im sorry tropic thunder was pretty okay and everything but, like everything ever on this forum, it is overhyped to death
i don't even think that pineapple express using danny mcbride much more efficiently and to more hilarious extent than tropic thunder can ever be up to debate
every scene with him in pineapple express was like finding a diamond in a pile of gold
honestly the thing that bothered me the much about tropic thunder was rdj and i know that it's a dissenting opinion but really, it was a dude in blackface. that's what it boiled down to. i understand that they were trying to show how far this character took his acting preparations, but it just wasn't that funny.
the only parts i felt were overly hilarious were
the trailers at the beginning, probably some other stuff in the beginning that i can't remember, the lead farmer thing was pretty funny, and jack black talking about sucking off dudes. oh also the baby stabbing ben stiller at the end
did hot fuzz come out that year? that was a better action-comedy. much better.

i was going to see if rottentomatoes agreed with me on the pineapple express / tropic thunder thing but tt got way more positive reviews
to be fair though, a lot of the positive reviews on rottentomatoes sound suspiciously like negative reviews. this goes for all movies, not just the ones i don't like.
It wasn't too great. Really my main beef is all the pointless changes to things, that other folks have been pointing out. Somehow the movie felt really rushed even while feeling slow-paced. Scene after scene of stuff being crammed into your brain with hardly a chance to really get to know the characters, beyond what they directly tell you about themselves.
I don't regret going to see it, though. It wasn't THAT bad.
edit: I thought Aang was a pretty rad little dude.

it's just that actors and their bitchyness are hilarious, which is why RDJ's performance in tropic thunder was so great

i like how the one dude that gave airbender a positive review was Colin Covert.
i've met this dude and he is a weird guy. creepy and pretty damn stuck up.
Ugh, I hated that even mediocre episodes had important plot threads and were thus required viewings
I wanted so bad to skip the first Kyoshi Island and Jet episodes when I was rewatching the show with a friend.
But no. The shitty episode where "Aang and company learn an important lesson about gender stereotypes" also introduces an important supporting character and a recurring Avatar spirit.
I've been rewatching it via netflix and so far all I've skipped is the Great Divide, because its stupid and has no important character development or plot points.
At a con I was working when there was a staff only access tunnel between the hotel and the convention center. This was funny the first couple times and then after the first 30 times I wish that episode never existed.
The bear episode, however, can never die.

Yeah. I liked it, mostly for the Zuko side story, but also because of the hippies.
I think Season 2 was my favorite, you see a lot with them growing into their roles.
