I'd like to know what happened to the explosives sniffer machines. I went through one going to see the Statue of Liberty 5 or so years ago, you just step into it, it puffs some air at you and you're done, pretty unobtrusive. They were all the rage, then suddenly nothing.

The turrists switched to untraceable scifi movie liquid explosives.

Oh of course. I will make you all bathe in jealousy.

The alternative though is a pre-emptive "We need to search all your underwear because one of you might have PETN in a pair", which sounds retarded on its face. Security kind of by default is only looking for known types of threats.

I rather like the idea of intelligence/threat analysis instead, but ooooh boy will that throw up a shitstorm when people feel harassed because they get stared at.

But that's the direction the world is moving. There's a lot more authoritarian surveillance in the pipeline.

They still exist. I periodically have to go through them. Most airports have at least one. The problem with them is that they are expensive. More so then these new scanners.

I like simple colby/monteray cheese slabs that I slowly sliver pieces off with a knife and nibble on.

So I just read a 1 star review of Hereafter.

I'm having difficulty believing that Clint Eastwood directed a 1 star film.

Does not compute. I'll probably see it anyway.

Wanna go buy a new outfit for Eid at al-Andalus.... but I haven't slept in 24+ hours and the bus ride is 40 minutes. They didn't have anything of interest at Old Navy though, so there's really no likable option that's closer. Poop. :?

Thanks, I mean making fun of native americans inability to deal with alcohol is my favorite past time. I like to drive by the rez and drop of cheap beer with a note that says "For the treaty of 1815 you filthy savages" I don't even think there was a treaty then.

Also, what is up with places not carrying long skirts during the winter? Plenty of knee-length dealies, but a nice long one? Pffff.

I need to learn how to sew my own abayas, but that would involve wrestling with a sewing machine.
