Phantasy Star Online 2 -- Beta Live, 3 Invites Available From Those Already In Game
Apparently those in the Beta get 3 invites to send out (begging for invites starts around page 9). Beta is Japanese. There is an unofficial English patch to allow you to see some of the menu's in English.
So I’m watching Sega’s TGS live stream which currently is just playing trailers for their upcoming games while no press conference is going on. I was just happily playing it in the background as I catch up on some work while minding my own business.
Suddenly I head something that fills me with nostalgia and fond memories. Pioneer 2, Spread Needles, Rappys and beautiful Caves 3 come flooding back; It’s the main (vocal) theme of the original Phantasy Star Online! What the?
I quickly Alt-Tab to the stream and what do I see? Phantasy Star Online, the original, what is this? Then it shows PSOv2 and proceeds to go though each game in order of release right up to the very newest announced game, Phantasy Star Portable 2: Infinity. I’m excited about the game so I continued watching but that wasn’t all. Right at the end… My mind was blown.

I think they could finally do another good console PSO(U), because PSP2 is just so good. It's all I ever wanted for a handheld PSO. Unfortunately I know that I won't be getting this because it's PC and I don't play anything on PC. I'm stuck with my laptop anyway and there's no chance it'll be able to run this.
There is no point for a PSO game unless it's on a console. That's the whole reason...ugh. Bleh.

I would be amazed if this isn't for the consoles as well. Pretty psyched for this as long as it is an actual follow up to PSO. I tried universe and it didn't grab me at all.
Shougai PSO wrote down pretty much every detail they could read from the trailer. Though some of the stuff is blurry, it will give us a glimpse on what to expect for Phantasy Star Online 2.

Sounds like more of the same, with an autogeneration feature for dungeons. Taking the copy paste enviroments they had and running with it.
If its still a heavily instanced based loot generator and they decide to do their hunter pass bullshit im gonna have to sit this one out. I was silly enough to pay 10.99(?) when i played it on the GCN, but that was also 6+ years ago and my free time now is somewhat limited.
Still super excited though, cant even imagine how many hours were logged on my lvl 167 HuMar.

I'm pretty positive they'll do the hunter's license thing. PSP2 is free and they still managed to work it in, albeit for anti-piracy. The only game that hasn't had that at all was PS0. They still charge for PSU and the only version that even has servers now is the 360 version.
Ladies and gents, early this morning over in Japan there was an event that led up to... the showing of a gameplay trailer and some screenshots for PSO2! All alpha of course.
Needless to say, all of my dicks right now. Happy easter, PSO fans. The Rappies have heeded our call.
One of my favorite things? Ranger gameplay is drastically different from the other two classes. Rangers play a Third Person Shooter-RPG hybrid. While the Hunters get the real deal hack n' slash. Not much of anything on the FO characters yet, but I can imagine they will have something nice for them as well.

Yay, Rangers can move while shooting, you can jump, sweet combo attacks, "interrupt events" (probably just random dynamic objectives) and that sweet sweet PSO like music <3
However, still need to see my FOnewm back in action. I remember having him on my first run on PSO GC, the AoE fire attack reaped in so many EXP points that when the mem card got accidentally wiped my cousins who played with me in splitscreen (thank the lord for splitscreen) wisened up and got half-magic chars themselves :lol:

Agreed. I am still hopeful, but PSO on the Dreamcast (and Gamecube) were really the highlight of the series for me.
Also, fuck Sega, stop ruining everything. Make Phantasy Star V.

Would be interesting to see a PSO that was completely designed from the ground-up as a computer game, not a ported console game...
PSO is my crack, though. Bought a Broadband adapter for my GameCube so I could play it way-back-when.

PSO was on the original Xbox. PSU was 360.
And yes I'm excited for this. I really hope they keep the photon arts and HEAVILY revamp the crafting system (i.e. not the ONLY way to get items).

All my PSO good times were on the DC. I did some on the Gamecube too but the DC was where it was at.
They really need to put PSO out on XBLA.
