Alright, too burned out right now to continue playing games. I don't think Toki Tori is really something that was meant to be played for many hours at a time.
It is a neat little game, but yes, this is true. That's the part where I think the ARG falls down the most---somehow award people for what they do in game as opposed to simple time spent.
That's why tons of people are likely just idling at this point.

I want Cave Johnson to pitch me every idea his company has ever created. I would pay for a Cave Johnson simulation game.
Portal 2 is actually just a joke and it's not going to be released. Instead on Tuesdays we'll get another countdown to where we are offered a buy-one-get-one free Mountain Dew coupon.
Had to edit your post there slightly.
Just got all the Defense Grid Potatoes, so much crazy nonsense going on for this ARG.
Your Aperture Science Cooperative Testing Type is:

Stalwart and dependable, you're always willing to give a friend the shirt off your back, a shoulder to cry on, or a step up. Compatible cooperative test partners include shirtless people who can't stop crying while they use you as stairs.

Cave Johnson
You don't see crises-only challengitunities you choose to scale like mountains. You're a can-do, shoot-from-the-hip, silver-tongued self-starter. You're a good match for any cooperative test partner, providing they shut up and listen.

Did Valve choose what order we should complete these games in? Killing Floor has had more CPUs than any other game since the countdown launched.
thats almost certainly because it just has a larger normal playerbase than all of these more indie games and its just people who would be playing it anyways playing it

The theory is weakest to hardest, as relatively speaking each game contributes the same overall % to the bar. By doing the easier ones, the date gets moved forward. More bang for your buck, essentially.
1) If we fail to fill all bars, we at least got a bit of bump at the end.
2) We had no idea what filling a bar did at the beginning, so a fast one was a wise choice to better plot our approach.
3) Now that we know what filling a bar does, the difference hasn't been too great to focus on a big game.
4) Big games are popular, and thus will fill better on their own than the smaller games.
5) By the time we do the big games, we'll have more potatoes and get more mileage out of them.

So as it stands right now the countdown is a ballpark 36 hours.
That put's the release around early morning Tuesday.
Isn't that practically when the game is going to be released anyhow?
So what is the point of all this again?
Actually, I'm using the script that was posted here earlier, which predicts the release as roughly 24 hours from now (the 36 is just the release if we don't fill the bars and goes down a little each time one game is done).
It's not much of an improvement, but it's something.
I think of all the bars that need to finish in the next 40 hours, Amnesia may have the most trouble. Just because it's not a game that people really sit in and play like say, Killing Floor, or Audiosurf.
Actually I think Audiosurf will finish up without any focus from the community, it's got so many constant players. Though I can't fathom why, I never thought it was terribly good at syncing up against the music you give it.
Kudos to this sale by Valve, though. I'd have never played Killing Floor otherwise, and that seems like a right proper fun game.
Anyone else have any undiscovered gems that cropped up from exposure to this pack?
I'm still figuring we'll either see it tonight after 9pm or Monday night.
Tonight is a bit tricky as it would imply someone at Valve flipping a switch, and we all know no one wants to work on the weekend. Monday night seems more plausible as it would mean they've had the day to figure out their game plan for dealing with bugs and such.
Should be interesting I doubt all this work will result in Tuesday morning vs. night. At the very least we're going to get it Monday.
If there's no potato-related boost or something, I would be very surprised if all the games get finished at this rate. Once Bit Trip Beat is done, there will be nothing but vastly slower games left to finish. Killing Floor alone will take an eternity even if everybody focuses on it. If all we get is the reductions to the countdown then it might not be released before early Tuesday morning, which is a wash for me since I won't get to play it until Tuesday night anyway. The only other real hope is that the slower games chop off considerably more time from the countdown.

There are 4 options I see.
1. A speed boost will occur at 70%. I'm not entirely sure why I see this being said everywhere, but it seems to be a popular theory.
2. A speed boost will occur at 500k potatoes. But then, we've been saying the same thing about every round number of potatoes.
3. Each bar completed speeds up the rest at a geometric rate, so that by the time we get to Killing Floor, it'll only take an hour or so.
4. GG, Valve. G fucking G.

^I think option 3 is a given - every bar has filled faster than the one before it.
I'm more curious to see what happens when we hit 7 games completed. That would put us at 50% completion of the potato sack. Not all that impressive, but still interesting.
Has anyone been keeping tabs on the source of the page? I meant to get a before-and-after on Toki finishing, but didn't grab it in time.
As of ~5 minutes ago, I saw this:
var g_originalEstimate = 140656 + ( Math.round( new Date().getTime() / 1000 ) );
var g_updatedEstimate = 122767 + ( Math.round( new Date().getTime() / 1000 ) );
with a potato count of 416,122
Maybe a minute ago, it had changed to this:
var g_originalEstimate = 140356 + ( Math.round( new Date().getTime() / 1000 ) );
var g_updatedEstimate = 122467 + ( Math.round( new Date().getTime() / 1000 ) );
with the same potatoes.
Nakatomi, we're already more than 50% of the way there.
We're 50% on the release bar sure, but only 6 of 13 games are complete. I'm curious about 7 out of 13 cames complete. Would put us at 50% of the game completing.
That progress bar up top is a lie since, technically, we're past 50% of time to the release date since this whole shindig started. So of course that bar is positive thinking inducing.

Play a lot of indie games, maybe get Portal 2 early.
