Dumb? Protecting the people of this fleet is not "dumb." Population doesn't really come back when it's lost, morale does.

    The choices were really.

    A) -1 Morale, - action, -a buncha cards
    OR
    B) -1 Population, -2 cards

The question is if morale vs. pop was worth the lost actions and cards.

Of course, the lost actions and cards wouldn't be a factor if our president wasn't so adamant on being president again. :P

Well I'm kinda glad you guys are still arguing about that instead of yelling at me for needlessly scouting the destination deck, but allow me to explain my thought process anyway since I'm on a computer now:

I was going to scout the crisis deck and get us some good old fashioned jump prep so the Cylons jump in and we instantly jump away, but then Darian said we didn't really need to, so I thought "Aha! Destination!" and I scouted it, not remembering that he already had done so, probably because he did it on an XO.

But yeah, I'm an idiot and I wasted a card and an action. Although on the plus side, I think it's safe to say that Darian is 100% not a cylon. So...I guess some good came out of it? I will pay more attention from now on.

Sorry if you think I was getting defensive about the whole losing the presidency thing.

Really though, I chose a political leader because I wanted to try playing as the president for a game, only to have someone take it away the first chance they got, without even asking. I felt dicked over. You'd be pissed off too if you wanted to play as the admiral, only for someone to take it away before you could make a jump or anything.

Turn 8: Anastasia "Dee" Dualla (Stiles)

    Crisis Step: Truth and Reconciliation

President Tom Zarek (Plutonium) must choose:
    A) -1 morale and President Tom Zarek (Plutonium) must choose a character to send to the "Brig".
    OR
B)President Tom Zarek (Plutonium) discards 2 Skill Cards, then current player Anastasia "Dee" Dualla (Stiles) discards 3 Skill Cards.

Plutonium chooses option B, discarding Politics 0 - Red Tape and Leadership 0 - Iron Will. Stiles discards Tactics 0 - Trust Instincts, Tactics 2 - Launch Scout, and Engineering 3 - Scientific Research

Zarek restrains himself from taking extreme action against other members of the fleet.

After Crisis: Activate Basestars, Advance Jump Preparation
Since there are no Basestars on the main board, and both Basestars are on the Cylon Fleet board, the Basestar in the fore (9 o'clock) position jumps in to meet the main fleet. The Pursuit Track advances to Level 5 and the rest of the Cylon fleet jumps in after it.

Jump preparation advances to level 6, jumping the fleet. All Cylon ships are returned to the Cylon Fleet board and all vipers return to the reserves, Dracil moving to the hangar deck. (Civilian ships stay where they are.) Professor Phobos draws the top two cards of the destination deck and chooses one to resolve...

Interesting destination, though now we're in a fuel deficit.

Did you guys who scouted expect to go here?

    Plutonium on

The fuel deficit sucked. The other destination had a better fuel-to-distance ratio, but not as much total distance; the accelerated jump track was a nice bonus, too. We'll have to trawl the Tactics deck for the Scout-for-Fuel card.

Should I risk triggering saul in command? Getting vipers out would be nice since I can effectively clean two civs in one go I think.

If you have an XO, I can pop back in there and launch a couple without risking him; you can jump in one and do your CAG stuff, as well.
I'd hate to see our only pilot end up in the brig for no good reason; I'd rather see you out there watching over the civilians.

And no, that's not at all where I was expecting us to end up, but I cannot reveal what the other destination was. Suffice to say, were I choosing between those two, this isn't where we would have ended up.

edit: Actually, you could launch yourself, bring another out with your CAG action, then XO me, if you have one.

I'd wait on Stiles to see if he agrees that the destination was the worse of the two before making any choices.

He might have some insight as to whether it might be right to activate Tigh and possibly use him to potentially brig the admiral, since he placed the trauma token on it.

    Plutonium on
  • StilesStiles Registered User regular
    edited March 2011
But if you did activate command, you could hop in one of the vipers you launch. Then you could activate an extra viper and still give out an XO to Darian or whoever.

The other destination was pretty good, although I guess I can see why the Admiral chose this one. We should be able to jump again without the Cylons closing in though, so plenty of time for repairing/quoruming.

As for Tigh, last I heard he was in a good mood. Not sure if this destination choice would be worth brigging though.

Ahh, Saul's a "may" choice. I thought it was obligatory for some reason.

Yeah, hopping over there and activating might be a pretty good choice. You get two mark VII's out, hop into one, use your CAG action to evacuate one ship, and use your bonus action to either evacuate another or send out an XO.

Darian makes a good point. Who could make use of an XO the most?

I would prefer Dee or Gaeta if either has 2 repair cards since that would be the most efficient use of an XO, otherwise, everyone is pretty much equal if they're gonna have to move somewhere.

It was a tough call because of the fuel deficit, but if I were a Cylon, I'd have picked the other destination. The slower the humans go, the better it is for the Cylons. A fuel shortage was worth hitting Distance 3 on the first jump. Not that the other destination was bad, just that faster > slower, all other things being equal.

Well, I'm just gonna go to the Hangar Deck, launch in a Mk7 at 5 o'clock, use my CAG action to launch another viper mk7 at 7 o'clock, then use my bonus action to clear a civilian at 5 o'clock.

Turn 9: CAG Lee "Apollo" Adama (Dracil)

Movement Step: Dracil remains in the Hangar Deck.
Action Step: Dracil launches in a Viper Mk. VII to the port-quarter (5 o'clock) location. He uses his CAG action to launch a Viper Mk. VII to the port-bow (7 o'clock) and his bonus action to escort the civilian ship from his area.

After the jump, Apollo is back out in space to conduct regular patrols to watch over the civilians. He comes across a lone raider separated from the rest of the cylons. Could this be a good opportunity to try and salvage some useful materials?

    Crisis Step: Analyze Enemy Fighter

Current Player Lee "Apollo" Adama (Dracil) must choose:
    A) Skill Check [7] Tactics + Engineering
    Pass: Repair 1 destroyed Raptor.
    Fail: -1 population.
    OR
    B) Roll a die. If 4 or lower, -1 population and current player Lee "Apollo" Adama (Dracil) discards 2 Skill Cards.

After Crisis: Activate Raiders, Advance Jump Preparation

As the Pursuit Track will be advancing, a civilian ship will need to be placed on the board. Dracil, you'll need to make that decision as well.
