Oh man Mandy. You got trashed as hell. On a side note, I got my 3rd scout hat last night. I can't wait for trading so I can get rid a 2 of them. It seems like I keep getting hats for classes I never play. I just can't bring myself to craft 2 hats into one again. It is just not worth it with trading coming sometime soon.
I've long suspected that a lot of servers report incorrect player counts just to entice people to come, and then usually run some kind of redirect script where you load the map and it immediately connects you to one of the sponsor's other servers.

Basically, yeah, this is what happens. (Although I don't know about the redirect script, don't think you can force a client to connect to a different server. Might be possible, since I've seen a mod which can show you the status of specific other servers in-game, and give you the option to connect to them...)
We call those server operators "douchebags."

Personally, I wrote an updater for the custom HUD I use that makes a .bat file that I can double click to uninstall it if I ever needed to.
