I like having political talks with actual anarchists and communists
not because i agree with them exactly, but in the states anyone that claims to be either literally has no idea what they are talking about
Anarchism is also a conception that I am fond of. I am aware that its pretty much impossible, though. Its something that i'd like to see in science fiction novels/movies and such, just to take a glimpse at what could be a perfect world :I
This has happened/is happening on a small scale. Though its way more like "libertarian socialism" than anarchy per se.

i think everyone can agree it would be awesome if no laws were needed and we could all work together for the greater good of humanity
but uh
that doesn't happen
well see that is exactly my point!
oh wait I can solve this
we just need to put a chip in everyone's brains, or give them some kind of drug that keeps them happy and non-violent all the time!
wait Swill what kind of conservative opinions did you have
also you have to consider you were living in Portland
my opinion was not all police were bad people
just far too many
got me in huge fights at the house i was living in
oh another one:
don't steal from charity organizations
their opinion was steal everything every chance you got
haha, wow
sorry but it sounds like you hung out with some terrible people
you met one of them!
but anywho
they are not bad people, they just haven't fully been able to realize (in my opinion) that solutions like that do not work in the real world
the distrust of the police thing doesn't make you a terrible person really, but that stealing thing is completely indefensible. how did they argue that one?
I imagine most houses in the southern united states are just made of guns
not even welded or affixed together with anything
just skilfully stacked and interwoven
an art form, really
that can in a matter of hours be broken down into enough armaments for hundreds of militia
I aint scared of no american redneck, bring 'em on
Have you seen that episode of Top Gear where they get shot at by some people in Alabama? I would be scared. But there are people in the UK I would be scared of too.
refused to lock doors or put passwords on things
if someone in the house did something, they just got away with it because they did not believe in enforcing rules
the most conformist sexual politics i have ever heard of, despite the fact that they were attempting to be unique
I think that you have a strange idea of an armed populace, Dadouw. Just because people have the ability to buy guns doesn't mean that they are dangerous and going to shoot people or actually rise up against the government. Do you really think that agrarian people just go around shooting at gay people and muslims in the area?
Armed violence is a thing that happens across the country, and, unsurprisingly, more so in urban areas, where you wouldn't classify the populace as "rednecks"

Yep, every single redneck in America, gun racks full to bursting up on their monster trucks
to be fair America has a whole has many more guns than it needs
oh yeah, and the thing that makes people think i am super liberal is the fact that i don't think people should be allowed to have guns without purpose*
purpose here being defined as hunting, or other extreme circumstances

I don't think they were shot at.
Also they knew something like that was going to go down.
They were acting like hyper versions of ugly Americans.

I'm not necessarily against that, although I don't think banning weapons is necessarily the right response to crime
but enacting such a thing would require amending the US Constitution

Look all I'm saying is that you guys have a shit load of gun murders each year and we only have one every summer solstice
I aint going further down that road, and if you guys havent realized that i love to exagerate my statements and use hyperboles, well i think now would be a right time to do so

I don't disagree with you but just the fact that the supposed international image of America is of a redneck with his guns is hilarious to me when it's such a small part of the population
And yes, you're probably more likely to be shot at in some urban environment than you are in rural Alabama
I think anarchy could work on some smaller levels. Take Linux, for example!
edit: or actually what firmskater said
Also Somalia is lovely this time of year
That's not anarchy. Rule of law is still enforced, it's simply enforced in small tribal areas wherein rule of law is defined by Warlord whims. It is still law, and it is still an act of governance.
Humanity without government does not exist short of being a hermit. You simply have varying degrees of acknowledging that one person holds authority over another.

Yeah, all the hunters and gun owners I know (mostly in the family) keep them all locked up tight in the basement, with maybe a pistol in a safe in the bedroom closet. They are kept clean, unloaded, and untouched until they are actually going hunting.
Guns are expensive and will last a lifetime if you're keeping proper care, and all but the deep, Deliverance-type Rednecks will do so.

Yes, this is the point I was attempting to make with that joke. An actual political system of "Anarchism" would last all of about five minutes, and I don't think people would like what comes afterwards, unless of course they were the ruling gang in their areas, which is what I think a lot of anarchist fantasies ultimately boil down to even if their proponents are unable to acknowledge it.

Lesson 1 in reading english:
Read first, comment second.
Mmmmm....toasty.
Also Somalia is lovely this time of year
Rules that are enforced is what brings society together and tries to separate us from our base, animalistic nature
Anarchy is quite silly
warm baths with cartoons on a big screen

I posit that you are biased

my extended family is a perfect example of exactly that
that is a healthy fear I think
personally I have trouble with the desire to be around more people who think like I do
Oh no that makes my joke completely irrelevent
Serves me right! I guess im unable to understand english language!
Or perhaps I'm becoming more aware of how it really is. Which is, you know, pretty normal.
