Nerds mainly repeat the Holy Grail, though. Maybe some of the better-known Flying Circus sketches.

Most of Life of Brian and The Meaning of Life are unsullied by greasy nerd hands.
Throw a Life of Brian reference at your average D&D nerd and he won't know what you're talking about.

Holy Grail is the nerd-culture spongebob. The rest is pretty safe for consumption by normals.

BS, Meaning of Life gets quoted all the time. Though Life of Brian not so much. Grail is the easiest to quote.

The Buffy musical episode is probably the definition of why musical episodes are fucking terrible.

I have it on my iPod.

    BUNNIES

    Oh God, it's so bad.

There's even a line that goes something like, "This is a filler line because I couldn't come up with a line to write here" sung by Willow if I remember right.

    Ugh.

And I even like Buffy... but geez, it's awful.

That line is because Alyson Hannigan was terrified of singing, hence Amber Benson singing 95% of "Under Your Spell." I find it's a nice way of making it fit Willow's character: it certainly doesn't take away from how much awesome "Walk Through The Fire" is in general.

    How boring.

I mean, really, I hate it way more when a happy ending ruins an otherwise decent piece of work. Like (spoiler for an early-2000s anime)
    Spoiler:

Or (spoiler for a more recent anime; mid-to-late 2000s)
    Spoiler:

I cite two examples from anime because the Japanese do this shit all the fucking time, and it's fucking awful.

I don't know if the problem with Once More with Feeling was that the actors are bad singers or that Joss Whedon isn't a great song writer or both, but

    but it needed help.

Most Awkward Moment I can remember from recent times?

Fencing Class, senior year of undergraduate.

We had already had the tournament, yet there were two class periods left.

Class period one? Bunch of those foam swords from target, played "capture the flag". not too terrible, but a bunch of people REALLY weren't into it and a few people were WAYYY too into it

Class period two? Class evaluations and then he put on the black knight scene from monty python

    I was like

    what

why are you doing this? This isn't highschool, if you have graded our performance let us leave I have better things to do than watch this

I like the idea of the Buffy musical episode. I think a lot of the jokes were good. I pretty much enjoy "Going Through the Motions" and "I Have a Theory," and the mustard song was just great. But overall ... eh. Kinda bad music.

    /shrug

I don't really consider broadway-style songs memorable. Though, I actually do remember one of the Dr. Horrible songs (Brand New Day), which is more than I can say for most of the musicals I've seen.
