Also, this is apparently his fifth appearance on the show. And he's going to be on Mythbusters on December 8th. Which could be interesting if they are busting Obama myths. ("Obama a muslim? BUSTED!")
That is fucking hilarious. But y'know what? What could be more American than getting on popular television all over the place?
coming soon: keeping up with the real presidents of the DC shore
How bad should I feel that I know what shows you just referenced?
You know, I could understand appearing on the Daily Show. It's an extremely popular program, smart, with the potential for real intellectual back and forth on the interview.
But Myth Busters? Admittedly, I've only seen one episode, but there HAS to be something better Obama could be doing with his time.

Please tell me I got trolled and it's a joke.
Not really no. Mythbusters is actually a very important show as a popularizer of science, it is in no way some dumb show, and any exposure for that is a good thing.

Mythbusters seems to hit a pretty good balance between entertainment and education/skepticism. It's reality TV that runs on people's curiosity, rather than people's desire to watch people do something stupid/degrading/or fighting each other.
So I read 'I Am America!: And So Can You!' for the first time yesterday. Oh my gods, I couldn't breathe through some of the parts.
The audiobook is also fantastic.
I can't imagine how earth: the book would work in audio format. Which is too bad, since america: The (audio) Book was great.
Yeah, I tried listening to the Earth audiobook. It's OK, with voice work from Jon and the correspondents, but i dunno... I like Colbert as a narrator more than Stewart.
Colbert does have the experience as a voice over actor and MIND TAKER!

Goolsbee is on the show again tonight. Sen. Kaufman Tuesday. The President Wednesday. No guest listed yet for Thursday, wouldn't be surprised if it's just Stephen or something as they do rally promotion.

Self-righteousness is incompatible with coalition building.
I have noticed on numerous occasions recently that repeats of either the Daily Show and/or the Colbert Report have been aired instead of the new, current episodes that air on Comedy Central on the same night. Take this week for example: It is advertised right on your site that this week the shows would air from Washington D.C. (http://www.thecomedynetwork.ca/Displayblog.aspx?bpid=161f134d-9567-4e82-a6e0-525456f50f72), but instead I turn on the television to discover you guys are airing yet another repeat of both shows. Is there some sort of technical bug or something that is causing this issue to persist so often, and if so, is it being worked on?
Thanks!"

Wyatt, Jon, & Jason segment looks very promising. Liked the first instalment.
On The Bugle, John said that at some point they fire a T-Shirt cannon at a cop car. We'll see if that makes it to air.
It might. When they tried to get into the Clinton wedding earlier this year they were able to air footage or play audio from when security was pushing them away.
The side effects of Dr. Stephen T. Colbert, DFA segments are some of my favorite parts. Also, it was pretty obvious they wanted to use "You're The Best" by Joe Bean Esposito, but I guess licensing fees prohibited it.
hahaha... I lost it when I saw they chose a guy from Winston-Salem, especially considering I know exactly where that is, right next to Forsyth Tech. Comm. College
Finally caught up on both shows, and both really hit it out of the park.
However, I noticed something; Colbert mentioned that they poured over 785 shows from the previous 5 years.
Which means that, for all the bitching we do about them taking breaks, they produced an average of 157 shows a year out of a possible ~208 (mon-thurs weekly), thus being on the air roughly 3/4 out of the year.
... that's actually pretty impressive, in my opinion.
I assume the Daily Show's statistics are similar, and they've been doing it (at least in terms of Stewart's participation) for over 11 years.
At least, assuming Colbert's initial number is accurate.
Edit: this yelling montage is golden.

Explosions are science.
AWESOME SCIENCE.
it's like if obama showed up on bill nye the science guy
And blowing shit up.
The one shot of them vaporizing a nearly full cement truck never gets old.
And that Jon mini-documentary was interesting. Thanks for linking it.

This post has led me to the depressing realization that Bill Nye is not on Netflix. At all.

It would be great if it were live in time zones other than eastern, rather than 3 hours old Though probably less relevant for a midterm election

I'm hoping that Lewis Black is driving that bus.
