One planet, you get to drive the Hammerhead around, and a female counterpart to SHODAN.
So far I'm about an hour in and not too bad. Nice atmosphere, decent fights, and already had some specific dialogue referencing a ...specific... squad member.
So far no new squad dialogue though.
I didn't hear any in my full run through. But Shepard talked!

There's no new weapons in it, but you do get a good couple hours of play out of it, nice fights, and a pretty cool ending.
I'd say a maybe? If it was 10 I'd say no, but 7 just might be ok for it.
Good little story with a lot of attention to atmosphere. There are two particularly good fights.
It's all on one planet so once you start you are in for the long haul.
If you are a completest you will most likely find the Hammerhead section a chore. And it's only around two hours of content, if that is information you need for your decision.
Partly because I know its going to be terrible and wreck my dreams and hopes and make me go on a murderous rampage with a chainsaw and a shoe buffer.
Which is weird, considering all it did was remove her tattoos.
But last time I played I was trying with the Vanguard on Hardcore and while the charge was cool, dying almost every time I used it (even at rank 4) got old, so I'm thinking of making a Soldier (since my only victorious game was as an Infiltrator)

Try Vanguard again
because it sounded like you didn't give it enough of a chance the first time
once you get better defensive equipment and upgraded weapons it becomes much, much more rewarding
My first play through was as Vanguard on Hardcore and it was tough in spots, but once I learned how combat worked it got much better.
Especially now that the new smg and shotgun have been added it should be even easier.
