If you ever look at photo pages from conventions where celebrities take photos with fans, there's a phenomenon where nerdy guys who get pictures with hot actresses pose like they have an arm around them or are hugging them.
If you look closely, it's an air hug. They get as close as possible without touching. Like they're hovering over it. It's both depressing and hilarious.

It's probably for the best

Now that you know about it, you won't be able to stop seeing it in fan photos. There used to be a really good photo album with Summer Glau and dozens of pictures of guys doing a hover hug at some convention.
