Anarchism is also a conception that I am fond of. I am aware that its pretty much impossible, though. Its something that i'd like to see in science fiction novels/movies and such, just to take a glimpse at what could be a perfect world :I

This has happened/is happening on a small scale. Though its way more like "libertarian socialism" than anarchy per se.

wait Swill what kind of conservative opinions did you have

also you have to consider you were living in Portland

my opinion was not all police were bad people

    just far too many

got me in huge fights at the house i was living in

    oh another one:

    don't steal from charity organizations

their opinion was steal everything every chance you got

    haha, wow

sorry but it sounds like you hung out with some terrible people

    you met one of them!

    but anywho

they are not bad people, they just haven't fully been able to realize (in my opinion) that solutions like that do not work in the real world

the distrust of the police thing doesn't make you a terrible person really, but that stealing thing is completely indefensible. how did they argue that one?

I imagine most houses in the southern united states are just made of guns

not even welded or affixed together with anything
    just skilfully stacked and interwoven
    an art form, really
that can in a matter of hours be broken down into enough armaments for hundreds of militia

They certainly were an odd bunch

refused to lock doors or put passwords on things
if someone in the house did something, they just got away with it because they did not believe in enforcing rules

I think that you have a strange idea of an armed populace, Dadouw. Just because people have the ability to buy guns doesn't mean that they are dangerous and going to shoot people or actually rise up against the government. Do you really think that agrarian people just go around shooting at gay people and muslims in the area?

Armed violence is a thing that happens across the country, and, unsurprisingly, more so in urban areas, where you wouldn't classify the populace as "rednecks"

That's not anarchy. Rule of law is still enforced, it's simply enforced in small tribal areas wherein rule of law is defined by Warlord whims. It is still law, and it is still an act of governance.

Humanity without government does not exist short of being a hermit. You simply have varying degrees of acknowledging that one person holds authority over another.

Yeah, all the hunters and gun owners I know (mostly in the family) keep them all locked up tight in the basement, with maybe a pistol in a safe in the bedroom closet. They are kept clean, unloaded, and untouched until they are actually going hunting.

Guns are expensive and will last a lifetime if you're keeping proper care, and all but the deep, Deliverance-type Rednecks will do so.

Yes, this is the point I was attempting to make with that joke. An actual political system of "Anarchism" would last all of about five minutes, and I don't think people would like what comes afterwards, unless of course they were the ruling gang in their areas, which is what I think a lot of anarchist fantasies ultimately boil down to even if their proponents are unable to acknowledge it.
