The Green Hornet is a masked crimefighter first featured on American radio in the 1930s. By day he is mild-mannered newspaper publisher BRITT REID, but at night he and his assistant KATO don masks and take to the streets in their super badass car, the BLACK BEAUTY, to take on crime in all its forms. Their trick is that even though they're heroes, they still have such a bad reputation with law enforcement that they're able to get closer to the criminal syndicates than they normally could, though you'd think they'd catch on after a while. I have some tapes of the old radio shows, which were pretty rad, along with a bunch of Shadow radio stories but that's neither here nor there.
(There was also a nifty little fact that Britt Reid is the Lone Ranger's great-nephew.)
After he got big on the radio, some comics came along:
There was also a TV series for a while in the 60s, which I really enjoyed re-runs of (and which had Bruce mo'fuckin' Lee as Kato):
And now there's a feature film starring Seth Rogen, Jay Chou, Christoph Waltz and Cameron Diaz, and directed by Michel Gondry!
The trailer for which just premiered:

And we can also talk about the Shadow and the Phantom if you want, they have a similar pulpy vibe.

Nicolas Cage had the role originally but had to drop out. I'm really glad Waltz has it now.
Oh man really?
wow, just wow
the difference there is staggering
Yeah, he announced back in 2006 that he officially has nothing to do with this project.
They're always campy in an awesome way by the end of the story, but the vocal atmosphere produced is really good. Kinda wish we still had radio dramas. A well done one is an excellent experience that just isn't entirely replaced by even an equally well done TV show.
Not to mention the difference in me wanting to watch it.
I knew about this whole Seth Rogen Green Hornet thing
What I did not know was Michel Gondry directing
Gonna watch the trailer now
Well he played both the hero and the villain of Face/Off, as did John Travolta. And then there was:

But January? Way to have no faith in the film, movie studios
Yeah, I'm worried about that.

We're talking about the Phantom!
But then I just have to say that he was the "bad guy in Titanic"
And now there's that Sci-Fi miniseries but I think the less said about that the better.
dude isn't really that fat, he puts on weight for movies. he explains it that people find fat people funnier for most forms of comedy.
plus he probably gets to eat like shit
Such a terrific film.

I like pulpy films like this
And I love Alec Baldwin
But I have not seen The Shadow, and I should rectify this immediately
Should he be tripping through his dreams or memories or something? Or maybe the film could be comprised entirely of Legos?
