I think I'll probably do this. Just want to be sure I'll be around all the days and such.

I'd like to make a few recommendations, though, for the Boston part.

-Eat a raw oyster at the Union Oyster House oyster bar.
-Eat a cannoli at Mike's Pastries.
-See the Zakim bridge at night.

i'm going to have to disagree on the cannoli. if you've got to wait in line to get into mike's, you'll likely miss the entire con.

Well, they said March 9 through March 14, soooo the days before the con can be spent in line in preparation for being in the lines for Pax.

I will have to disagree on the raw oyster, I just really don't like them.

And as every single restaurant warns these days, eating undercooked meat or eggs can be hazardous to your health. :P

I think there should be some popular food places that should go on the list. I think it'll be impossible for someone to like(and do) everything that will be on the list.

Neither do I! If it ends up on the list, I won't be doing it, but I put it because it's a part of Boston history. It's important! :)

    Consider me signed up!

The only thing I'm wondering about is the Around Boston section. I mean, 7-Eleven and Dunkin Donuts are hardly Boston-only destinations, I don't see why they would show up here. According to my hasty wikipedia search, it seems that at least Dunkin started in Quincy, but I could just as easily get a photo in one of almost any town north of the Mason-Dixon line.

My feelings are, if you're wanting (and have the time) to see Boston, you'd be doing the Magical Mystery Tour. I think the scavenger hunt should be reined in to the con itself. Just my two cents :)

I agree about the Dunkin/7-11 thing and they probably won't make the final list.

The List is more of a brainstorming session. It will mostly center PAX itself and community events. Perhaps the things that are "Around Boston" can be centered around the stops on the MMT which will visit most of the popular sites anyways.

As in the rules, I'd hope people turn on timestamping and they don't be a dick when submitting pictures. Considering its more for fun and exploration I don't see the point in cheating. The prizes are gonna be small and more of a "Great Job!" sort of a thing.

Sure, I didn't mean to suggest anything of the sort, I was simply underscoring the fact that it is not an experience very unique to Boston.

You're absolutely right though! I guess being mostly from the south when I went to Boston for the first time and saw a Dunkin Donuts on every corner almost I thought it was unique. haha

Dunkin' Donuts certainly aren't unique to Boston, but they are much more common in New England than elsewhere. It's sort of silly, but it's an "area" type thing you can do. Similar to eating New England clam chowder (and yes, I realize that's available all over the country).

yeah, it's less about the presence of dunkin donuts and more about the ridiculous super-saturation. like if you could take a picture of two dunkin donuts within sight of each other, that would be very boston.

I have been thinking about how I want to do The List. The more I think about the Scavenger Hunt the more I think this might be one of the best ways to be inspired to checkout PAX fully and take pictures.

Anyways, below is a rough idea of what I am thinking. The - marks would be objectives for that area. MMT has 10 because there's a lot to experience those 2 days.

Yes, there may be a lot of objectives but I'm not expecting someone to complete the entire list. There should be something for everybody and casual hunters can enjoy it. I'm sure someone will definitely complete the list though once its final. :)

    Woo 20 people!

Heleor has brought up a good point though. If an objective involves a person then it will be pretty inconvenient for that person to have to take picture with bunch of people. So, I might not require people to be present in pictures unless they choose to be. Let me know what you guys think.

Again the goal of the scavenger hunt is to have fun and explore PAX and it's community events. They will be prizes but they're not worth you killing yourself over trying to complete all the objectives on the list.
