I really don't get why Nintendo won't give the Mother games another chance in the US
I mean seriously it would take close to zero effort to bring Mother 1+2 to the states
And with how rabid the fanbase is they'd probably give their translation patch for Mother 3 away for free
My guess is they don't want to get their face's sued off. A lot of the music is... questionable in terms of how much of a "tribute" it is.
I'll see if I can find that article I read on the subject.
We had a NES but we went for the Genesis when it came out. I saved up and bought an SNES like a week before the 64 was released. Managed to snag Chrono Trigger soon after that and picked up most of the classics used.
Favourite Mario game would be a toss up between Super Mario RPG and Yoshi's Island. Both are games I've played over and over.

and I actually thought NSMB Wii really gave the old sidescrolling games a run for their money
Yeah, I had a lot of fun with NSMBW

I'm seconding Super Metroid for best SNES game. The bosses weren't ever kick-in-the-crotch frustrating, but even after playing through the game half a dozen times most of them still offer a challenge.

They really are, especially Ridley. When I first showed my wife Super Metroid to help her understand my, obsession, with the series, she kept asking me why I spent most of the game collecting so many missiles and never really using them.
Then I got to Ridley, and then she understood why I collected them as I fired every missile ever into him and still had to finish him off with charged plasma beam shots.

what the fuck.
1985 remains the best year to have been born.
As a rule of thumb I don't like RPGs at all
but I loved Earthbound and Mother 3

Beat it from start to finish, no warp whistles.
I tell ya I looked up the twist on youtube and it floored me
If you need more of an endorsement, it's certified #1 on my ranked list of SNES games. There's a gold seal with a cactuar on it and everything.

Mario 64 is way down on the list. It's not a terrible game but fuck...there's been so many Mario games that it suffers.

There we go. Thought that would've been a lot harder to find. http://earthboundcentral.com/2009/02/earthbound-legal-issues/

also i hear they made samus retarded
He does not appear to be a fan of Team Ninja's take on Samus
The DS one was lame yeah but I really enjoyed the Wii one
I really don't think too many 1-ups matters much these days. There's really no point in arbitrarily giving you extra punishment every 5th life.
That said though they should probably just remove the lives system altogether instead of just letting you game it with tons of 1-Ups
but then you'd lose the classic 1-Up noise

Also, there are few things in gaming as satisfying as blasting the everloving fuck out of Mother Brain with the Hyperbeam in Super Metroid.
which is a shame because it looked awesome when they first announced it

I agree, but Zombies Ate my Neighbors will always be the best in my heart
I think they're okay, but they're definitely no Mega Man 9.
oooooh, the golden cactuar seal.
seriously though, it looks great
Wish I could find the Prime Trilogy somewhere for a reasonable price
I still beat that game about once a month, almost two decades later.
God damn I love me some Mario.
The first time I ever played it I was pretty pumped. I was yelling at that bitch as I kicked the shit out of her and it felt pretty good.
mario1 ,3, lolo, guardian legend, mega man 2, faxanadu, solar jetman
chrono trigger, ff2, ff3, f-zero, mario rpg, earthbound, 7th saga
bunch more

my dad found the infinite turtle life trick
that was so cool
I was born in '88 but didn't own a console until the N64 and even then the Mario games weren't my favorites
But I've been playing Super Mario Galaxy and it is
so
good
had Mario Bros/Duck Hunt and Mario Bros 3!
I remember one babysitter when I was a kid who knew where all the warp whistles in SMB3 were, which amazed me to no end
