Up in yo [Grill] ( Brand and Quality Suggestions )
I dunno how much of an issue money is, but here is a way to make a poor man's porterhouse grill. You can find the stuff for it after about 5 minutes in a Lowe's or something of the sort.
Weber is very nice, but it translates price-wise. To really narrow it down you need a bit more information:
How many people do you normally cook for?
What types of foods? You mention steak, but do you do anything with rotisseries, pork, etc?
What's your price range?
weber is good but you are paying for the name. we have a charbroil 4 burner grill that has a large cooking area and heats up super fast/maintains heat so you use less gas.
Also, how soon do you need the grill?
I mean, if you can wait a few months, they tend to go on sale around the middle of fall to early winter.
You can generally get a lot more grill for your buck then.
*This is in Colorado though. If you live someplace where normal people grill all year round (as opposed to freaks like me who don't mind shoveling a bit of snow for mid-winter brats), YMMV.
Maybe not useful, but if money is an issue, you can do pretty much everything you'd want to do on a propane grill instead on a cast iron skillet on a stovetop (especially true for steaks) - you're looking at maybe $20 for the pan rather than $100+ for an outdoor grill. Go the cast iron unless you really need the large surface area of an outdoor grill.
We were in the market for a grill at the start of the season and after looking at reviews and initially balking at the price, we went with the $500 Weber E310. It has 3 horizontal burners, cooks great, is built like a tank, and if you get it at Home Depot (at least in Chicago, since Weber is a Chicagoland business I believe), you can get it with iron grates instead of the porcelain (although that seems like a personal preference).

got it at lowes and its awesome

You're probably talking about the Charbroil 4-Burner infrared, retails for $499 with a three burner version for $399. Infrared uses 40% less propane per tank because of its higher cooking temperature and fast heat up, and is fantastic for steaks/burgers. It is indeed quite nice, but a lot of people don't want to put up that much money.
If we can get an answer to the three qualifying questions I posted earlier from the OP, I can narrow down some possible options.
Weber is what to go with mate. Yes, you will pay a surcharge for the name ... but the name has value because the product is rock solid. It will last you for the rest of your life if you take proper care of it. Hands down the best propane grills on the market.
I've got the Summit S-470 ... stainless steel cooking surface, side burner, rotisserie, smoker box, searing element, four burners ... very even temp throughout.
I know this isn't OT but when I saw this thread my first instinct was to think that you were buying a face grill. You know, rappers and platinum? Made doubly amusing by the fact that I still hadn't mentally adjusted to what you were really after until I got past the grandfather part. I was like "Damn, hardcore grampa."
Carry on.
"Sometimes things aren't complicated," I said. "You just have to be willing to accept the absolute corruption of everybody involved."
