Are hat drops rare? All I ever get are weapons, it seems.

Though I did get the dead ringer the other night. (Finally)

Since the item drop system came out, I've gotten two hats from random drops. One of the others I put together from weapon drops, and the other I built out of Camera Bears when they went from being an "uncommon accessory" to full hats.

I can only imagine how many hats someone would have if they could see the future. Keeping every item until this recent 2 items = 1 scrap recipe. Do you remember how many items people deleted before crafting existed because backpacks just got clogged? Or all those people who crafted unnecessary recipes like class/slot tokens to try them out? We could have been swimming in hats.

    I think I've gotten 5 hat drops.

3 of them have been the Engineer non-hat. It is getting annoying.

Are you a bald texan? Or perhaps a baldie majoring in engineering?

The game wants you to have that hat. For some purpose...

I'm not even close to those things. I barely even play Engineer. Maybe it wants me to. But if it wanted me to, it would give me a cooler hat.

well if texas ten gallon is pistol engi, we have to figure out what the other hats are

i would hazard a guess that the bald engineer is the kind that does hoedowns

    non

    stop

preferably on top of his sentry or dispenser

If he does them non stop, how is he going to be able to build the sentry or dispenser.

    DUH.

if you were fast enough you could probably make one between hoedowns... this is a conundrum only the engineer could solve

This is why it's easy to get points playing spy on PL defense. +1 for backstab, +1 for kill, +1 for defense

Yes, starting out with spy is easy, but as soon as you get a few chain kills in, the other team goes all (mostly) pyro...it's at that point sticking with it that becomes harder.

    BLOG UPDATE!
    Listen!
    June 30, 2010 - TF2 Team

Do you hear that? That ominous, otherworldly silence? That's what we in the game biz call the calm before a storm. And keep listening... do you hear that distant rumble? We call that thunder. It happens during a storm whenever it's not quiet.

All of these portents can only mean one thing: Something big is happening. The fact that everybody else on the team keeps telling me that it's only weather, and that weather can't talk to you, tells me they're all in on it. (And possibly not human? More on this later.)

Perhaps it's the upcoming Polycount Pack update making the hair on the back of my neck stand up, and the Australia-shaped hair on my back matte itself back down, since it means we'll be shipping the best of the amazing Polycount Contest entries. Be glad you're not one of us, forced to order that list of magnificent items into some kind of hierarchy. Maybe we'll just announce they've all won first place.

    tf2_wiki.jpg

Or maybe it's the release of the Official TF2 Wiki that's made weather choose me as its emissary on Earth. Developed by the administrators of the unofficial TF2 wiki, it's a perfect place to find out everything you ever wanted to know about TF2, but were too afraid to type into Google. Head over there and see if you can help them out. If you're a useful enough contributor, the weather might talk to you too. It might even point out which of the people on your team aren't real humans. Then we could compare notes.

Or maybe, just maybe, it's something else entirely.

A part of me wants to believe that they know the engineer update is so awesome that if they do not give each and every other class something new as well then everyone will play engineers and no one will have any fun.

If I was kidnapped, woke up in a lab, told they were going to replace my vocal cords with those of Tony Jay, and lock me in a sound booth until the day I die I would look those bastards right in the eye and say "Alright you sons of bitches lets do this. This one is for the children."

The Polycount entries leave me in despair for the fate of my dinky little meat cleaver. Even setting aside the ones that are too silly to fit the game's themes (there is such a thing), you pretty much have a year's worth of community updates there.

I am assuming they're waiting for the Polycount contest to end so that they can release a lot of different items at once with the Engineer update, thus preventing Engineer spam.

Wasn't the tf2wiki a bunch of pages where everyone said to never trust the data in it?

Is it suddenly good data because Valve absorbed it?
