Bizzarely, the most trustworthy vamp in the game I found was Strauss of the tremere. For a vampire that comes from a clan that has a reputation for being conniving back stabbing oportunists to those outside of there own, Strauss doesn't screw around with you at all and will (provided you didn't go and shit in his coffee) back you up at the end of the game.

Frankly, the ending where he becomes prince is probably my favourite, since it means I don't get screwed and I don't have to buddy up to nines.

I doubt he stayed Prince for long. Either the Pyramid shuffled things around, or someone wanted him dead. Tremere never keep power like that; they're too distrusted.

Of course, they're not a clan anyone wants to screw with; they're too tightly organized.

(Not like it matters; Gehenna had to have been just around the corner. :P)

    Per Jack:
    Spoiler:

And for going nosferatu the first time around, I don't feel like I really missed out on anything. Why would I care about not having options like seduce when I can just intimidate to get what I want? Plus, dancing nosferatu in leather gear was well worth the loss of other social interactions. I could never pass up a chance to threaten the lives of everyone in a club by dancing with those clawed death-hands.

Strauss does jerk you around a bit with the whole gargoyle thing.

If you're a Tremere and you tell Isaac where the gargoyle came from you see the other side of Strauss.

I get the feeling that a Tremere PC that does that won't be living long after the end credits. As if you didn't have enough enemies already.

If you don't go Camarilla, you're probably dead anyway. The pyramid doesn't like traitors.

See, that's not him fucking with you though. That's a case of you taking a shit in his coffee and *rightfully* getting cheesed off.

I dunno. If you side with the Anarchs, you do have some powerful allies of your own on your side (ie Jack, Isaac, and Nines, whether you like him or not). Besides, by the end of the game, while you are no antedivullian, you are a pretty competent vampire in your own right, able to hold your own against plenty of other powerful vampires.

The only way I could see you getting screwed is if you do the solo ending.

The Tremere could very well leave the protagonist be, but if they start sharing clan secrets to the Anarchs, the clan would find a way, (s)he'd be dust.

This is the clan that found a way to wipe out every single Tremere Antitribu without exception.

It's Gehenna. All the elders went out like that, more or less. They had no powers.

Only Theo rose above it, because Theo is Theo.

Nines can come off as preachy, self-righteous and kind of insufferable at times, especially in your first few interactions with him.

"Here I am... the most veteran soldier on the battlefield."
"I've got their meeting right here."
    etc.

Not to mention the fact that he refuses to admit that the Camarilla basically saved him (and every other Anarch in LA) from getting massacred by the Kuei-Jin. Personally I like Nines despite his faults, and when I'm actually role-playing my dude it's hard for me not to side with him in the end, because, you know, he saved my life at least twice. But I can also see how he rubs some people the wrong way.

Still, he's a better guy than all the other Anarchs. Jack has his own schemes in mind; Isaac is basically the same old Camarilla-type elder vampire pushing his weight around and leaning on his subordinates, he's just got some fashionably liberal politics so he can pretend he's a man of the people. Skelter is alright, I guess, and Damsel is... well, Damsel.

I do have to say that, for all their Brujah roid-raging, I prefer the Downtown Anarchs to their Hollywood counterparts. At least the guys downtown were willing to get their hands dirty if it came down to it. The Hollywood set seemed like they just wanted to sit back and run their front businesses and let Nines' crew (and you) do all the heavy lifting.

Of course, that could be because Hollywood is mostly Toreador. The only one I don't really mind is Ash; yeah, he's wallowing in self-pity and all that, but he didn't ask for his shitty vampire existence, he had it forced on him.

That is just a perfect end for him, I think. All things considering.

I should reinstall this and play through as something brawny-combat-related. My only playthroughs have been Anarch Toreador (Lots of presence, melee/guns) and Loyal Ventrue (Lots of presence, melee/guns... wait). I was thinking about Tremere or Malkavian, though.

I think I've chosen variations of the "fuck you all, I'm on my own" just about every time I've finished the game, I'm doing a Tremere run where I stay loyal to Strauss this time around. I've never finished a Nosferatu run but my first attempt wasn't very fun so I'm not sure I'd want to.

There's an LA book. If I remember correctly he's a hermetic acolyte that some "goth chick" nommed on.

Or maybe I'm thinking of another Tremere.

There are some hardcore Ventrue. Look at Jan Pieterzoon in the Ventrue clan novel.

Man takes out a whole pack of Sabbat almost single-handed.
(Granted, Theo saves his hide in the end)

And OP: I will cut you.

Quick question: Playing this on steam, got the 15mb memory error so I used the fix in the OP. When installing it, it says it will only work with the 1.2 patch, does this mean if I install the wesp unofficial patch it will break again?

It works now, but if the unofficial patch is going to break it again I'll have to reinstall the whole game and it will take ages on this connection.

Sorry to raise the thread from the grave, but I've been getting the 15 mb error on win 7 w/ 4 gb memory, and none of the patches actually fix it - nor does limiting the available memory to 3 gb. Any ideas of how to fix it?

Sorry, I didn't make it very clear, but I've already tried that patch, plus the latest unofficial patch that incorporates it.

I fidgeted with my memory more and got it to run once I set my max RAM to 2 gb, but I shouldn't have to do that. I know that the 6.9 patch that SHOULD fix the memory error is installed because now I've seen the game running on my machine and the changes it makes are there.

Also, even after I get it running this way, the game is stuck running in windowed mode even if I set it to the same res as my monitor (thus cutting off part of the screen if I choose to do so).

    Ideas?
