The 360 version of Pirates (to choose one) got a 55 on gamerankings.com. That's pretty damn bad.
Rule of thumb: most movie-based video games released at the same time as the movie will range from fairly crappy to extremely crappy, with rare exceptions.
It's not amazingly awesome, but it's pretty above-average for a license game.
Be especially wary if they feel the need to put "The Game" into the title.

it's realtime and you can chain attacks
An exception, since DS version aside King Kong was a pretty good game.
See that's because it has both Game and Movie in its title. They kind of negate each other out.

Goldeneye, riddick, The Warriors, Spider-Man 2 (not played 1 or 3), A wide range of Star Wars Games, I hear good things about the LOTR movie games, and tones more that don't come to mind right now.
The Two Towers movie game was pretty fun, actually.
Aside from Spidey, the rest weren't released concurrently, were they?
I can't remember whether Goldeneye was, I imagine not though. I think Riddick came out at the same time as the film. The Warriors was like 20 years later or summet, depends on which star wars games...

Best fucking video game based movie, EVER. Ok, maybe besides Goldeneye. It was a blast to play.
So in a nutshell, that's my review: it's the kind of game some dude's girlfriend would like.

It has some neat ideas, and ship battles have the potential to be fun, but it has a loooong way to go.

I just find it amusing that Square Enix managed to make a better looking and more accurate Jack Sparrow than Disney's own development house, and on a far less powerful system to boot.
that said, I am interested in seeing a video of the Wii version sword fighting mechanics. licensed games can sometimes be fun.
