I have a 3D TV, and games look great on it in 3D. So I had a fistful of Best Buy gift cards and was able to get a 500ish dollar 3D PC monitor for around 200 bucks. I went with the purchase because there are tons more supported 3D PC games than console games.
Anyway the monitor came today and I'm having issues out the ass with it, and hope that somebody here might know what is wrong and help me, or be able to point me in the right direction. 90% of the games that I've tried to play with this new monitor have completely fucked UIs, there seems to be more aliasing than there really should be, and even with tweaking the 3D isn't as impressive as anything I've played on my 3D TV. This monitor got good reviews, so something has to be wrong somewhere.
Anyway the major UI issues which is making games unplayable is worst with WoW and anything Steam related (IE steam overlay, or any menu options in source games). I can't even read these things.
Help, so I don't have to take back this monitor, I already sold my other one. =P

I gave up on making it look good and now use it as a 3RD monitor
So you are saying you had the same horseshit experience I did?
The UI problems drove me crazy and the 3D never looked all that great. Maybe I didn't try hard enough looking on Google for configurations to make it look good, but meh. I got it with a video card as a bundle for cheap enough that I didn't bother returning it.
Well I'm betting that we both did something wrong somewhere, because headliner games for the service shouldn't have issues like this. You don't have something be 3D certified if it isn't even playable. I'm currently re-installing the latest drivers and software just to be absolutely certain.
Asus 23" 3D monitor, Nvidia 3D kit, games like TF2, Borderlands, UT3, that I've tested are supported by the Nvidia 3D software. I downloaded the latest drivers and software, and as soon as I start a game, if it is supported it jumps into 3D. I just have to adjust the wheel on the back of the receiver to converge the image, but doing that kills the depth, so it seems like that's only half of the equation.

Other people in the thread though have this issue because their shutter glasses were not blacking out all the way. Another suggestion from an Nvidia employee was to disable dynamic contrast, I'm not really convinced that would be the problem, but you should turn that off anyway.
I really, really, hope this is legitimately new technology at the prices its going for...
In the year 2000 my nvidia Geforce 2 GTS came with a free pair of shutter glasses to make it 3d...
The 3D was alright I guess... Not anything special though.
I fully think that shutter glasses are a compete and utter ripoff for the pure fact that before this huge 3D push you could get a pair for pennies, now it's at least 100-150 bucks for what is ostensibly the same thing.
Smart Contrast is already off on the monitor, and the keyboard commands for altering the convergence don't work. I hit ctrl+F5 and F6, and nothing happens. I don't think that it is an issue of the glasses not blacking out all the way because the 3 games that I have tried that are 3D Vision certified look fine, but the games that are rated great or excellent have ghosting. Is there any way of changing the shutter speed without fucking with the registry? Any other ideas, because this is bumming me out.
Edit: Scratch that, I've noticed some Ghosting on Supersonic Sled and that's a certified game designed for it. I'd only tested WoW for a few minutes before and not seen ghosting, but now I've played for a little longer and I am noticing some minor ghosting on buildings and such.
Otherwise, I'm about out of ideas for how to help you.
http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=188703&st=0&gopid=1165712&#entry1165712 some more info in another thread I made in the last couple of posts. I get severe almost complete ghosting in those test images.
Not quite the same thing, the old ones refreshed at 60hz (I think), these at 120hz. Doubling the speed they have to open and close is a pretty technical thing.
They're still a rip off though but I can see why.
Have you tried fiddling with brightness/contrast to reduce the ghosting?

The difference between the old ones and the new ones is minimal.
I did some testing with Nvidia's 3D tester and I get ghosting with 120hz and 100hz. So turning that down in the test didn't help.
