    Thanks for the info.

I have a feeling if I make a character that has no real super powers or anything really cool, he's going to get trounced on by everyone else.
Should I give him super powers or is no powers okay?

My actual character only has 1 very passive "super power", and he's plotting to take over the world.

It really doesn't matter if you give your guy any powers, the system is set up that you'll have fun regardless.

When ranking a character that is very device oriented, would we need to make two different sheets, one with devices and one without? Say, the difference between Batman on the prowl and Bruce Wayne in his skivvies.

    totally okay

    everyone has a power level

your power level determines a lot of things, not just how many powers or how powerful they are

    but also, and very importantly

it determines what kind of Issues you have access to

A Power Level 3 guy has a totally different scale and scope of things that he does when compared to a Power Level 7 guy

    Zealot
    Zealot.jpg

Abilities: Zealot possesses flight, an accelerated healing factor, moderate super-strength, and limited precognitive abilities.

Through unknown means, the magnitude of Zealot's powers seemingly increase based upon the strength of his religious and personal convictions. No biological or mystical cause has been discovered for this phenomenon, so it is presumed to be a by-product of the as yet unknown means by which Zealot manifested his abilities.

The sword and shield that Zealot carries have proven nigh-unbreakable, though they are apparently crafted of ordinary alloys. Once again, no discernable cause has been discovered for this puzzling occurance.

The Daily Sentinel May 20, 2007

    A Letter from the Editor
Hello readers. First I'd like to thank you for buying this great paper. Second, I'd like to remind you about the Sentinel's history. I've been the Editor-In-Chief here for 35 years, yes I'm an old coot, and because of that I've been through alot. I was here for the Protests against letting underage supers go into Vietnam. I was here when Ultimatum appeared to the world. I was here when Nixon was kicked out of the White House for Dealing with Kommandat in secret under-table weapons deals. I was here for the Invasion, and I might add that we were the only paper still running daily during it. And I'm here now, in a Brave New World. A world where there are men flying by my window as I write this. A world where creatures only seen in folklore and myth can be seen on your walk to work. A world where somehow, a newspaper run by a crotchety old man can still change the world and help the common man. Thank you for reading our fine publication, and please continue doing so, as I still need a job.

    -Bob Jenson

    There aren't any!

    This ain't D&D son.

You can't just get your Paladin to look at a man and judge the wheal of his life.

Sure, it's easy to say people are heroes or villains.

But in a world where the "heroes" dominate the planet with irradiated fists

and the "villains" want freedom for all mankind...

Things are a little grey, huh?

The thing is, that is almost exclusively a storyline ability

So putting more points in that is a waste

Ideally, I want to think up another trait once I finish his bio

But failing that, I can just take the modifier off of Power of Faith

I feel kind of sorry for the rest of the board.

I mean, here's SE++ all ready to play the game, coming up with character sheets and everything.

Pony is going to post about this game in ODaM and whatnot only a week or two before the game actually starts.

It is like we are close-betaing a game and then go out and own everyone the day it is released.

    Let's just say

    for the sake of arguement

You have a world where the most powerful man in the world doesn't believe in religion or magic. In fact, he's observed in several instances of outright dismissing magical effects simply by denying them.

His second in command, the guy who keeps the gears running? Man of science and technology. He denies magic entirely.

The other corner of this triad? Well, she can read minds. There are no mysteries to her. She scoffs at sorcerors and other occultists.

And yet, magic exists all the same. There are people who wield magical artifacts of forgotten, mythic ages. Hell, let's just say, hypothetically, that a god of ancient myth actually rules a country.

So what happens to all those mages and sorcerors and other mystics?

In a world that denies them, but they still hold power?

    What do they do?

    Do they organize?

Perhaps on the edge of civilized society? Perhaps behind closed doors, where the magic-denying upper echelons can exercise plausible deniability and refuse to acknowledge them?

Do they try to bring varying mystical traditions together?

Do they try to make their knowledge Perfect?

    Who knows?

    Someone does.
