And as for the preloading stuff..
Doesn't that just mean you'll be able to play it the same time all of the console people do?
With steam you have to download and then install before you can play... where as with console you just pop it in and go.
Think they're just removing that step..
(please correct me if I'm wrong, just stating my understanding of it)

If you preload it you'll be able to play it as soon as they turn on the flag to let you on the 19th. I think the contention is the console versions aren't hitting stores on the 19th.

According to their site, Amazon, and GameStop, it's being released on the 19th o_O
I guess those who bought Steam will be able to play first thing in the morning...?

They have a series of switches and a big red button that activates the game on Steam.
apparently the potato sack games are getting patched with some portal-themed levels
the speculation being that beating those levels gets your portal 2 unlocked at the earlier date
I find it hard to believe that Valve would make people who bought Portal 2 buy something else to play Portal 2, even if its playing Portal 2 early. I hope they wouldn't do that.

It's not often I get to say this; the PS3 version really is far and away the best this time. I mean, it comes with a free copy of the PC version. How much better can it get? XD

if you've seen the potato sack pack on steam, all the games in it have potato themes in them
potato being Portal Two
achieving certain things in the games will get you potatoes on your profile, like this one http://steamcommunity.com/id/sgtwaffles/
also this message was found somewhere in one of the games i think:
"4/19/2011_7AM=4/15/2011_9AM"
which might mean an early release for the game
there's a bunch of other crap related to portal in the games as well, new levels in all the games and some goodies

Or unlock Sonic and Tails as playable co-op characters.

Coran Attack!
360 players can play with 360 players.
The PS3 version is coming with the biggest prizes, imo.
If I were you, I'd go for the PC version!
Coran Attack!
The 360 version is really getting the shaft, imo.
It's not Valve's fault; they wanna release tonnes of DLC and such; Microsoft are gonna charge for that. .
Coran Attack!
If only I had a PS3.
Just preordered the second one, and everyone seems to already have the first so I have nobody to give it to
Add me on steam (link in sig) if you would like it!

I wish I understood the potato ARG.
Screw you, boot camp

i recently listened to my friend play Portal: Still Alive for the first time ever. He'd never even seen it before
that is an interesting experience to watch unfold.
