Okay, so, I am trying to figure something out: when we buy stuff at the start of the game, like say a blaster pistol, what price am I paying? The base price, the black market price? I guess it kind of affects whether I'll take the Wealth or Connections talent to start.

    Background:
Tissen Kreeb started out like any other Duros. Schooling. More schooling. University. Engineering problems before breakfast, Astrogation before bed. All to come to work in the planetary shipyards. Boring. Dull. Routine.

In secret, Kreeb longed for adventure. Excitement. Every spare moment would be spent in front of the holovids. He would mouth the words of some of his favorite holovid actors along with them. "Do you feel lucky, punk?". "Republic. I like the sound of the word.".

As the war expanded and swallowed systems, and Kreeb's life seemed duller by the moment, he decided to stake out, and make his own way. Like the characters the holo-actors portrayed.

He heard about an opportunity to make some money smuggling goods across both sides of the war lines. "Profiteering" they called it.

He found a local loan shark and went 25,000 credits in debt to buy The Long Shot - a used GI 720.

As he started crossing the lines of war, trying to make a quick credit and a story wherever he could, everything changed.

Durge's Lance decimated Duro. The Republic won the war, and quickly became an Empire.

Kreeb has no grand plans. Just the curiosity about what's behind the next hyperspace jump. And trying to find his place in this increasingly hostile so-called 'Empire'.

And for completion and ease of finding, The Long Shot

    and an IC sample post
Tissen wandered idly around the docking bay. He had spotted the Rodian and the Quarren waiting for him by The Long Shot before they noticed him. Hard to surprise someone if you're pawing your blaster, he thought with a chuckle.

He wandered in his mind, also. Who sent them? Were some of those 'products' he was carrying stolen? Could Galen have survived Durge's Lance? Were they actually waiting for him, or could it be a mistake?

Instinctively, he found himself at the job board. It looked unlinked, so, better chance of finding something worth doing. That is, if he could get through those thugs.

He read through a few of the postings. Illegal bounty - too dangerous. Passenger charter - too boring. "Shipping Consultant Needed Immediately". Usually, it was code for a smuggling job. Though every once in a while, the local law enforcement tried to set up a sting. But you could always tell those jobs from a parsec away. Promises of 5 times what a job was actually worth, often claiming "cred upfront!"

The Gamorrean next to him grunted, interrupting Kreeb's train of thought. No good pile of bantha poodoo, he thought, the only things you know how to do are eat and fight. Kreeb nearly slapped himself at the revalation. He could hire his own goons! Well, he thought, checking the cred-sticks in his pocket, goon.

He checked the details of the job once again, committing it to memory before checking out his potential employees. He passed over the arguing Bith and Toydarian, the Gamorrean, two humans and a Wookiee. He cleared his throat to speak, but choked on... whatever that smell was.

Smell is not a strong enough word, he thought, turning towards the Wookiee, karking poison is more like it. He cleared his throat again, and put on his best Va'an Dammin face.

    "You looking for work?"

"Rrrrwooooooollllll" replied the wookie. <who wants to know?>

"The name's Tissen Kreeb, but you can call me Kreeb. I'm looking for some muscle for some... jobs. Jobs that need... muscle. Interested?" Oh my stars, I sound like an idiot.

    also, a mythweavers link

    Backstory
"Pilot a ship?! Yeah I can pilot a god damn ship." Vash snorted at the stupid question.
" I used to own one before a little accident involing me, A Very talanted Twi'Lek dancer and an asteroid. Now I drive."He looked bored of the conversation. Boring clients living boring lives.
The only exciting thing was running circles around the empire morons while doing something illegal.
But these cantina jobs were getting old. Fast....
The reddish hue of Vash made him look much scarier then he actually was. Thank god he was not born with pink skins like some of his kind were. There were going to be major problems trying to make your name as a pink Kel Dor. He looked at his blaster with a glazed look in his eye.He twirled it as if an extension of his hand. This thing was probably older then he is...

His uncle bought him this blaster right before the failed invasion of Dorin by general Grievious. His uncle was always burdened by the knowledge of things before they happened. And so he got a blaster, one from a junk vendor, but nevertheless a good weapon. After about 300 creds worth of repairs and maintenance. But it was a subtle weapon. Subtlety was something every person wanted nowadays. With the "Empire" being the top dog and all.

Growing up at Dorin was normal for a Kel Dor.His mother a medical bot repairer and his father a weapon merchant/tinkerer Kel Dor grew up as a mech head. The only thing that gave him a bit of versatility.A border line crazy uncle that was glued to his military weapon and worked for the armed forces gave a good push to Vash.Shortly after the Republic fell his uncle got shot. Not killed in action.Shot in the head like a dog from an "Imperial trooper".Self defence they claimed. He jumped them they said.Well Vash decided to steal their frigate and sell it to the nearest pirate world available. He was gone from Dorin and would not come back .Vash searched when he was travelling for a planet that could support him without a mask,to remind him of home, but the best thing there was were the bars. And good bars they were. Too bad twi'leks couldn't breath that combo of chemicals.

He took another deep breath from the mask. The duro duo infront of him was blinking dumb founded.
" Well? Are you going to pilot for us or not?"
    Vash nodded in agreement.
That twi'lek dancer really was ... talanted.

Vash Oen is pretty interesting just based on his race and class. Kel Dor are supposed to be so upright it always makes me happy to see one who has a bit of a lax moral code. Good work.

Do I have to purchase my lightsaber? I would assume I already had it.

I added a secondary blaster because the stealthy one turns out to have 1 charge. Still god for ambushes tho. And I switched my armor with a half jacket. And added some miscalenous items. Gonna go sleep.

The campaign sounds super cool so far! I am submitting EI-0 (aka "Zero"), a disgruntled, ex-network security droid. I will need to look through my books once I get off of work to write up the specifics, but it's likely going to be either scout or scoundrel.

Would the follower talents out of Clone Wars book be okay? I'm thinking it would be a nice touch to have a couple of "remotes" to fight for him, as accurately shooting with a blaster might be ... physically difficult given his design ;)

    Character Info
    EI-0 "Zero"
    Zero-1.png

"You need unrestricted access to a triple-encrypted ISB data storage network? Give me an access port and 40 seconds of physical security; you will have the access you require."
    - EI-0 "Zero", freelance security contractor

    Description
Floating a meter above the floor, EI-0 stares foward with his single, red glowing optic lens. A tiny bipedal humanoid-shaped body hangs beneath it's oversized head, swaying back and forth with the droid's hovering movement. EI-0's neck is barely visible through the array of data links, cables and adapters which hang from periphery the enlarged head. The droid's arms lay perpetually crossed across it's chest, with it's finely articulated fingers impatiently drumming on the droid's pronounced "pot belly." The unit's legs appear tiny compared to the egg-shaped head, and would likely not be effective at walking.

    Background
EI-0 is a custom network security droid that took a certain professional pride in his meticulous monitoring of the SoroSub main facility private holonet. Not even the tiniest data transfer went without a thorough screening by EI-0's monitoring routines. Not satisfied with any potential security failings that could endanger it's networks, EI-0 continually expanded his threat detection routines to neighboring systems. Before long the droid had quietly extended its security portfolio to include the facility's audio and video systems, employee access controls, and even the parking violation enforcement droids.

Unfortunately for EI-0, SoroSub's alliance with the newly established Galactic Empire necessitated that they re-evaluate their security (planning to overthrow one's government often brings that out in a corporation). They quickly came to the conclusion that EI-0's comprehensive systems control had made it a security threat that had to be dealt with.

Less than five processing cycles after they'd transmitted the memory-wipe request form to maintenance, EI-0 had the parking violation droids reprogramed. As the modified droids rioted, EI-0 slipped out of the compound. 12 hours later he was on a cargo freighter headed off-world, reviewing options for his new status as freelance security contractor.

    For Your Consideration:

    RC-6518 "Havok"

    13.jpg

RC-6518, known now only as Havok is a Mandalorian Warrior.

    Backstory:
One of the later batches of Republic Clone Commandos, Havok really took to the Mando'ade lifestyle of his trainers. Immersing himself in the culture and traditions, it was not a hard step at all for Havok to see that freedom, honor and glory were much more attractive than living out the rest of his artificially short life as a pawn of the Empire.

Order 66 was the last straw. Havok did his duty, alongside his brothers, in murdering thier Jedi General, Master Thorn. Thorn was a good man, and a good General. He cared for his soldiers and saw them right. Even at the end. The fight was short and brutal, Master Thorn accepting hit after hit from his squads blasters before finally, with tears in his eyes, fighting back. Havok was the only one walk away from that fight. And he walked all the way to Mandalore to join Kal Skirata and his super secret "Clone Underground."

When the Empire came to Mandalore looking for Beskar ore for thier war machine, Havok wanted to strike out at them. Knowing that it would bring ruin to his family if he did, Havok left Mandalore with Kal'Buir's blessing. Painting and scarring his armor so as not be instantly recognizable, Havok took to the stars. Living the Mandalorean lifestyle, he takes jobs as a mercenary, always with an eye out to hurt the Empire.

Havok is quite secretive about his heritage. Rarely ever removing his helmet and armor. And he NEVER speaks of his home on Mandalore. He has nothing but his armor and his weapons and his honor. He is Mando'ade. That's all he will ever need.

Sakutian: I rolled my starting cash (3d4=7) poorly and spent it all cash on 2 weapons and "took" my armor for free. With 100 creds in my pocket for food. Is that cool?

    Oren's backstory:

There is no emotion, there is peace.

There is no passion, there is serenity...

"There is no money, there is hunger" Oren chuckled to himself as his stomach interrupted his reverie. "It's only been 2 days since your last meal. Master Yoda would have told us 'Food you do not need, the Force, is all one needs, '" he said to his grumbling mid section.

Oren sat at the back of a rundown cantina in the lower levels of Coruscant. He stuck out even amongst the type of clientèle one would find in the seedy bar, as his clothes were tattered and dirty...only a barely pulled off mind trick got him past the bouncer at the door. Now he sat in a dark corner, alone and destitute.

As Oren debated with his stomach on whether it would be ok to try and Mind Trick the bartender for some food, he started to reflect back on the past few months. Only half a year ago he had been a naive, but promising Padawan at the Jedi Temple. The heroes Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi had defeated Count Dooku and saved the Chancellor. The war was all but won, as only Greivious remained.

Oren's master, Jedi Knight Quin Quix had taken him out on a practice mission just a few days later. It was to be a test run for the teenager before he and Quin would participate in their first real assignment...most likely a peace keeping mission to one of the former CIS worlds. By some sort of dumb luck, it had been during that mission that some unknown assailant lead a division of clone troopers to the Jedi Temple and slaughtered nearly everyone in there.

Since then, Oren and Quin had been in hiding in the lower levels of Coruscant. However it wasn't long before groups of Jedi hunters were scouring the newly formed "Galactic Empire" for any remaining Jedi. They had eluded detection for a few days, but just three days ago they were discovered and ambushed by 5 troopers lead by one of the Emperor's new inquisitors. Oren had been in another room of the homeless shelter they were hiding in when the troops stormed in. Quin fought admirably, killing all 5 troopers and wounding the inquisitor before he was killed. Oren, to his great shame, ran away at the mental urging of his master. Even while he ran, he felt the inquisitor in his mind. And he felt his amusement, as if he was saying "You're not worth the effort. Enjoy what remains of your pathetic life." Oren ran to exhaustion, and collapsed in an alleyway.

Now it was just a matter of waiting for death to come, either through starvation, the frequent crime in the area, or from another sweep of Jedi hunters. Oren didn't dare try and go to the surface, as that would mean certain death on his own. He had no friends, no experience outside of the temple, and no hope.

An old, worn service droid broke his thoughts. "Huh, what?" Oren asked. "I apologize sir. I was asking if you would care for some food," then looking him up and down "...or perhaps some soap and water?"

"Damn, looks like using a mind trick is out of the question," he thought. Oren pulled some of his last remaining credits from his pocket and gave them to the droid. "As long as it's warm and filling, I don't care what you bring. Thank you."

Oren again started to stare off into nothing...knowing there was very little hope left for him...

    Credits roll:

    Credit Roll (3d4=6x250 = 1500 credits)

    Equipment:

    1. Lightsaber - comes with character
    2. Comlink - 25 cr

For RP purposes I'm going to say he lost most of the rest either through theft or was conned out of it. Let's say he was 200 credits left.

Sorry I missed this submission earlier.

I don't have the Clone Wars book so if you could give me an idea what the Follower Talents are that'd be handy. If it's in the book though I'm pretty much sure that I'll allow it in the game.

Glad you're excited about the campaign, I did my best to get it off to a good start.

Oh and Heir, Oren's backstory is really good! Just for my own notes what species was his master?

Hmmm...I'll go with Duros. I made up Oren's master, and I think making him the same species as one of the other characters might be a fun idea. I'm sure Oren would find it shocking to meet another Duros who was a Scoundrel (and most likely very different than his master) . :)

Basically, in the Clone wars Campaign Guide, Scouts, Soldiers, and Nobles gain a line of talents based around "followers." You can have 3 followers maximum, and you have to spend your actions to make them do just about anything other than move.

... now that I think about it, I'll just PM you the long version. It's actually a nice little system they set up, me thinks. ;)

the GM can give force points as rewards. or certain force techniques allow you to restore spent force points. other than that, i dont see any way to get them back.

sak, can you give me some critique of my background? i was trying to go for something a little different from the normal submissions, and im not sure if i accomplished that or if it just came across as unfocused or unworkable or not serious.

Sure psolms I can give you a critique of Tissen's background. You certainly managed to do something different than the normal submissions, and I mean that in a good way. I enjoy the fact Tissen is sort of trying to live out his fantasy life like his holovid heroes. To me Tissen feels like a real person, someone you could actually meet while zooming around the galaxy. Dreaming of adventure but it doesn't go quite the way he planned.

also just throwing my two cents in the ring here, whenever the GM presents you with the option to roll your stats, especially via the 4d6 drop lowest method, you should do that! you will usually end up with a good, if not great array

    (4d6.takeHighest(3)=14, 4d6.takeHighest(3)=15, 4d6.takeHighest(3)=17, 4d6.takeHighest(3)=13, 4d6.takeHighest(3)=14, 4d6.takeHighest(3)=10)

that's an example of an array i got on my first roll, which is a 40 point buy array

yeah - as you will note, it's not full of 16s through 18s or anything, it just tends to produce arrays with more 12s-14s, which encourages characters to branch out a little bit, maybe consider taking up skills they hadn't thought about.

it sort of encourages that Star Wars feel where we see Leia help fly or fix the Falcon, and participate in shooting Stormtroopers; i mean, she's not a soldier, but it's cool that she can do those things thanks to a good stat array
