Yeah, this was my thinking as well about "your usual IP address." That's not necessarily static.
Yes with certain software. Proxifier for instance, or Hummingbird.
Last time I tried it with WoW behind a pretty strict firewall, I was okay. It was pretty slow, but someone fucking with someone's account isn't raiding or PvPing. You could probably quest decently.
Also significantly harder to tap a phone line than place a trojan or middleman on someone's PC.
Clawshrimp on Draenor. Small, active, tight knit. It's a PVE, but a sizable contingent of us actively PVP, BG based of course. I know that this isn't what people mean when the say PVP per se, I came from Horde side Azgalor from way back on launch day, and I know PVP, and I'm done with it. I find this to be the best guild I've been a part of.

I have a suspicion that if this system is enabled for your account, it will register in the game as something equivalent to an authenticator-enabled account, so that you can still show your guild a corehound for verification purposes. Or once the "this rank requires an authenticator" system goes in, I would think it would be valid as well.
Stupid.
And the phone authenticator works like this: you call up the number and register your phone and a PIN to your account. Then whenever you try to log into your account from a different location (what constitutes a different location is unknown) then it will stop the log in and provide a security code. You then need to call into Blizzard with your PIN and that number using the phone you registered with and it will unlock your account. As of right now being enrolled in this doesn't count as having an Authenticator for guild rank/core hound pet purposes.
Like would I be able to use my cheap ass go-phone to call in and do this? If so this could save me some money.
Edit: Looked up the FAQ and I really like the sound of this option.
That's what makes it secure. If you could dial in with any phone, it wouldn't be worth anything.
