew off to area 7...... WHY!? It's not supposed to do that. So now I have no traps, atleast I can't use them because there's a trap in another area that's not been triggered. FUUUUUUUUUUUCK.
Tranqed him any way and kept pounding on him. Basically, I kept alternating between tranqing him and beating on him. In the end Cha Cha ended up killing him. Li'l bitch.

Not with some canny positioning; place the large bombs close to his chin, then place the small bomb so it's blast radius will hit the other bombs but not the monster.

As long as you're using shots, you might as well trigger the bombs with those.

Capture quests are easy. Bring Capture Guru on your quests. Either full Bone armor or you insert 5 Perception Jewels (2 Giggi Stingers + Aquaglow Jewel) into your current armor. Paintball the creature. Wait for the Paintball to start flashing on the map (25% Health or less). Trap them (Bring extra traps. Really. Makes things easier), catch them with 2 Tranqs. Not that much different from a normal hunt.

Also, if he's weak, you might want to wait for him to go to the nest area first, before starting the trap procedure.

I'd really love to find a Perception charm or something - Bnahabra armor isn't exactly swimming in slots, but Capture Guru would be an amazing timesaver.

    Nice work Jam!

And Fencat, you can be real happy about that,I really wouldn't wish anyone the same troubles with getting it that I had.

So you two better grind some more HR while I'm at work so we can kill Jhen M. real quick and start the 4* questing!

@Airan: Well,it IS only 30 minutes long ;) But basically, you want to break his weakpoints and both tusks in the "ship ride" phase (also make sure to hit him with the dragonator!) and then during the final showdown we usually have two people attacking his feet while the other two use the ballista binder and the ballista when he is far away and then once he is close enough for the cannons, all 4 people keep shelling him with it. Use gong, ballista binder and eventually dragonator and he usually goes down around the "5 minutes left" mark.

Yeah, I just tried him again with 2 others, and we got wiped at the 2 min mark again. I was trying to slice his feet, while the others were shelling him, then we got wiped to a tusk sweep and tail sweep at once.
I think I'll go farm in SP for now. Lost a ton of honey to that PoS :x
Your mistake is that you were doing any kind of melee attacks on him in the second half at all. Just do cannons and ballista.

A perfect Jhen fight would go like this:

-Fight starts, everyone rushes to fill up on Ballista ammo, and then shoots the Left tusk.

-Guy with the Ballista Binder uses it to stop the Big body slam that happens shortly after Jhen parks alongside. Also a great opportunity to put the free EZ Bombs they give you on the edge of the boat near his arm and set him off with a paintball.

-Shortly after that, it will be possible to jump on Jhen's back via his rear left fin, the guy who got the Anti-Dragon bombs jumps on and plants both on the -Right- tusk. Everyone else keeps bombing with Cannons.

-Jhen moves to the Left side of the boat: Use hunting gong to stop his charge. Everyone use Ballistas at this point to destroy his tusks. When that's finished, everyone jump on his back to whack at the 2 cracks. If/When those are destroyed, go back to cannons

-Jhen goes to the front of the ship: one person use the Dragonator at the right time while everyone else gathers ballista ammo (save it for the final showdown).

-Jhen moves back to Right side, keep bombing with cannons

-Final Showdown begins, open fire with Ballistas, aim high so they reach. Cannons at this point do not have the range to reach him.

-When Jhen gets super closer and does his massive belly flop slam, interrupt it with the Gong. Next belly slam, Dragonator, next one, Ballista Binder.

-All the while, keep going with Cannons. Jhen should be dead somewhere around the 5 min left mark.

Yeah, I think I'll take you up on that Bone armor advice Hahnsoo1, did start a set but got sidetracked with the Jaggi set. Also, is it 1 tranq straight after the other or is it 1 tranq, then a beating, then another tranq?
Two tranqs in a row. They can hit any place on the monster's body (like a paintball).

Tranqing is slightly different in this game than Unite... either that, or I didn't notice before what they changed. In Unite (at least, I think), the procedure was Trap, then 2 Tranqs. If you hit with 2 tranq bombs then drop the trap and the Monster goes into the trap soon, then it may get immediately captured. You can hit it with 2 tranqs before it is capturable in a trap, beat on it, and then when its health is low enough it will immediately get captured. In other words, Tri doesn't care about the order in which your Tranqs and Traps are used. The Tranq Bombs eventually wear off over time, but I'm not sure what the window is. I think it is around 30 seconds or so.

See, that last bit is what annoyed me. I could have easily set up a another trap if I hadn't already had the EZ-shock trap deployed in a previous area. Still, good to know for sure the way it works. Thanks man. Will try again.

I think with the lifepowders they give you and smart usage of traps and hunting horns and flash bombs and stuff, it's really not so bad! And it gives at least one plan per run, but can give more. I got four one of the times I did it yesterday : D

Not to mention the fact when you fight 2 monsters together they have reduced HP. Or so I heard.

God dammit. I'm gonna need 11 incomplete plans for my lance. I hope they drop more than one per event.

I've gotten no plans twice now. However the other two times I've gotten 3 plans. It's a crap shoot.

Lately our group has started using bombs.

That breaks everything so quick,it's almost disgusting. Uragaans jaw breaks from 5 bombs.

    Only 5?

I must know your bow set up
