I need to find the cheapest motherboard in existence that will support an I3-550 out of the box

I have a friend who bought a board, an intel board and it required a bios update, since he didn't have a different 1156 processor lying about he couldn't update it and the website wouldn't accept a return because it was used (?)

Anyway he wants to just get the cheapest that will support it and I'm having trouble finding CPU support lists for some of these, and wondered if there are any hardware gurus here who might know

Newegg, believe it or not, I haven't ever had an issue though so I think he just gave up too easily, thanks Esh but most of those boards do not, in fact, support a 550 out of the box... at least not all BIOS revisions of them do and it's a crapshoot which one you get

    Or

Either one of those two should work for you. One of the people reviewing the asus says that's the cpu they used. The Asrock board also has that cpu supported on their website.
Now find it locally or tell newegg to exchange it for you, because that's total bullshit. Or get intel to swap out that board for proper firmware. Motherboards are one of those things I like to buy in person for just this kind of reason.
