I'm surprised I haven't seen anybody mention the live-action Smurf trailer that ran before the movie. Was I the only one upon whom that was inflicted?
I saw it, but I don't remember them actually showing anything. The whole thing was basically an announcement that yes, they're actually that desperate for ways to get nostalgia money from Gen X'ers.
Didn't get it in my theatre. No TRON trailer, either. All we got was "Despicable Me" and "mega mind" Both which looked like crap.
Oh, we also got a bunch of commercials.

Movie was great, though I didn't get choked-up like I did in Up.
Man, the ending left me hoping to see a 4th Toy Story movie, which is a sensation I wasn't expecting. All of the new toys had personalities I really wanted to see a little more of

Supposedly there will be a Toy Story short in front of Cars 2
As for Lotso, clearly the reason to buy him would be to
Tie him to the grill of your pickup truck.

Im sure I would have enjoyed Up a lot more had I seen it before Toy Story 3. Like, I really dont think any movie which attempts to appeal to my youth or pull my heart strings in a joyus way will stand up to Toy Story 3 for quite some time.
So my girlfriend told me last night that she wants to see this again. So this'll be viewing #3 for me and viewing #2 for her. I think we'll probably hit The Prytania this go-round due to my previous negative experience.
Unfortunately doing that means we're forced to see it in 3D.

I hate that it sucks some of the vibrancy out of the colors, it tacks a couple of dollars on the tickets, and wearing the glasses over my actual glasses is a pain, sometimes literally.

The glasses thing I understand. I have glasses too. I also have Behind the Ear hearing aids, so I have TWO sets of glasses pushing those outwards. But I got used to it about 10 minutes it.
The worst part is having to take both sets of glasses off to wipe my eyes.

Yeah, I also have to wear normal glasses.
The hassle is worth it for stuff like Coraline and Nightmare Before Christmas, I guess because it gives me an idea of the physicality of the models and helps me appreciate them more, but with CG I don't feel the visual experience is too different. I forget I'm watching a 3D film, and then I stop appreciating the difference.
That said, the short was brilliant to watch in 3D.
Yeah, the short was actually the best use of 3D I've seen so far. As well as being exceedingly clever and generally awesome.

Lotso was an excellent name, I loved the whole situation there. Loved hearing Jeff Garland and another pixar movie, knew I heard whoopie goldberg but I need to look up who everyone else was.
when
baby threw lotso into the garbage I thought hard of Darth Vader, don't know if that's just a coincidence, I would think so but it made me happy
this was excellent, I wasn't expecting something this good going on
smallest of the small complaints
I get playing You've got a friend in me in spanish as it is funny, but if this is meant to be the end of a trilogy I would have really liked to hear the actual song all the way through at the end. Maybe it's my fault for expecting it but I was somewhat disappointed.
but that's my only complaint at all, I loved this.
Now, Tangled, that looked fun. Though I do find it interesting how almost every time someone goes back to the old Rapunzel myth with a more modern eye, their response is to make her able to use her hair as some form of weapon and kick ass. I like it, but I find it interesting.
Sadly, I just don't think I could take the owl movie seriously. It already looked like pretty generic fantasy, but...they're owls. Though we'll see. It might be badass, for all I know.
The books in the series that I read in middle school are very generic, young kids to young adult kind of fantasy novels, so the movie probably won't be that much different.
Man I want to look forward to Tangled so bad, but part of me just really wishes they used that gorgeous visual style for a more traditional Rapunzel movie. The directors did Bolt, which I actually bought on DVD because I enjoyed it so much, so I am optimistic but....
I am just kind of burned out on the whole tongue-in-cheek fantasy thing, I think. But did I mention that the visuals were gorgeous? Because oh god I could look at her hair all day long. I will pay to see a movie starring that hair.

The movie's gorgeous, but there's something about her face that bothers me. The eyes are too big for her head or...something, I dunno.
I'm still excited to see it though. With Lasseteer in charge I'm more or less going to give all of Disney's animated films their fair shake from here on out.
On the subject of death and daemons disappearing: arrows sure are effective in Lyra's universe. Seems like if you get shot once, you're dead - no lingering deaths with your daemon huddling pitifully in your arms, just *thunk* *argh* *whoosh*. A battlefield full of the dying would just be so much more depressing when you add in wailing gerbils and dogs.

It's the eyes. They see you. They see all of you.
Saw this movie and it was fantastic. Not much left to say that hasn't been said.
I felt that Toy Story 3 was better than Toy Story 2, but not as good as Toy Story 1 or Up or Wall-E or The Incredibles or Finding Nemo or... most Pixar movies. There wasn't anything wrong with it, but the lack of originality that comes with being a third movie made it somewhat less interesting than the average Pixar film.
I wasn't disappointed, though; the movie was exactly as good as I expected it to be. Which means "good, but not as radtacular as the last few movies these guys made."

I have to say it worked for me as well as wall-e and nemo which are currently my two favorites.

I don't understand.
Toy Story 2 was better than Toy Story 1, so how could 3 be better than 2 but not 1? Does not compute.

Yeah, Toy Story 3 is the best of the Toy Stories and it's definitely one of Pixar's best after WALL*E, Finding Nemo and maybe Cars and The Incredibles.

I haven't watched it yet - I'll wait for monday because the school holidays end then and I might as well wait a bit.

Edited that into a link since Tripod is still Tripod.
And that is an eerie similarity. Although huge eyes are an animation tradition anyway.
Or you could just watch Seven Samurai or The Magnificent Seven instead of that piece of shit movie.
Yeah, might as well.
