It's frustrating to continue losing against people who clearly have no strategy beyond jumping about and dping repeatedly. At least I can now punish blocked dps semi regularly.
Also, head stomping people who spam fireballs never gets old. Not sure it works against good people but seems to be successful against amply of the people I am up against.
If you predict the jump, you can meet them in the air with jumping mp combo, then juggle ultra 2 after that lands.
Basically this. It's pretty important to remain mobile as Bison. The only time you should have to block a jump in is if you're simply unprepared to anti-air it (bad range, or they jumped over a laggy poke) or if it's a safe jump setup (untechable knockdown like a throw or something, that you don't want to reversal out of). Jump happy players tend to collapse once they realize you can stop them.
RE Headstomps, they really aren't that great at punishing fireballs. It's a pretty slow move and it has to be done predicatively not on reaction. So you're taking a gamble they're going to toss something out. If you sniff out a pattern, go nuts but I see a lot of Bison's rely way too much on Devil Reverse/Headstomp shenanigans and that shit really doesn't fly. Much better when it comes as a surprise and not as your main form of attack or anything. Get good at EX scissors through fireballs or quick FADC dash forwards. Bison's forward dash is godlike.
It is more likely Kuroda will drop 3S and main Hakan
Yeah, Daigo is on record for saying he basically hates grapplers.
If the jumpin is too close for HK to get him off, try dashing under the jump. You won't get a punish but you aren't forced to block anything either, which is as good as it gets for dictator in most games. After the dash, you can backwards teleport to get as far away as possible. Slide HK also works for alot of characters, especially those with floaty jumps
EX psycho will go through jumpins and hit them pretty reliably, similar to hondas headbutt
Bison is about momentum and he falls apart without it. Letting them jump is certainly a way of losing it.

So... how'd you do? I watched the stream when I could but I was in and out quite a bit this weekend.

Welcome to the world on this side.
It is...rough..so I ask you, as I struggle through this, how do you do it?
My issue is I am a primarily reflex fighter. My reaction time is, sometimes, my strongest asset. I've played the game so much if I see something I think I recognize, Dictator is moving before the conscious thought is in my head to counter.
This can get me into trouble against thinking type fighters since they can successfully bait me or against terribads or random people who do stuff that just makes me go "WTF..".
I actually re-mapped my buttons slightly as well to try and help. My left hand is weaker, so I remapped a punch....I already know I am weakening my reaction to jumping double MP --> Ultra due to the remapping, but so far it appears to have helped my links!
Still, instincts are hard to break
Ugh, it's nerve wracking.
[edit to Sol]
I was playing around with it, it looks like you can link cr. Mp --> st. RH, but it's a bitch of a link.

This may be a bit below you, but after getting destroyed by the likes of you and Sol and Kinderparty I consciously took two steps back, several deep breaths, and restricted my move set. By removing certain (not so safe) options my whole game calmed down and I made fewer unforced errors.
I still get killed, but it looks less silly, I am much less desperate, and I feel like I am learning more from each defeat. Plus I actually beat Kinderparty's Ryu once, something he may never forgive me for.
The Raid
Never.
Also, on the note of progression, all I did was change my attitude towards the game. Once I stopped being such a Sad Sally poopy pants like Solsovly told me to do I had lot easier time focusing in matches. Still, I gotta work on some of my patterns too, Biz.
How I make Hakan not suck?

I think it's on the right track, actually.
I am slowing the use of headstomp except in knockdown or corner situations. I used it way too much for high risk / high reward uses and it's probably good for me to not do that anymore lol.....
That's one of my big issues that I think will help.
I've also started working in crouching medium punch. It can be blocked standing, unfortunately, but the increased range is helping with my comfort zone. It seems to pretty good to use defensively, too, due to the range.
What's your preferred playstyle in matches?
And Hakan will always suck unless the patch comes
Patterns are the bane of anyone's existence..even the top top guys imo.

I would like to watch some Guile play too but there's some super awesome paint drying in my bathroom right now.
I'd fist start by watching these two videos. They give some good instruction and show you a lot of what makes Hakan unique.
Use your oil slide, it's a very versatile move that's not only good for damage, but getting in on someone to do an oil rocket. It also breaks armor, so that's a bonus.
He's also got really good normals and normals you can buffer U1 into. So using that f.mp to get in while buffering U1 is a good tactic.
Hakan is still an uphill road and he has a hard time with quite a few characters. Guile seems to be my bane. But i find him super fun and challenging. If you like him, don't give up. Plus it looks like he might get some buffs when the AE patch comes, so learning him now isn't a bad thing at all since there will probably be a lot more Hakans around then. Well....maybe just a few, i'm sure i'm overestimating his popularity. I just really like him.

I imagine that you would make good use of it if you got the timing down.
Kinderparty, I have not played you in a while. We should throw down.
To be fair I saw an excellent Guile vs C.Viper match on Newgrounds once.
got more chains than the snow patrol every one razor thin like an insect stripper pole
*shudder*
For those unfamiliar, do NOT go looking for this.
Kinder - sometime I would like to do a bunch of 1v1 with you. I have a lot of trouble with good Ryus, need the practice.
Really sucks about your friend's car
Regarding SB:R, it was pretty cool to see Wong use Makoto and also cool to see Gamerbee adjust to that in the loser's finals.
Also, who would have thought we'd be seeing Ken vs. Adon in the grand finals?
I love command throwing, though I like how easy it is for Hakan to combo into oil slide. My real problems are in keeping oiled while on the defensive and actually moving in for the kill against good keep away.
I'm wondering if he has some better pokes than f+MP, st. FP and oiled f+FK.
I throw it out when appropriate (e.g. MK-happy Dhalsims), but all it takes is one low block to ruin your day. I can't watch the video at work; is there some trick to using it successfully?
Yeah, I've got that one down after practicing that kind of thing with Zangief, but I feel like there's not a lot I can do to pressure an opponent aside from just being in throw range. With Bison I could throw lots of cr. lk xx scissor pressure with almost no retaliation. With Hakan, I can't do anything without getting wrecked on block.
What are the AE changes that you guys are talking about? How is he improved?

Its a one framer. I have a heck of a time with it.
Wait... whut? Damn, I missed a lot last night.
Curse you homework!
Also, something that I think helps improve my game is trying to block more, rather than using reversals. I know when I played Biz, Sol, and Hiryu on Sat., I was focusing more on trying to block strings and figure out where the lynch points were.
It's kind of hard and a lot of times it will help them maintain pressure, but I'm slowly learning how to react.
Yeah, a lot of great matches last night. The Ken was Momochi BTW, who won all his matches through the winner's final.
Momochi almost went 5-0 against Team USA in Saturday's 5v5 but I guess Marn squeaked a win out. Supposedly Momochi wrecked Justin Wong's Rufus in the 5v5 so Wong went with Makoto and Balrog against him in the singles tournament.
It's a bitch.
I was doing the cr. MP --> st. RH, which I assume is also one frame, and spent about 30 minutes in the training room last night doing that and a few variations on the cross up crouching combos.
I was in a groove when I was nailing the MP --> RH most of the time, then I'd lose it almost immediately when I'd try and implement in a slightly different way (i.e., instead of dashing forward and doing it, walking and doing it, or different ranges).
Takes some getting used to.
Also, it seems 100x easier to do cr. lp --> cr. lp --> cr. lk --> scissors then cr. lp --> cr. lp --> cr. mk --> scissors.
Annoying

c.mp->s.mk is a one framer and s.mk has a 5 frame start up.
I didn't have training mode set to counter hit or anything and it was comboing /shrug.
Unless default is counter hit, cr.mp-->st. RH works.
