I am breaking up the band because that is what Jack White does

The White Stripes were a rock duo out of Detroit. They released 6 albums, the most recent being Icky Thump, alongside two concert movies. You may have also known them as "That band that did the 'seven nation' thing, you know the one chanted at soccer games?"

Yes, past tense. They've broken up.

This shouldn't be a surprise, given that their last tour was canceled midway through, and it's been 4 years since they've released an album. Also, Jack White's been spending all of his time with his two other bands, the Raconteurs and the Dead Weather.

One of the quirkier bands out there, they proved that you didn't need a bass to be rockers.

    they also proved you didn't need much of a drummer

    That sucks. I'm kind of bummed. Theirs were some of the first albums I ever bought with my own money and I always wished I could see them live. :( oh well

    Jack White married somebody else a few years back. I think it was a model who appeared in one of their music videos.

    My fiance's brother used to date Meg White, and he will bring it up in every conversation ever. It was sad, she moved to Detroit and just left him in her mansion.

    They got married and jack took meg's last name. They didnt like each other as much as they thought and got divorced. But that was after they started the band i think. So when they got big they told everyone they were brother and sister because they had the same last name still. But they are still good friends anyway.
