Aldo have you ever lived in an English native-language place, or is your speechifying all book-learned?
The Netherlands practically is English-speaking.
We learn how to talk to retards from backwards countries where they don't learn other languages than their own, yes.
Well, I could speak French or Spanish to you, maybe even a little Latin or Japanese, but I have a feeling the English would probably be easier all around. :P
Je parle une petite peux Francais, ne hablo Español... Latin would be fun ololodeadlanguage. I can't make sentences in Japanese, but I can say hi/bye yes/no etc.
Ich spreche ein bietchen Deutsch, es ist gleich Niederlandisch. I can only say "yes" in Polish, because that's the only Polish they've ever said to me. I know some Czech, it's on the same level as Japanese.
But yeah, English is much better.
That's only 'cause Polish girls put out for everybody. Nothing to get a big head about. :P
Damn it Jeff, I actually wrote a post for that graphic novel thread.
Whatever. I'll dump it here.
I don't really know, but I wish they would make public policy books as graphic novels. A lot of abstract ideas could be summed up more succictly with a picture than a two page description. Henry Kissenger's books would be awesome as graphic novels.
Not to mention that someone like Thomas Freidman who insists on making every single fucking point with a story anyway could condense his books from 400 pages to 50.
God, no fucking kidding. I swear, the man gets paid by the anecdote.
I just want to shake him and yell "Just tell me the information" in his smug, mustachioed face.

My cousin would kick your ass till Białystok if she read that.
Prices are not as cheap as they were 40 years ago. This is because of inflation. Get over it.

Why are you having problems with old people today?
Because with every new day they seem to only get older.
Dear catastrophe Celery
Dear catastrphe Celery
I hate feeling this way,
I know that you hate it too,
Now that your coffee is growing cold,
All of the customers look so old

I submitted an entry to Lego Ideas, and if 10,000 people support me, it'll be turned into an actual Lego set!If you'd like to see and support my submission, follow this link.
I got home from school at 3:00-ish, EST.
Since then, I've had two pieces of pizza, because I have to work from 4-9 tonight.
I was hoping to at least have a little downtime before I had to leave.
My daughter has sandals with Belle on them, but no Sebastian.

An Austrian!?
That explains some things, yes.
huh, the german I learned before visiting Germany, Austria and Denmark last year apparently was enough that I have no problem understanding that.
But I felt really useless when I was in-country. Many times more useless than I had felt with my French when in France and Switzerland 7 years ago.
Huh? Why's that?
Edit: Have you listened to The Life Pursuit? I like it more than the other albums. Perhaps there is hope for you.
hey whens the next quizbowl gonna be, we're anxious to take back what was rightfully ours
I think my years of classroom training in French prepared me much more for speaking and understanding spoken French.
Before going to Germany, all I really did was some internet reading on common words and grammar, and one of those learn-a-language audio CDs.
Good times.
Ok, I heard the language is hard to learn.

I had a year of French where I'd really paid attention before I went there for a month, and I kicked ass at it.

Certainly not in the tourist areas, though.
Speaking from personal experience, an American will have a much easier time at a McDonalds in Amsterdam then in Munich or Vienna.
isnt beauty and the beast before her time?
lion king
I seem to remember a scene about a tar baby.
The Lion King is my favorite movie now, but I didn't like to watch it with my family when I was a kid because I'd always bawl at the end.
My favorite was always Aladdin.
:?:
Hell yeah. Aladdin is where it's at.
