It bothers me that people with dwarfism on television (and maybe universally, I don't know), say "average height" when referring to people who are a normal height. Try and exchange negative connotations with positive ones if you want but don't try to do it the other way around. It comes off as insecure and stupid. Not to mention inaccurate. Six feet is a normal height but not an average one.

I wonder if anyone's ever tries to kill someone by tying them up near some water and then dropping a huge chunk of Ceasium into the water.

that would be a terrible idea.

You know what I found out last night? Apparently each jalapeño varies in terms of its heat: even jalapeños from the same vine can vary by a significant factor.

i bought some refined chemical grade capsaicin at one point

and it was like, it had kind of a shitty industrial flavor and was suspended in a really viscous oil, but was wicked hot. like a drop or two would spice up a cauldron of soup pretty well

so i thought i'd buy a little portable spritzer/ atomizer and emulsify it with some water and use it on food

so the first time i try it, i spray a few squirts and the oils atomize and basically bounce off the food and make this choking miasma filling the room around me

    :(

tl;dr version (wall of text because I'm getting annoyed at work and needed a reset)

The study of sexuality is an extremely subjective field, and there's a lot of confirmation bias because it is so subjective, those people who conduct the surveys are largely not dispassionate observers and there's a natural tendency towards Normal=good so to show that non-hetero/unusual sexuality doesn't deserve stigma I will show that its normal.

Except that your point that those studying sexuality are pushing the idea that "everyone is bi" is a crock of shit. The field has had huge issues with going to the other way, to the point of bisexual erasure.

I am comforted by Richard Dawkins’ theory of memes. Those are mental units: thoughts, ideas, gestures, notions, songs, beliefs, rhymes, ideals, teachings, sayings, phrases, clichés that move from mind to mind as genes move from body to body. After a lifetime of writing, teaching, broadcasting and telling too many jokes, I will leave behind more memes than many. They will all also eventually die, but so it goes. - Roger Ebert, I Do Not Fear Death

I don't really see a difference between the usage of average and normal in this situation.

i have no idea what feral is trying to say unless it's just glibly asserting that things should never be assessed as to how common they are and only assessed as to whether or not they are harmful

i don't think he's saying this, though, because feral is a smart dude and this would be a silly thing to assert

I typically refer to my height as average (5 8). Attaching normal to a height seems way more offensive to me than average.

EDIT: I may have missed the point there.

Does anyone else in the CO tutorial always leave Defender standing at the first beacon while clearing out the rest of the room so he doesn't killsteal you?

Or am I a crazy person?

Goddamnit, Jeep! You have to destroy THAT beacon first!

IT WILL DRIVE THE QULAAR CRAZY!

Not only do I leave his beacon for last, I then rush the console to launch Ironclad before he can tell me to. Then I watch the cutscene and as it exits he tells me to launch it.

"average" only works as a quantitative concept

there's not really, say, an "average" gender

there are two "common" genders though
