Our new Indie Games subforum is now open for business in G&T. Go and check it out, you might land a code for a free game. If you're developing an indie game and want to post about it,
follow these directions. If you don't, he'll break your legs! Hahaha! Seriously though.
Our rules have been updated and given
their own forum. Go and look at them! They are nice, and there may be new ones that you didn't know about! Hooray for rules! Hooray for The System! Hooray for Conforming!
New Comic 7-23-10: "Blood and Oil, Part 1"

I approve
Question, though--why do G&T farm out their "secondary" stories (Lookouts, Automata)? I understand that they sometimes need to have guest comics to fill in the schedule, but I'd really like to see more of their own vision for these worlds.
Too bad we have to wait all weekend for the next one now.
Getting used to again? Did you spend Monday, Wednesday, and Friday of the last 3 months at a methadone clinic or something?
It seems like these stories would be easier to give to other artists. They've created a great concept for a world, but they haven't fully fleshed out the setting or the characters within it. This allows guest artists and writers to come up with their own interpretation rather than trying to emulate the writing and art of the main PA strip. It also works better for a multi-strip format, which allows them to track down one writer and one artist to help out.
I think this strip is really great and I can't wait to see where they go with it.
Oh hey, cool. Thanks.

Make them give you a comic book series!

I'm pretty sure people felt this way about Lookouts as well. Nothing against this, it's pretty great and I'm sure I'll enjoy it, but I wanted that thing I fell in love with. This ain't it, at least visually.
I have a color sketch of Wonder Woman drawn by Gary that I got for my wife since she has a thing for WW. It is really awesome.

I'm sure Mike will get back to it at some point. For now, just enjoy an alternate take on Automata.
Same with Lookouts.
That movie was p. sweet. Well done.

I too don't see what was so incomprehensible about the panels going left-to-right, top-to-bottom and the speech bubbles within them going left-to-right, top-to-bottom.
So confusing!
But, hey, guest comic. People gotta bitch.
Which would also suck.
yes that is what i meant, isn't telekinesis by nature a line-of-sight thing
edit: why am i continuing this discussion, my point is, this comic rocks and i found it slightly hard to follow the bubbles but it wasn't a huge deal

I did enjoy this comic, though
And no I don't want to hear a comparison between this guest artist and the last, I like them both.
If Pennies Arcadian ever do do a nice big hardcover Automata book (please oh please oh please oh please!), I think they should have you guys back and help out. Maybe do a couple of chapters or whatever.
This is a really nice start to my weekend.
Dudes who want to piss and moan about this not being done by Gabe & Tycho, get the fuck over yourselves and try something new for a change. You might even like it!
