    Wow. Did someone at PAX remind them that this comic existed or something? How the hell do people remember these things.


    EDIT: I only started reading PA about three years ago, so I just assumed that this was a real 1998 strip. I don't know if it is, obviously.

    One thing he forgot to replicate:
    They didn't start using the Blambot font until March 3rd, 2003. It was Comic Sans from 1998 until then.

    Only differences I can note between the old comics and the first panel is that the computers are a slightly different shape and shade of grey. I'm guessing he actually did replicate his style from years long past.

    So yeah, holy fucking shit Gabe did one hell of a job with this one.

    The style is distinctly 1999-vintage, not '98. You can tell by Gabe's hair, the can-holding pose, and the computer room.
    3/31/99 - Last appearance of Gabe's short hair in profile:

    All of which makes me wonder if they're going to edit the comic sometime later to roll the date printed in the up to 1999, and put the font to Comic Sans like they used to have. They've made minor edits of the sort before.
