as many of you know, i love me some documentaries
this one is unlike any i have seen before. i saw an excerpt of it in an episode of showtime's TV version of This American life
at the age of 38, mark hogancamp had his shit fucked up severely by 5 dudes at a bar. he has to relearn how to live a normal life without the memories of the past, and his treatment is then cut off. what follows is equal parts amazing art and what many could perceive as a crippling retreat from reality

so, i'd endeavor to say this isn't so much about the documentary or a broad thread about the movies so much as it's some shit i slap on your face and you gotta roll it around on the tongue and then brain. ain't this crazy? here's a gallery of some of the photographs he took

i can't say i've really seen anything like it

Because I want to watch this thing.

not sure if Jess would be down with this kind of film
Is Netfux a sub-company owned by Micro$soft?
It's okay, they go back in time in that one
Through the power of friendship
Where is your documentary so that I may learn of this?
What do you guys reccommend (other than this)
Cube 2 and cube zero
Cats don't dance
The l word
Possibly at night if Sarah's up for it.
I picked four completely disparate things from my queue, it seemed funny
Also for some reason the first season of the l word isn't on streaming so it's pointless to start that up if you haven't seen it
Do you like doctor who? The first four seasons of the relaunch and all of torchwood are on streaming. I can't recommend it enough.
How much of an impact were nickelodeon cartoons on your childhood? Basically everything classic from the nineties is streaming right now, and also some newer stuff. Rocko's modern life, aah! real monsters, rugrats, invader zim, danny phantom.
There are a bunch of other good cartoons, too. Phineas and ferb. And a ton of good movies. Have you ever seen auntie mame?
everyone should watch FLCL
I guess I should watch that
I hear real good things about Secret of Kells. I should watch that too.
Unforgivable Blackness is a good boxing documentary on instant if you're in that kind of mood.

GODDAMMIT NO ONE TOLD ME DANNY PHANTOM WAS ON THERE NOW THERE GOES MY ENTIRE WEEKEND SEE YOU GUYS MONDAY
hey satan...: thinkgeek amazon My post |
i recommend it
Do it. You will not be sorry.
Seriously, that movie is a work of art.
It's not my favorite animated film, mind you, and it has its share of flaws, but a LOT of hard work and love was poured into it, and it really shows.
I thought it was cool that they didn't give the thugs who attacked him more than a mention. They didn't even say who their criminal cases went down. I hope they got some real prison time. I also hope that if I ever get massive brain damage and amnesia that the new foolproof turns out cool like Mark Hogancamp.
yes this is true
If you want a documentary to watch that makes you feel better about your station in life watch The Wild and Wondeful Whites, it's also on instant watch.
As are the entirety of the Kids in the Hall, Futurama and Top Gear.

Closer to schadenfreude. It's a documentary about a year in the life of the White family of West Virginia and whoever coined the term white trash was referring to them.
Steam
The movie does look really interesting but sadly if it comes here it's going to cost $20 or more because the two theathers that show odd flims one serves beer the other is in the up scale part of town
