    Mornin' [chat].

I'm uh practically done with my masterthesis, which means that I'm almost finished with my education from incontinent baby to competent citizen. Now for phase 2: From jobless shmuck to incontinent elderly.

That's beautiful. Life is recognizing that you are helpless, so you spend the rest of it preparing for when you will be helpless again.

Why thank you. And how is Gim doing these days?

Doing okay. Trying to keep busy with various jobs, saving my pennies so I can buy that big death ray in the window downtown.

Wait. Hold on I'm confusing AD with Year One.

I thought people were referring to the latter because God that was awful.

    I never actually watched it.

But I mean there's only so many shows who's fan can claim executive meddling before you just have to say 'this did not appeal to a large number of viewers'.

Which isn't a condemnation of that show, because there are some horrible shows on the air that people DO watch.

But let's face it, there's gonna be a lot of people who don't like Arrested Development because it just wasn't their thing.

I'm just tired of people acting like someone not liking some 'hip genius show that got canceled' is some kind of craziness.

I don't just think of it as a 'hip genius show that got canceled'. I truly believe, and this shouldn't be weird to hear from me, it's one of if not the greatest show of its type. like, if someone said 'I will forgive Coppola anything because he made The Godfather' and quid said 'I hate him because of the Godfather' he would have gotten the same reaction from me.

also, the show did bad for a variety of reasons, from lack of good advertising to not being your standard serialized sitcom.

edit - also in case it's not obvious, I don't actually have a problem with a person not liking it. however, when someone drops that opinion I will say 'what' or something like it. I want to understand because I feel so the opposite about it.

I mean, I'm a Firefly fan. I know about liking shows that get canceled and wanting to blame executive meddling. But I also knew when someone claimed Serenity was going to prove FOX wrong and be the 'New Hope of the 21st Century' that person was talking out their ass orifice.
