RIP Ted Stevens - He's with the Tubes now.

He survived a previous plane crash where his first wife died? Man.
If faith is just a silent tribute, mine is just a desperate act.
either way, they'll play the tubular bells at his funeral
You don't get on the plane the second time around.
If faith is just a silent tribute, mine is just a desperate act.
a wealthy politician, where do you think?
It's a small plane, so there's not really much difference between front and back comfort-wise.
edit: It looks like it was this kind of plane: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/De_Havilland_Canada_DHC-3_Otter
Which means you'd be more comfortable in the back since it's furthest from the engines.
Like an elephant, wherever he wants to.
Also, CNN's headline is amusing. "Ted Stevens may have been on plane that crashed in Alaska".
Not even a "May have died on plane." They won't even confirm he was on the plane to begin with.
So we come back to Twitter being really bad if you want to actually know what's going on. Too much noise.
No, I am not really communist. Yes, it is weird that I use this name.
And yeah, poor guy, and with luck our information has been faulty. But either way people on that plane died.
Alaskan politicians need to stop being on planes so much. First Nick Begich (and Hale Boggs), now Stevens, possibly.
Now he's crashed there again, on the same make of plane and possibly died?
So I'm not hopeful, but am going to wait for official word.
Like I said. Final Destination.

The moose are voting from the mountaintops.
Also, the person who gave the statement confirming Stevens dead to the media is now backing off his statement, but it's too late to stop everyone snowballing the story. He may or may not be among the dead, but it's unconfirmed who is and isn't.
It could also have to do with the fact that its hard to get around Alaska without a plane. Thus people fly more often in Alaska.

But yeah, we're not going to know anything for certain until much later today.
But god, that's just...
That sucks for those that have been killed, it sucks for everybody else as well to be the survivors. Survivor guilt is a shitty thing.
MSNBC is confirming 4 survivors out of the 9, but cannot and will not confirm anything as to who is still alive or not.
You have to fight through some bad days, to earn the best days of your life.
There doesn't even appear to be a road from it to Anchorage (from google):
The only other access is by water and plane, both of which are dangerous and take a while.
The weather's also rough there right now: http://www.wunderground.com/US/AK/Dillingham.html

The CNN article I was looking at said "a source familiar with ongoing rescue efforts." D:
Seriously though, looking at his wiki page it seems that he was one of the less crazy ones.
TPM is better than CNN.
