Ah yes the cleavage of Kathleen De Vere, good start as always. And the news? ENN seemed funnier oh well the fact that Paul did that entire bit with egg on his hand is pretty funny.
This seems like it could be good, but I can't stand how it sounds. Pleeeease spend more than $30 on a mic and find someone who knows how to use iiiiittt

The LoadingReadyRun crew do videos semi-professionally. I assure you, they have good quality microphones that cost FAR more than $30, and they know how to use them. I didn't hear any sound issues at all.
I have been looking forward to the return of LRR's game-news segment, and am delighted that it has found its way onto PATV. I was laughing pretty hard at Paul's bit.

Must be your computer, the sound quality seems perfectly excellent for me. Get better speakers then come back, little boy.

I have a PC custom built for music production - that guy is correct, the sound in this show was much weaker than the average PATV thing.
Sidenote; the Season 1 Child's Play part 2 episode of PATV had really weak sound too.
This wasn't too bad, definitely more welcome on PATV than Mega64 was. The jokes were mostly giggle worthy, though the joke about no high profile third party Wii games went on way too long. I wonder if they're going to try to get these out weekly?

My speakers are excellent, if you can't hear the problems then I'm not sure what to say.
If there's any weakness in the sound quality it's due to the video player or processing of the video, it does seem a bit dampened volume-wise but I can't detect any problem with the initial quality itself.
Implying that they're using cheap equipment is just ludicrous.

So is calling someone a "little boy" for having an opinion different than yours. Highest frequencies are muffled in the voices or something (I'm not entirely sure, I've taken a few music tech/recording courses during my music degree, but I'm no music tech major), but there is definitely a problem with the recording. I doubt it's just because of processing. But if you honestly can't tell a difference in quality in this audio recording and the normal PATV stuff then there's really no point in discussing this.
Yeah, but what I think he's getting at is that it's the sound of the entire episode, not just the actors voices - implying it's a master level / video encoding issue, not the production values that are at fault.

Yeah, Josh, you're being really defensive...
I'm not a production major, nor do I have any experience with sound recording/editing equipment or software. But what I DO have are ears.
And whatever the reason behind it, the voices on the video sound noticeably muffled or dampened. In fact, it's made more noticeable by the fact that the music/sound effects in the piece seem to be a lot clearer.

Hehe, just joking around. I guess it did come off as pretty rude, I apologize.

The music being higher quality than the voice quality does seem to indicate that it had to do with the encoding of the video and not with the video player, although it still doesn't have anything to do with the quality of the recording since obviously the music and voice audio are two separate audio components.
On the other hand it's also possible they simply used a different microphone envelope setting than usual.
Many microphones have different settings where one can give the audio quality a closed, muffled sound and another can give it a very open-air sound. Again, nothing to do with the quality of the equipment or recording.

Regardless, the video itself was pretty good. I'll look forward to the next one.
Although I do wish that more "fake news" parody things would take the tack of The Onion and just do it completely serious. It's just my opinion, but I usually find it more funny than doing the schtick-y type stuff like the egg or mugging for the camera.
I'll look into the comments on the audio, because our mic certainly shouldn't be letting us down. Maybe it's due for a replacement? Anyway, I'll take the under advisement.
Glad you all seem to like it!

I have decided to engage my heretofore unused forum account to speak in support of this type video thing. I laughed a number of times and consider it to be of a quality commensurate to that of other Penny Arcade video productions. I was not bothered by the sound.
I guess saying "It sounds fine to me" isn't remotely helpful, so I will concede that the high frequencies sound a bit crushed. Depending on your audio setup, that might result in far too much bass.
There's a slight de-hiss filter on there, and I imagine that's the culprit. I'll take care of that for next time.
Thanks for the feedback, all!
As far as the sound thing goes, I've listened to it on desktop and laptop speakers and I'm getting the same result. I can best describe it as it sounds like it was recorded in a large room with very little in it. There's also very little bass in their voices. Should I woman's voice have bass? I've no idea.

That might be it. It kinda sounded like a mastering issue, like there was a gate that was chopping off the high frequencies. A hiss filter could do that
That was pretty amusing. The voices sounded really awful though. I have a very nice set of speakers and some experience in the field of sound engineering, but I honestly couldn't tell if it was your de-hiss or the acoustics of the place you recorded it in. Could be a combination of both even.

I think I liked it. I guess they're going for a Daily Show type vibe? Get a few drinks in to calm those nerves.
