Castlevania HoD - I'm interested in this!

I just got my first serious play session in last night, so I'm still good. Planned on playing this a bit tonight, after I get out of work at 6:00 pm EST, actually. Hit me up!
Steam Id: Jager2
my biggest gripe about MNC is that stomps and knockback effects are too powerful. I' get killed due to being knocked off the edge more then by bullets.
Shanoa's spells and Jonathan's subweapons both level based on the number of times they hit. So for example if you use Shanoa's lightning spell and it hits 3 times, she will gain 3 "points" towards leveling the spell. If it hits twice she will get 2, and if it doesn't hit anything she will get 0.
Picking up multiple copies of subweapons or multiple glyphs for Shanoa does nothing to advance the level.

There's really no point in capturing a glyph more than once, unless you want to bind one spell to more than of the 4 magic slots. In Order of Ecclesia, gaining another glyph did increase your hearts level, but it doesn't work like that in this one. She can also get two other weapons, Lapiste and Pnuema (Earth and Wind respectively) from the boss chests in Chapters 4 through 6 on Normal. Her spells level up just like Jonathan's subweapons, through use. It's not based on kills, it's based on hits, so just keep using them. Also like Jonathan, each time one of your spells gains a level, your base attack increases a little.
Does anyone know if it levels up the spells/subweapons if its blocked by the enemy? Like Dulluhan<sp?>?

Good to know about the blocking thing. Zaylenz and I did the whole level 1 survival levelling thing the other day. It definitely works well. It was funny watching how quickly my paper airplanes went from level 1 to 4 after a few throws.
Now I need to get his sword.

Click the Right Stick.
Also, is there some easier way to beat those giant armors right before him? Every hit I do to them does 1 damage. I've gotten decent at being able to dodge their attacks but damn do they take forever to kill that way (and they are so large I can't just bypass them)
If you are playing Jonathan, you can Sonic Strike or Roll right through them, otherwise no, you just have to hit them a bunch. Typically the faster the weapon the better.
For Dracula Phase 2: stay on/near the side walls of the room and hit him when he jumps close (to avoid the poison shower b.s.). If he does the curse thing start sliding/walking on the ground and you'll dodge them. Jumping is bad.

If you have a block button, you can block the curse attacks. If not, what walt said.
Big armor guys I don't even bother killing anymore. I just slide into them (take damage) then slide through them. There's a big meat past them and my charlotte can self heal. Probably not as viable for other characters who can't self heal until you get dracula's pattern down. If you do slide through them, you can kill them from behind but I don't see the point so meh.
I think I'll be able to kill him with a bit more practice, it was really late so I only really did two attempts on him and called it a night. It's kind of annoying that there is only one "book thingy" (or whatever those things are that let you swap armor) in that stage though. But I'm getting better at getting to the end with less damage on me (the big pot roast in the wall at the end helps too
I actually probably would have had him last night - I hit him a LOT before dying. I got sloppy and got hit by the damn poison shower though
Side note: For the Sunstone/Moonstone, is the cutoff point is 6:00 local? Or is it later than that? (I used to know what it was in the other games but it's been awhile). Also, do these stack if I manage to get a second one?
Warlock: They do touch the floor, it's just that the best way to dodge them is to walk in one direction until he stops doing the attack. If that isn't an option, walk in one direction, slide under one in the other direction, and keep walking.

Do you remember if Alucard's sword drops from chests or Boss only?
Shanoa probably takes the longest time to kill the Final Guards because she has no decent way past them or rapid fire attack (and even if you have twin Pneuma's, his stupid shield manages to block a lot of them).
For the third one, enter the room and then jump up on the platform with the candle and lightning him to death too. This one does activate and he does have an attack that can hit you here but he telegraphs it so far in advance you have plenty of time to back up to that little slope on the right side of the platform which will let you avoid it.
For the second form of Dracula...
Since you stay on your side, you should never get hit by his poison rain. The fire wave is usually only used from far away and is really easy to dodge. The giant beam is usually used close or from mid-screen and is also easy to dodge (double jump against the wall just before the big blast).
That just leaves the Ghost Chasers. They lock on to your current position when they reach their maximum height andthen go to that position. If you're staying on your side he should only use it when he's on the other side or the middle of the screen. When he starts to cast it, get against your wall and wait for the first one to start coming down and then slide. Then slide or walk towards him and they should all land behind you. Smack him once or twice and then return to your wall (you should have plenty of time before he does another attack). This is a little harder when he does it from mid screen since you have less room to cover, but you can try jumping just before the first one locks on to you so that it targets the wall instead of the floor.
Of course, then he has a third form...
Edit: I'm pretty sure the Alucard Sword is only from Hard 4's Boss Chest. The same boss also has an awesome spear for Soma.
In any case, yeah, for those armors lightning works pretty good, but you run out of mana way before they die. I found it generally works ok to get right next to them and crouch-attack. For the most part they will only try to stab you with their sword which has a LOOOOOONG telegraph animation for it giving you plenty of time to move away. The couple times they use their shield they'll telegraph that too so it's generally not a huge problem. They just take so damn long to die

Is there a list where one can find his weapons?
I'm still missing 3...
Please rate and report any glitches!
I did get the Kadalbolg(sp?) for Soma though, which is a 4-star drop and fairly decent. It's only two points weaker than the Longilus spear I was using but hits much faster (though I don't think it's holy like the spear and has pretty bad range and no special so I may go back to the spear).
Yes. It's actually in the OP, although easy to miss.
Okay! GT: ZachVeedle Also, I don't have a mic for today (It broke
Just let me know if you want to switch up which stage we head to.
Ugh, I gtg for about half an hour
No problem. Maybe when you get back we can go a bit longer.
Okay, I'm back
