I'm moving out west in two weeks and I'm kinda nervous about it
it's just now hit me that I'm going to be 2000 miles away from my home and friends and family and everything I've known my entire life and it's a little scary
exciting too though
Yes! Then I remember there are awesome people and excellent times waiting for me and I'm less nervous and more excited
(also I'm listening to the Pipettes and they always make me think of you, so hi!)

I think in my later years I'd really like to leave my life behind, move back to Nova Scotia and become a detective.

haha, that's awesome! (hi!)
so does that mean you have a job squared up? when are you moving out to seattle?
We're doing salary negotiations now, but it looks like I'll be out there by the end of September!
I moved from the east coast (grew up in NYC, lived in DC for 8 years post college) to the Bay Area about a year ago. Apart from the job situation (i.e., don't have one, can't find one, leeching off my fiancee) and a few minor quibbles, it's been fantastic. You guys moving out here, if you do have jobs lined up, enjoy it.

I used to spend summers with my grandparents in idaho and it was my favorite place ever, and then my family moved here in high school and i hated it because i was an angsty teenager, but now i love it again
I don't think I can live anywhere for a long period of time without mountains.
Probably the same people who drive out to a campground in an RV that's bigger than my apartment, and sleep in a heated bedroom, in a queen-sized bed, and then have the gall to call what they're doing "camping."
A real camping trip involves going to see a parent who lives far away in the middle of the woods, having your plane crash in a lake, relying solely on a hatchet to see you through the trials and tribulations you face and then being rescued after bettering yourself as a person.

In Alaska everyone is this man.
I came back.
actually MST is where it will be.
but that is why you sleep on the thick soft grass
and get bugs crawling up your pants

This is my dream.

but then I go back east to the gorgeous Hudson Valley tomorrow
You are too cool to be around for long periods of time.
da couv
that's what I keep telling my self
because the alternative leads to cigars and blindfolds

And to think, when I was a teenager, I thought my hometown was boring. Now I visit it every chance I get. The west is pretty sweet.
How have you people never heard of air mattresses??
babies
post is misleading
I mean "put your sleeping bag on the thick soft grass"
but lugging an air mattress along on a camping trip seems really weird
Oh I am sorry my liege! Some of us poor serfs don't have the brutes to carry our air mattresses throughout the wild.
So good. My delicate body dare not touch the soiled Earth.
sleeping bags?
They are smaller and lighter than a sleeping bag
Most of them come with pumps and blow themselves up nowadays
Jesus you people are luddites I swear

I am Lord Wankshire, master of whining
it's you
not everyone goes to a campground to camp
My brittle arms are of no one's importance and will cease being discussed to any length in this thread!
If this is not followed through I will briskly pummel you.
I didn't say it was less effective, I just said it was weird
pretty sure most people's idea of camping doesn't include an air mattress
