Indie publisher Top Shelf is having a massive sale, with some items marked down to as low as $1.
Of note, Lost Girls (Alan Moore), Essex County (Jeff Lemire), and American Elf (James Kochalka) are all marked down 50%. As are all five volumes of Owly and a book called Far Arden that I rather enjoyed, despite the terribly bleak ending. Also, Superfuckers, The Surrogates (v. 1 & 2), and Fox Bunny Funny are all marked down to $3.
I know a lot of the material they publish probably isn't for everyone, but Kochalka's stuff is generally pretty funny, Owly's rightly regarded as one of the most sugary sweet, feel-good comics ever, and while I've never read it, I've heard good things about Essex County.
To put it into context, my wife enjoys the Anita Blake books, so I'm pretty sure Lost Girls can't be too far off from that sort of thing, at least in terms of sexual content.
Yeah, it's not a fantasy story featuring a series of sexually explicit scenes, but rather a series of pornographic short stories utilizing characters and themes, but not fantasy motifs, from familiar fantasy stories.
You'll see Dorothy and characters who are recognizable references to the characters from Oz, but that story is about men she meets while at her farm, not a fantastic adventure.
If it's porn with a story, my wife will be fine with it. Seriously, the shit she tells me about Anita Blake leads me to believe it's mostly supernatural porn with some super powered fighting occasionally.
My understanding is that Moore's intent with Lost Girls was to show that pornography can be literature as well. I will tell you this: he certainly succeeded on the pornography front.
Like, my understanding is that, depending on your local laws, Lost Girls can be considered child pornography. So, be aware, I guess?
It's pretty impressive, though. More or less, it is a story about how "Alice in Wonderland", "Peter Pan", and "The Wizard of Oz" are de-sexualized metaphors for the actual, sexual experiences of Alice, Wendy, and Dorothy. It's really interesting, Gebbie's pastels are beautiful, and also there is a lot of fucking.
In opposition, Owly is one of the most heart-warming things I've ever read. It's also interesting from a technical point of view, since the stories are communicated entirely through images. Like, there is no dialogue; there are only objects and maybe symbols (equals sign, question mark) in speech bubbles. If you have a five-year-old relative, these might be worth a buy. If you have a heart, these might be worth a buy.

Yep. Pretty much, in fact I'd go so far to say that it's porn with supernatural stuff rather than horror with sexy bits.

I figured I'd post this on account of all of the love that Community seems to get on this board. You are really stupid if you don't take advantage of this.
You're thinking of the award-winning comic book Tarot: Witch of the Black Rose.
Texiken told me that I would really get into that book lst year when I didn't know what it was, and on day Is aw it in the comic store and I just thought "fuck, I was totally insulted right there, that bastard."

That's 168 pages in volume 1 for the same price as Avengers #5 being released tomorrow. You have the power, make the choice.

You don't need to buy it when Chris Sims exists.
He only justifies my giving Jim Balent cash monies
