It's a great device, and the music interface is way, way slicker than any of the ipods. The screen is a nice size and pretty decent resolution as well. There are only like 20 apps for it though.

so long as it comes with "play music" who cares amirite

"Spark" is a bit of a cliche now, isn't it?

Shit son this isn't being nominated for a Pulitzer.

Yeah, but cliched platitudes and diversions don't make break-ups any easier. In fact, some people might take them as indicative of a lack of consideration or deliberate attempt to hide the real reason.

I mean, can you think of a single person who'd still respond to, "It's not you; it's me," or, "I just need to work on myself for a while," in a positive fashion?

What's your alternative? It's not like it isn't being honest. It's just being vague, because they don't need to know the exact reasons. Hell, sometimes the other person doesn't even really know the exact reasons.

things become cliche for a reason

I wonder if, in 20 years, we'll be reading about Jerry, Mike, and Khoo like we read about the early years of Microsoft and Apple.

Any app would be a bonus. And since I've never used an iPhone, I don't actually know much about the usefulness of 'apps'. Maybe they're awesome, but I don't really see myself needing anything but a way to access the internet.
I used to think this until I got a phone that supports a ton of apps.

Now I'm like "Yessss, apps are amazing."

Google Sky is my favorite in concept, even though I haven't really used it yet.

Well, I'll find out soon. I'll be getting some sort of android with my next bonus.

We also didn't really have a connection, but that's not quite as necessary this soon if I'm not looking for a serious relationship.

Yes, and sometimes they stop working the moment people acknowledge that they're cliches rather than thoughtful expressions of one's own feelings.

I think I'm gonna buy a used Mac Mini for my media serving needs.

Sounds like a good plan of action to me.

That would be perfect. It has DVI, which I guess might have an adapter for Component or HDMI at least...

What kind of media formats can a Zune play?

    wiki says the zuneHD supports:

    Audio support:[21]

WMA Standard up to 384 kbps (DRM protected files can be played only if purchased from the Zune Marketplace)
WMA Pro stereo up to 768 kbit/s
WMA Lossless stereo up to 768 kbit/s
    Unprotected AAC-LC (.mp4/.m4a/.m4b) up to 320 kbit/s
    MP3 up to 320 kbit/s
    Video support:[21]
Up to 1080i resolution and 14 Mbit/s bit rate, CBR or VBR for:
    H.264, Baseline Profile up to Level 3.1 + B-frames support[21]
WMV Main and Simple Profile, Advanced profile up to Level 2.
MPEG-4 Part 2 Advanced Simple Profile up to 4.0 Mbit/s bit rate

For something like that I kinda wanna say you should wait for tablets to really get rolling. Maybe in a year or two tops there should be some solid offerings. Just don't bother with the first gen, I can almost guarantee they'll be mediocre performance for too premium a price.

Yeah, if it was serious, I'd do a phone call. If we were breaking up from a real relationship or something.

The vast vast majority of our correspondence has been over the internet, though, so I don't really feel any qualms about doing it this way.
