That's not really very relevant because that was decades ago and no movie studio in existence has only made good films.
As for the rapunzel movie, okay, yeah, point taken, but I still think that it's unnecessary to start worrying about Mort already. Disney's track record as far as traditionally animated feature length films go is still quite impressive.

if this were pixar i wouldn't be worried but disney...
Couldn't that just be that there's not a whole lot to Rapunzel? If you've got to pad a 30 page story out to an hour and a half you've got to add of material to it, that wouldn't as much be a problem with a longer book (or at least I'd hope so).

Titan AE ended with them naming Earth2 Bob, didn't it?
That wasn't a Disney movie, I don't think.
it was an AWESOME movie, though.
Mort is probably the Discworld book I can best see being turned into a Disney-style animated film. Or maybe the Tiffany Aching books, but I always imagined those to be live-action. Ditto with the Guards books.

Padding I wouldn't mind, but the prince character looks so obnoxious, like he was ripped right out of a Dreamworks movie
I mean, I still want to see it, but it feels like it could be either a really grating or simply decent (and gorgeous) movie
While we're on book adaptions: I wonder why Captain Underpants never got a TV show, or at least a cartoon movie
It came out in the late 90s right? And even Teacher's freaking Pet had a feature film

i just grabbed the wikipedia list of movies disney put out over the last ten years, didn't go specifically by writer/director
man, aladdin and the little mermaid and the great mouse detective were rad, but the others... not as much
but at least now i am more hopeful
edit: oh also, i remember hearing that the version of the black cauldron that disney released was a hack job that cut out a bunch of vital scenes, not their fault

The best way I can think about doing Tiffany Aching books is live-action, but then the parts where super ridiculous stuff is happening, it's animated.
like the part in the Wee Free Men when
she's in Fairland, or fighting the Queen
it gets all classic Disney sweeping and epic animated, but when she's just toolin' around in the regular discworld it's live-action. but that combination is probably too weird to be in a like, mainstream disney movie.
I can't tell if that comes off as pretentious or not.
I also can't tell if I spelled pretentious right.

If I can find the time to do some reading again I might dive into some Mazalan. Whether or not I really get into it depends on how light it reads. I couldn't get into A Fire Upon the Deep because the prose was just too thick. I have so much reading for all of my classes that when I do read something to read for fun I want it to actually be fun.

What, no love for Hercules?
Artreus the Malazan books are excellent but they are not light, there are a hell of a lot of characters and things happening right from the word go and if you want fluffy they might not be the best choice.

hercules was disney trying to be all hip and self-deprecating and a lot of times i just found it annoying instead
Not only don't I like Twilight, I don't dislike it either. I am entirely neutral. I'd hate it like everyone else but it drives my teen circ up like gangbusters.

What spring does with the cherry trees.
I dunno, Disney's current management is pretty solid so I'm confident that they'd do a decent job at least.

Don't make me post that one comic.
the rest are ok or mediocre or worse
From Guilty Gear
This is assuming the three movies are Emperor's New Groove (best one there), Lilo and Stitch (second best) and Princess and the Frog.
What spring does with the cherry trees.
but yeah, my three were Emperor's New Groove, Lilo & Stitch and Princess & Frog
that was my group, yes
the next best was either atlantis or treasure planet, i think atlantis... not sure whether i saw treasure planet
which one ended with bob
not great odds
we can only hope they don't get all wacky with the source material

that was Titan A.E.
also i agree that it would have made more sense for them to go after the tiffany aching books, what is up with that
ooh, or the amazing maurice and his educated rodents
Okay now I'm really curious as to what these reasons are because I've seen him do that as well as "yr" instead of "your"
2009 The Princess and the Frog (screenplay / story)
2002 Treasure Planet (animation story / screenplay)
1997 Hercules (animation screenplay)
1992 Aladdin (screenplay)
1989 The Little Mermaid (written by)
1986 The Great Mouse Detective (story adapted by)
With them getting co-credits on Black-cauldron. There were only 6 movies they wrote/directed themselves.

that's cool, i'm not judging you or anything
as long as you don't like Twilight i mean
The movies, mind you. I wouldn't read the books.
But those movies, holy shit. Greatest spoof comedies in YEARS.
Fuck yeah!
