Oh fuck it's on Netflix Instant?
Fuck, I'm never doing anything productive with my life ever again

YESSSSS.
I'm probably the only one who's entertained when I do it but he has such a fun demeanor to mimic

You just ruined multiple episodes for the uninitiated sir!
i'm pretty sure watching the outer limits as a kid made me love short horror fiction and SF - a lot of the stuff I was writing a few years ago mimicked Twilight Zone structures fairly well
another thing that is similar to twilight zone's turnabout structure is the scp foundation (i had to link to the stuff i wrote, because i'm an attention whore.)
also many of stephen king's best short fiction pieces are similar to TZ. i'm thinking particularly of the finger and 1408.
horror is amazing
Why would you say that!?!?!?!
Edit: Disregard that, I would've said that too.
Oh yeah, this show was one the best written TV shows of all time and it was wayyy ahead of its time.
They seem to have The Outer Limits as well.
I don't think I've ever seen that one.
I remember having seen that episode before it was spoiled for me. The reveal is so well done.
Welcome to the world on this side.
There was another one that was very similar
Two neighbors are having a party when the radio says that the USSR have launched missiles
One neighbor has a bomb shelter and he hustles his family in there but the other family is left outside
And the two husbands who start as best friends arguing more and more heatedly
One trying to get in and the other trying to keep him out

Two words: Luke. Perry.
You are welcome.
Also, did anyone else listen to The Shadow?
I suppose only the shadow knows.
It's a lot of fun!

It's silly

Holy god what a good episode
As a concept it's extremely compelling and presents a bunch of really interesting questions, a lot of which are addressed within the episode itself!
It is still so hard for me to believe that a show this smart existed back in the day
<3
I fucking love The Shadow but it is difficult to find the original radio broadcasts these days

God I am so glad I am not the only one who does this
I was hoping you would enjoy this thread Orik! Please feel free to recommend more good horror stuff because I can never find any of the good stuff ever (outside of King's short stories)

The one with Dennis Hopper as a wannabe neo-Nazi who starts getting advice from a shadowy figure on how to rally the people, and after everything goes wrong you find out it was the ghost of Adolf Hitler
Fuck, I love that one

???
going to watch some twilight zone later
Read it as a short story first. Scared the tar out of me.
Then I saw the actual episode, and so help me, the one thing I could think was "These people are CHUMPS who deserve everything they have coming"
I mean, it's the cold war. You're supposed to be paranoid. Ever heard "Beware of Greeks baring gifts"?

Man lives in the sunlit world of what he believes to be reality.
But... there is, unseen by most, an underworld, a place that is just as real,
but not as brightly lit... a DARKSIDE.
A long time ago I was reading a Twilight Zone book on a long road trip
After finishing one of the longer stories (Something about a ghost train maybe?) I was jostled awake, only to discover that I had imagined the entire last half of the story in my dream, and the real thing read completely differently.
That is some meta Twilight Zone business right there
Agreed on 24 hours. Brutal stuff.
It's a cruel god with all the caprice and nastiness that implies. Also right on the hard to find.
Chesterton sometimes starts a horror mood, and the man is good at it. Then, all of the sudden?
BAM. Punchline. Whole thing defused.
But how do you know that you dreamed it?

I rather liked Mr. B. Gone for it's conceit that the book is possessed and talking at you, but he could have gone a lot more interesting with fonts and formatting and such and it really doesn't end so much as it screeches to a halt
