The bad side of this is that they probably don't support the program anymore in any way, so if something is broken, you're SOL.

Recording with Hypercam and NOT having the watermark enabled should be a bannable offense.

Well, good news on that, I think SA wrote up a script for Avisynth that adds the watermark back.

Thats kinda neat. Good to know thats free now in case anyone needs a back up. Pales next to FRAPS though mind. But then you have to pay for fraps, so pro and con there.

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwsome. So it seems that in the months I haven't used it my Gamebridge has decided to stop working. Specifically, I can't get it to capture video anymore, although audio seems ok.

So are there any recommendations for cheap capture devices?

Ha, the HD version is kind of a joke. You can't actually record HD videos on it, you can only edit in HD with the software.

Mind you, I've had a couple requests in the past to link to channels in the past, and the people asking me to do so were only here to have me link them stuff for views. Mmm... I think I worded myself wrong the first time, here's what I meant:

I do want to start a topic here for my LP, which I will use for additional commentary and feedback. However, the meat of the LP will be hosted on my server and I will link to every chapter as I finish it. This is because it's a lot easier (and faster) for me to set up the pictures and text and do any sorts of double-checking. The LP will still be with this forum in mind, since it will be here where I will be posting the updates first.

I have the first chapter fully screenshotted and written, and the next two chapters screenshotted. I can upload a preview tonight when I get home from work to give you an idea on how does it look.

The game is Fire Emblem: Thracia 776, by the way.

Oh, yeah if you have your own host for images that's no problem whatsoever. In fact I've encouraged that in the past for image hosting solutions.

Thracia is one of my all time favorite games.

That was Genealogy of the Holy War that was done here several years ago. Thracia 776 is the one with Leaf as the main lord and a side story to GotHW.

So, either subtitle VLPs are easier to edit than voice-commentary VLPs, or Brütal Legend is easier to make an LP out of than Demon's Souls.

Just tried Hypercam, it's pretty good, but I just did a 7 minute test video (24fps@640x480) and it came up as 10.4gb, tried another codec and now it looks like ass. Not that bad a performance hit though.

I'll keep fidgeting.

Here is the preview of my FE5 LP (first half of Chapter 1) for those interested. Later chapters are not going to have as many screenshots, since I take my time to explain several mechanics in Chapter 1. This is just to give you an idea of the format.

And the game gets a lot more exciting as we advance.

Out of interest when compressing videos of games with modern-day graphics, how long does it take compared with how long a set is for you guys?

For me, it takes roughly three times the length of a set is to compress it. I feel this is longer than it should reasonably be, but even with massively lowered video quality settings I still see about the same amount of time to compress. The only thing that seems to have any effect is changing the recording resolution.

I've been watching a lot of BlueXephos recently. I mean they mostly do Minecraft stuff but they show off a lot of the custom adventures people have made and the actual main adventure they've got going has been customised and added to and they have other people playing NPC parts and are living in NPC villages, that kind of thing.

I give these guys a pass because it looks like a lot of effort has been made to create the adventure and they are really funny at times.

Still, Minecraft should be added to the same list as IWBTG. no one needs to LP that game ever again.

Afterlife. It'll likely be a short LP since I'm going to cut the fat. The idea is people giving me general decisions / directions to go in, and the execution is up to me to screw up. Because I suck at those kinda games.
