I have half a mind to LP a magic user playthrough, to catch the magic solutions to all the puzzles and fill the gaps in time so the thread interest doesn't wane.
I'm sure Josh wouldn't mind less work on his end, and it would fill in some gaps, since he's still busy dealing with house and stuff. I simply can't do an update more than every couple of days.
I'll do it if I can find a way to keep it funny and unique while still touching on the magic solutions to everything...maybe I'll play it as a cocksure magic user that has a penchant for dying in every way possible (it's surprising how many ways it's possible for someone to kill you for, say, firing an errant flame dart).
EDIT: Specifically, sometime tonight. I have all the images uploaded, and I've started typing up the update, but we're heading out for a bit to meet someone for dinner.
As a 6'0", 145 lbs. man, I hope you'll appreciate how important it is that I not skip a meal.
Okay, now for what really happens 99% of the time.
Bring back the Rick Astley guy, please.
Out into the desert night air to see if we can hunt down some new monsters.
Jackalmen!
You assholes remind me of these goblins I used to know in Spielburg.
In fact, the resemblance is uncanny.
The fight with the Jackalmen was exhausting but profitable. We took home about 15 dinars from one fight.
Look man, I don't give a rat's fat ass about strange fires until I get my damn morning coffee.
Well it's a good thing I don't give a shit about them, then, isn't it? Oh good, coffee. Begone.
Ha! Haha! Oh, I'm not laughing because you're funny. I'm laughing because today is the last day I have to be harangued by you as soon as I set foot outside my inn. See you, cock-felcher!
Clever girl.
It's been a couple of days since I've stolen anything. I wonder if Dinarzad has something for me.
Hm. How shall I put this?
There is a Weapon Shop in this city which has a trapdoor beneath its anvil. If you can but move the anvil and open the trapdoor, you shall be richly rewarded. I shall also be rewarded, knowing that I have contributed to the fall of the Weaponer's house.
Yeah, that guy definitely sticks male genitalia in all the wrong places. I'll go see his shop tonight fo sho.
Killing time. Practicing throwing rocks out where the Griffon used to be.
Status update...
Quiet as a shadow
Placid as a dead Jackalman
I am... He Who Goes Unseen.
What? I'm totally not suspicious. Just chilling out here. Is it a crime to be standing hunched over by myself outside a successful and totally loaded store at night? ...Actually, that sounds like it ought to be against the law.
Yoo hoo, anybody home?
I'll just shut this door here so those guards wandering around outside won't know I'm plying my trade in here.
Okay, so technically the Thief is supposed to pour some oil underneath the anvil. I didn't bother. Hamburglar is plenty strong enough to move the giant thing all by himself, without cheating. And even though you (probably) get points for using the oil, I wouldn't want to leave any trace evidence at the crime scene. Roleplaying, motherfuckers.
Score.
Oh come on. When has that ever been an obstacle for me? I mean, I got in the door, didn't I?
Oh yeah. This makes up for every expensive dagger I had to buy from the dude. Now to cover my tracks.
You can't steal any weapons from Issur's shop. They are too well-known in town to fence, and he unfortunately doesn't leave any daggers out that we could use. Such is life.
It was very selfish of Issur to sit on all this cash. It should have been flowing back into the market, helping the economy. That should teach him a valuable lesson.
And then goes and takes some aggression out on a poor defenseless Dino.
COME AT ME!
Didn't you hear me before the sword swing, I said come at me! FIGHT ME!!!
Points: 3 (142) - Kill a Dinolizardthing.
*shakes his head* No challenge at all. At least being out in this sun sure saps your energy.
Shoulda bought a dagger so I could skin it. Get some new boots that way at least.
You do that, Abdulla. You do that.
Mmmm, stuffed Saurus, someone else was taking out aggression too. Wait, did you say stuffed with rabbit too? Am I eating the Shapeir version of a Turducken?
Back out at night....
And the next day...
He's gone! Alichica is GONE!
Uh huh.
You sure? I got a couple moooreeee!
WHAT? First you won't take more scorpion tails, now no more ghoul claws? Who are you going to find you more when I leave town? Huh? Huh?
Another obscure message...hrmmmmm...maybe I'll encounter that brigand again, I still have some aggression to work out and I can't exactly go beating up harmless or innocents.
Well Dinar hits the fountain here, and...
...he shows up, I drop him, he runs. Getting repetitive.
Mah booties are done!
Was all in a hero's day work!
Oh heck I'm still carrying around that ghoul's head. I bet I know who would LOVE it.
My stats. Bow to them. BOW.
Um, thank you, but....
I'll be back a bit later. I think I need to work that off. That. Taste.
Mah booties are awesome!
Always glad to help poor sir. Though with how insanely nice the Kattas are, I'm surprised you aren't living the high life by now.
Points: 3 (145) - Get the reward for killing Fire Elemental.
FYI, I can get more than this in one day of hunting brigands and jackelmen, but as a hero, I will offer you my thanks, please convey my appreciate that my deed was noticed to the Sultan. Yeah. That's a good speech.
What's that banner over there anyways?
Whatever. I'm pretty certain I could whip anyone in that group or order or whatever.
Grooooovy, it's the poetry dude. Lay some lines on me my friend.
Awesome, who is this mysterious man who always accompanies you, by the way?
Ah...um, by the way did you hear about my battle against the Fire Elemental? I have it here now, in this *grumblemumble* lamp...
O.o I...already knew this? Well anyways you are entertaining the masses, so please, have some of my cash, it's the least I can do.
Yep, that's it. This city is just too nice. No wonder they talk about Paladins all over the place.
Later that day....
Omar's gone, but what...hrm did he drop this?
Yeaaahhh, sounds like him. I better return this to him intact, no point in taking his money when I have so much of my own! Whenever I see him next...hrm. If you DO take the money out of the purse, you cannot become a paladin, ever. Which means that I'm sure Hamburglar will steal the poor poet blind.
CRAP, a few last bits of post got eaten in emailing the post to myself somehow, or I used a wrong version or whatever. Will be fixed shortly.
EditEdit: OK apparently massively screwed up the pictures, will fix the end of the post but will have to wait till I get home. (The only thing that's missing is me picking up Omar's money purse really).
You know, I was reading a couple of earlier posts in the thread just now, and....well, did anyone see the episode of Who's Line is it Anyways that had Richard Simmons in it? No? Go watch it. Then look at this picture again.
Well, I was gonna upload another set but my wife locked the deadbolt before leaving. I am typing this up on my iPad from outside the house on my wifi, waiting for my wife to get back and pen the garage door.
The second game was monstrously huge back in the day. The third game is tiny in scope by comparison, although it's not a huge surprise, seeing as how it was never planned for the original quadrilogy of games.
I'm both looking forward to and dreading QFG3. On the one hand, it's relatively short. There is very little to do, aside from training your skills. Almost all preparation for the endgame can be done in the first few days. On the other hand, god, it sucks compared to the other games. Especially as a Thief. There is just nothing to do or steal.
Josh is spot on with his assessment. Don't get me wrong though, I still like the game quite a bit. It just seems like although there's a LOT of story, just not a lot to do.
I still stand by my suggestion of playing through game 3 as a magic user, rather than a thief.
Parry? Stealth? Lock-picking? Throwing? Climbing? These are not the tools of a self-respecting mage! Luck, on the other hand, is the tool of the self-respecting mage, at least early on.
+1: Create a character (1/500)
See, the luck is paying off immediately!
Now, to take a quick look at my long term goals:
To-Do: - Be a Hero
OK, let's get cracking!
This seems like a quiet little town. On the perch ahead of you are two people. The standing one is large, rather ugly, and playing with a yo-yo. The seated person sucking a pipe looks like he might be a sheriff.
The man with the pipe greets you.
Welcome to our town. You are lucky to have made it down from the mountains before the snow blocked the pass again. It's gotten pretty dangerous outside of town, I understand.
Many monsters have been trapped around here with the late snow. Between them and the brigands, we certainly could use a Hero around here.
I am Sheriff Schultz Meistersson. This is Otto Von Goon, my assistant.
Good luck in your quest.
Luck, you say? I majored in luck. Besides, this looks like a sorry little village. I finally get a chance to unleash my awesome magical ability. And I say ability, singular, because I only have one. However, I am going to Zap the fuck out of you.
You win this round, village...at least I came prepared for adversity, with 4 gold, 10 silver, 5 rations, and a leather jerkin and dagger for those dump villages that are prejudiced against mages.
So then, Mustache von Mustacheson, you were saying something about needing a hero?
You'll need to talk to the Baron about that. Or go ask Wolfgang down at the Guild Hall, which is just down the street.
So maybe you're going to be a hero? Well, we could surely use one around here, what with all the brigands.
+1 Talk to sheriff (2/500)
This hero business is easy!
Well, since this village hates magic, I should at least work on some cardio to up my stamina from practically nothing...
To the Guild Hall!
*pant* *wheeze* Ok, enough running for a while. Besides, that magic shop looks interesting. Maybe I can increase my magical arsenal in there!
Ahh, now this is the kind of shop that has everything a growing wizard needs...except a shop owner. Hello? Anyone home? Mr. gargoyle, you in charge here?
Oh no! It knows my weakness...bad puns!
So, I guess I just walk up to the counter and take the spells I need, then?
I am Zara, and my companion is Damiano. The items in this shop are designed for those skilled in the use of magic.
Looks like it's your lucky day then, Zara, as I am skilled in the use of magic. How might I, then, become even more skilled in the use of magic?
If you have the skill of Magic, you can learn the way to cast spells by reading magical scrolls.
Without the skill, you have no Power. The more you practice spell casting, the greater you shall become.
So what I really need is more power, then.
Power is the essence of Magic, that which the Wizard shapes and is shaped by.
So you're saying I can just call myself a Wizard?
A Wizard is one who both shapes Magic and is shaped by it. Erasmus and I are the only Wizards in this valley.
So then who do I have to kill what do I have to do to become a wizard?
When you have mastered nine spells, have the Power to cast all, and proven yourself worthy by accomplishing a great deed, then you must undergo initiation to become a full Wizard.
There is a place in the distant south where you must journey, but first you must become a hero here.
Time to update the long-term goals.
To-Do: - Learn Nine Eight More Spells
- Go South
- Become a Wizard
- Be a Hero
Distant south is starting to sound much more interesting. Where do I go once I find some sucker helpful person to get me there?
There are many entrances to the Halls of Magical Mastery in the south.
After you have gained skill and a good reputation in Magic, you should journey south.
If you are indeed worthy of being a Wizard, you will find a way to those Halls.
Let me show you how good my reputation is...*bow chicka wow wow*
So...Erasmus, you say?
Erasmus is a Wizard and a Spellcaster who knows much about this area. He lives in a tower northeast of town at the top of a steep mountain called Zauerberg.
He can be very helpful if approached properly, but he has a strange sense of humor.
Right, mountain, northeast, weird. I'll have to find him later. While I'm thinking of it, why can't I cast spells in town?
There is an Aura protecting this town from danger. Within most of its walls, there can be no act of violence or cruel magic. Even so, it is prudent to avoid dark places.
I bet I can name one dark place every man has avoided around here lately...I mean, what's an aura?
An Aura is a Spell of protection surrounding something. The town is still protected by the Aura cast by the great spellcaster Erana.
Hold on, Erana? You said there were only two Wizards in the valley.
Erana was a powerful Spellcaster who lived long ago. She brought peace to this valley. Even now her spell protects this town from violence or foul magic.
To the north of the town, surrounded by the mountains, is an Alpine valley that is rumored to be the final resting place for Erana, although no one is certain what happened to her. It is known as Erana's Peace.
It is certainly a magical place of safety. There is also supposed to be a gift there for Magic Users who are clever enough to find it.
Safety and a gift, you say? I have got to remember that place. Anywhere else in the valley I should make a note of while you're giving us the plot points of at least one game and likely several?
There is much power in this valley, and it attracts those who use magic.
*points to self*
I am here, Erasmus has his house on Zauerberg, and even Baba Yaga has her hut cooped up somewhere around here.
Baba Yaga now? Anyone else you forgot to mention when listing off wizards? We're now up to number 4 of the 2 wizards you mentioned lived here.
She is a powerful and wicked hag. You would be wise to avoid her. She cursed the Baron von Spielburg when he tried to drive her away.
Avoid her, you say. Few too many facial STDs, you imply. Curse, you mentioned?
This is Baba Yaga's curse, cast upon the Baron years ago:
Upon von Spielburg and all his clan, this is the curse I now demand: What I Will shall come full measure, so shall ye lose all that ye treasure.
There is always a way to break a curse; possibly Erasmus knows more about this.
Erasmus makes a point of studying the effects of Magic upon mortals. There is little about Magic in this area that Erasmus does not know.
So you're saying you don't have a clue about that, then. So where is this hut of hers, then, so I might exploreburn avoid it?
To-Do: - Avoid Find Baba Yaga
- Talk to Erasmus
- Learn Nine Eight More Spells
- Be a Hero
- Find a way to go South
- Become a Wizard
Baba Yaga's hut is magical. It stands on chicken legs, and you must know the rhyme to enter.
I have no interest in entering Baba Yaga's hut and therefore do not know the rhyme.
Strike 2 on Zara's helpful knowledge check, then. Let's go to an easy one to get back on track. What is it you sell here?
What I sell here are merely tools to help those who have power.
You may purchase restorative potions and scrolls from which you may learn spells, if you have the potential.
Oh, I've got more than potential, babe. How much for those scrolls?
We sell several Magical Spells on study scrols. You may purchase Fire Dart for 60 silver, Fetch for 40 silver, or the Open Spell for 30 silver.
And now we've officially left my price range.
I also know you can find a spell if you learn the secret of Erana's Peace.
And we're back in range! And we possibly have something feasibly small in the to-do list!
To-Do: - Learn the secret of Erana's Peace to find a spell
- Find Baba Yaga
- Talk to Erasmus
- Learn Eight More Spells
- Be a Hero
- Find a way to go South
- Become a Wizard
So, can you at least clue me in as to what all these spells do?
Zap is the Spell that lets you place magical energy upon a weapon. The energy will be released as magical damage when you hit your enemy.
Wait, THAT'S what Zap does? I still have to actually use my hands to hit them with a weapon? That's such a baby spell. I'm so totally boned.
Open is a spell that allows you at first to unfasten simple locks and knots. As you gain in skill, you can even open doors with it.
At high levels, can I open people's skulls with it? Because that sounds way cooler than Zap already.
The Fetch Spell allows you to lift or lower a lightweight object from a distance.
Do goblins count as lightweight objects? No? Still waiting for something useful for actually removing heads from bodies, here.
Fire Dart is the spell that lets you cast a magical flame upon your enemy.
Now we're talking! I'm going to save up for that! So...is there anything I can actually get from this long-ass conversation?
+1 Talk to Zara (3/500)
Woo-hoo! Although, if I had my choice, that was totally a 10-point conversation.
Anyhow, seeing as what you sell far exceeds what I'm willing and/or able to spend at this point, I'd better go check out that Guild Hall to see if I can get money flowing the other way.
This Adventurer's Guild Hall reminds you of the one in your home town. The traditional Moose head and other stuffed monsters (Saurus, Troll, Gryphon, Dragon, CHeetaur, and the terrible Antwerp) adorn the walls.
You see a registration book on the table, and the bulletin board full of job listings. The man seated near the window must be the Guild Master. He is snoring.
You, over there! You must be that Wolfgang that Sheriff Mustache was talking about, right?
The guildmaster appears to be hard of hearing. Perhaps you should get closer.
Ahh, finally someone I can take without any spells! *Runs up and jacks Wolfgang in the face as hard as he can*
Ach! I was so busy I didn't notice you come in. Welcome, welcome! It is so seldom that we have new adventurers here. Most people think this valley is cursed!
It was just yesterday that I drew my sword and started out...Or was that the day before? No, then last week...Why, What was I talking about?
Actually, it turns out my fingers would have just the stirring dissertation that the situation here calls for, except the village somehow won't let me use it here...but anyway, you said something about a curse?
Ja, with the Baron losing his son and daughter, Baba Yaga, all the monsters, and now the brigands, it has just been one thing after another.
+1 Talk to Wolfgang (4/500)
At least that wasn't completely pointless. I'll just go check out that logbook and the bulletin board over there to see where the real money is, then.
*Reads last entry in logbook, about the Baronet killing a troll near the Flying Falls*
Borrrring. Time to put something relevant in this book!
+4 Read Logbook
+1 Sign Logbook (9/500)
Hot damn! I had to actually read a book there, but whatever was in there must be totally worth it! Now for this bulletin board...

+6 Read Quest Board (15/500)
Let that be a lesson, kids. Reading pays off! Now to pare this board down to the bare necessities...
To-Do: - Talk to Healer.
- Talk to Spielburg Castle gates.
- Learn the secret of Erana's Peace to find a spell
- Find Baba Yaga
- Talk to Erasmus
- Learn Eight More Spells
- Be a Hero
- Find a way to go South
- Become a Wizard
All this hero business is hard work! I mean, so far, it's been existing, talking, and reading! I think I saw some shops just north of the sheriff's office. Maybe one of them sells something for almost nothing, which is right in my price range!
Good day, and welcome to Spielburg. Would you like to buy some of my nice fresh fruits or vegetables?
My nose says you have apples. Are you selling apples?
There are still some apples left from last season in the barrel. You may buy 10 for a silver, since they are so small.
+1 Talk to apple lady, who I'm sure has a very nice name (16/500)
Now that is in my price range! Well, since this village hates magic and Zara hates actually making sales, perhaps I'll just attempt to advance my abilities using...let's see...50 of these apples in exchange for 5 silver.
To-Do: - Unleash the awesome power of apples
- Talk to Healer.
- Talk to Spielburg Castle gates.
- Learn the secret of Erana's Peace to find a spell
- Find Baba Yaga
- Talk to Erasmus
- Be a Hero
- Learn Eight More Spells
- Find a way to go South
- Become a Wizard
I thought that just talking to the villagers and grabbing the important backstory would be pretty quick, but then I forgot exactly how much Zara has to say about magic and wizards and the entire magic user plot for the next 2-3 games. So it escalated in a hurry.

Is there a difference in the story in 3-5 between the fighter and paladin? If so I'd be willing to fill the hole of whichever isn't being done.
Whoa dude, Piotyr, that is a great first post. I like the style. We all three have a different style. I think great things will be happening for all of us involved.
Yeah, there's really no reason to play a fighter when you have a paladin. There are a few -minor- plot differences, sometimes where you get points are different, and yanno from what I remember, there is actually MORe plot for the paladin, and less for the fighter, since there's paladin specific quests in (especially) 4.
And yes, I intend to become a Paladin (if it isn't blatently obvious from my posts.)
They each have their own personality too don't they...I like referring to Josh's thief as "inglorious bastard" but I haven't found a good quip for mine yet, and we need to see how Piotyr's mage keeps going, (though that first post was long enough I think he established himself.)
What I generally do is use a text editor of choice (something simple like notepad) and do all the typing in and editing and what not. I then just do ctrl-a ctrl-c, then move to the forum editing window and go ctrl-a ctrl-v. That way I can constantly save my changes, and it's easy enough to preview them when I need.
The breeze is cool, but you feel a shiver deeper than just the cold. You are really on your own now in a very dangerous place.
A very dangerous place that finally lets me unleash the fury! Gaze at my awesome magical powers!
Open:5 Zap:10
Which means it's currently unlikely that I can even open a flower at that skill level, but I can give a bit of a charge to someone that voluntarily hurls themselves into my dagger.
I cast Zap!
Your weapon is now magically charged.
Aww yeah, now I'm far more intimidating! Now, what's around the area?
The road from town branches here. The north fork leads past the healer's hut to the Baron's castle. You remember having entered the valley along the eastern road, just before a storm closed the pass.
Wait a second...healer's hut...Baron's castle...
To-Do:
- Talk to Healer.
- Talk to Spielburg Castle gates.
- Learn the secret of Erana's Peace to find a spell
- Unleash the awesome power of apples
- Find Baba Yaga
- Talk to Erasmus
- Be a Hero
- Learn Seven More Spells
- Find a way to go South
- Become a Wizard
To the north!
The bright smell of fresh herbs mingles with the aroma of wood smoke as you come up to a hut by the side of the road.
So what's going on here?
The tree is a large oak. There is a nest on the limb that stretches toward the hut. The creature looks more like a small flying lizard than a bird.
Not to mention annoying as all hell with the incessant tweeting. But what's that I see in the nest? A sparkle? That could be money, and I desperately need money more than a flying lizard!
Maybe I can open up that nest, or even the bird's skull! *casts Open*
The spell has no effect.
Damn, not even a little movement on that hut door. Ok, what else is around that I can use to jar that sparkly loose? Hmm, there are some rocks on the ground...
You pick up a few rocks.
Now, I've heard rumors from afar that some people can perform a feat of skill called "throwing", which makes the use of small objects like rocks to hit other objects from a distance. I can bend physics, so I can totally pull off this throwing business.
(Yes, he hit himself with the rock.)
Fuuuuuck! Enough of that! That marks the last time I try to solve any puzzle beneath my magical capabilities. And to think my other idea was to actually try to climb that tree! Now to carefully drop the rest of these rocks and avoid breaking a foot in the process...
Well, nothing I can do to that bird for now, and my open spell practically made that door chuckle, so maybe I can just knock politely...
You politely knock on the door.
After a moment, you hear the inside bolt slide open.
A voice from inside says "Come on in."
The fragrances of herbs mingle with some rather unpleasant odors as you step into the healer's house.
Lovely day, isn't it? My, you look very healthy for an adventurer. You must be new.
Holy shit! My, you look very scary for a healer. You must be a nightmare.
What can I do for you? I can sell you healing potions if you like.
I also buy spell components if you are interested in gathering some for me. Don't mind me, I always have so much to do around here.
It certainly doesn't look like you have facial reconstructive potions, so I won't bother asking.
However, I read on the adventure board that you were offering money for things? You lose a ring or something?
My ring is shaped in gold like a braid of the herb Athelas with entwined leaves. I don't know how I lost it, I hardly ever take it off.
I will give six golds to the person who returns my ring. It was a gift when I graduated from the College of Healing.
Six golds is worth one of Zara's spells! I'm on the case!
Ok, now let's think for a minute...always have the ring on, rarely take it off. Annoying bird is always around and in the hut, and it has something sparkly in its nest...
Wait, I got it! The bird took the ring, pawned it, and is keeping the cash in its nest!...
Wait, I have a simpler idea, and I am not telling you, because you might find it yourself and not give me the precious reward money.
What else do you give money for?
I always need ingredients for making potions. Right now, I need some of Erana's Flowers, Magic Mushrooms, Troll Beard, and, let me think... Oh, yes, Cheetaur Claws.
I am going to assume I can just find all of that laying around the valley, free to pick up and trade for cash.
Just out of curiousity, since I'm out of cash, what potions do you sell?
I make and sell Healing Potions, Power Potion, Vigor Potion, and Undead Unguent.
Ooh, and a a better price than that gouger Zara. Of course, you probably have to give a bargain to make people willing to come out here and subject themselves to your cold, piercing eyes.
Undead Unguent is new, though, what's that do?
Undead Unguent is used to drive off minor undead such as zombies or floating spirits. It doesn't last long, so you should use it near where you are going to encounter such things.
Good to know. Have I talked at you enough yet?
+2 Talk to Healer (29/500)
Looks like it. I'm out. I think I heard someone raking nearby, and I'm going to see if he can help me with a fruity task...that came out wrong.
Oh, by the way, if you happen to find a ring on your adventures, I lost my favorite gold ring. I will give a reward to the one who returns it.
Just spitballing here, but you may want to look into a memory potion. Now to update the to-do list:
To-Do: - Talk to Healer. - Get healer's ring without killing myself throwing or climbing.
- Find flowers, mushrooms, beards and claws to sell to healer for something practical (cash).
The centaur stops raking as you approach.
Finally, someone properly intimidated by me. Good sir, I couldn't help but notice your raking, and wondered if you knew how to unleash the secret power of apples.
I am Heinrich Pferdefedern. I live in town with my daughter Hilde who sells our produce on Market Street.
+1 Talk to Heinrich (30/500)
So she did have a name. Well met, Mr. Ferdy Ferdy, source of the apples.
I notice you're actually a bit gimpy, what gives?
The brigands attacked me a few months ago. I am a strong fighter and my hooves are deadly, but there were too many of them.
My right leg was broken, and there is no pride for a Centaur who cannot run. If it had not been for the unlikely intervention of their leader, I would be dead.
The brigand leader? Why, charmed by your fantastic smile?
The leader came up after the brigands attacked me and forced them to stop, ordering them not to hurt people from the town.
Then, to my amazement, the leader gave me a healing potion and had me carried to the Healer's house.
It was hard to judge the leader, whose face was obscured by a large helm, but there was compassion unlike what one expects from a brigand.
+3 Ask about the brigand leader (33/500)
It would seem this brigand leader is a central figure in this entire adventure. I should go ask the castle gate for more details.
Farewell, Mr. Ferdy Ferdy. I won't kill you now, but just to be safe you should stop raking every time I come through here out of respect and possibly fear of my awesome power.
Well met, gate. I want to know how to get money from you.
My name is Karl.
This is the castle of Baron Stefan von Spielburg.
Karl, you smug bastard, you look nothing like a gate. Anyway, same question.
The stablekeeper could use a strong young person to help clean out the stables.
It does not pay much, but it is good, honest work.
If you would like to take the job, come on in.
In the absence of strength, would luck suffice? I have luck in spades.
Besides, what about all the postings on the adventure board?
There is still a reward offered for the safe return of the Baronet and Elsa von Spielburg of 50 gold.
For the capture or death of the Brigand Warlock, there is the reward of 50 gold.
For the capture or death of the Brigand leader there is the reward of 50 gold and the title of 'Hero of Spielburg'.
About that last thing, Mr. Ferdy Ferdy the apple raker mentioned the leader was compassionate and spared him. What do you know about the leader and his warlock?
The leader of the brigands must be a good strategies.
He has organized and lead many raids which result in much treasure and little loss on the part of the brigands. Without their leader, the brigands would soon flee.
Not much is known about the warlock, but he seems to use more magic potions and powders than spells.
Many merchants have been robbed by the brigands. There is a merchant in town who could tell you about his robbery.
I'll have to see if I can find that merchant and see what his reward offer is...
Ok, what about the other problems?
Ten years ago the Baron's daughter Elsa was stolen away by magic. Five years back, the Baronet Barnard von Spielburg went on a hunt from which he did not return. This was all clearly part of Baba Yaga's curse.
The curse again?
The Baron ordered Baba Yaga to leave and she first cursed the graveyard. When he then sent the Baronial Guards after her, only their Captain returned to the castle.
The Captain spoke the words, "Hear me, oh mighty Baron. Thou hast angered me, and thus you are cursed. All that you value shall you lose; all that you treasure shall be taken from you," in a strange voice.
The captain then dissolved into a pool of sticky blackness.
I am not even going to ask how you knew the blackness was sticky, and simply assume it was due to a fit of loneliness one night at the gate.
What do you mean Baba Yaga cursed the graveyard first?
Baba Yaga cursed the graveyard such that the dead can not rest at night. One can not go near the graveyard after dark without risking his own death unless one uses protection.
There is an unguent you can purchase from the Healer which protects against the dead that walk by night.
Maybe if you had used protection you wouldn't have gotten all sticky...still, that bit about the unguent will not be forgotten!
So, can you tell me anything else about Elsa?
Elsa von Spielburg was a lovely young child with braided blond hair and bright blue eyes like her mother the Baroness used to have.
A large winged creature flew over the castle walls, grabbed Elsa, and vanished before the guards could fire upon it. We searched everywhere for her, but to no avail.
Even the jester Yorick joined the search for her.
The Baron sent a troop of guards to storm Baba Yaga's hut, but I think their skulls sit atop her fence. Elsa von Spielburg would be about eighteen now.
Alas, poor Yorick, I don't know him at all. Who's Yorick?
He was a very jolly fool who loved to laugh. He was devoted to Elsa and swore he would not return until Elsa was safe.
That Brigand Warlock sounds like Yorick's evil twin or something...
What about that clarinet Baronet guy? All I know is from reading in the logbook that he killed a troll near Flying Falls a few years back.
The Baronet Barnard von Spielburg was a proud young man and had the dark hair and eyes of his father the Baron.
He rode off one morning and his horse returned without him. The horse had been raked by the claws of some large animal.
There is still a reward offered for the safe return of the Baronet, but I fear he is dead.
Almost sounds like a bear got him in revenge for the troll...or maybe it was a ferocious troll bear!
This to-do list is getting pretty hefty, though...
To-Do: - Talk to Spielburg Castle gates named Karl. - Look for a stable job.
- Find Elsa
- Find Baronet
- KillMaim Capture Brigand Leader and Warlock
+5 Talk to Karl (38/500)
Easily my most impressive conversation yet! Now Karl, stand back while I open this gate with my awesome magically prowess!
Just a minute while I raise the gate.
Karl, you ignorant slut. I'm still walking in with dignity.
+1 Enter castle grounds (39/500)
Now that guy looks like he's compensating for something.
If you are addressing me, sir, you must respect me enough to address me to my face!
Not so much, but I'll humor you for now.
Now get your cock sword out of my face and explain what you are.
I am the Weapon Master, expert swordsman and trainer.
The skills of the Sword are Thrust, Swing, Parry, and Dodge. Timing of such actions is critical to the success of the fighter.
The skills of the Magic User are Spells, Power and Luck. Fortunately for you I have but one, or else I'd melt your sword where it stands.
In fact, why don't you have a seat over here for a minute...what do you know about Elsa?
A bright child, for a girl. She used to watch me practice daily, and question me constantly. Pity she was not born a boy.
She would have made a talented swordsman...if I had trained her. I could not demean myself to teach a mere girl, of course.
That's the kind of attitude that makes me want to run off and join the brigands, just so I could lead them here against you, personally.
In fact, would you be interested in feeling how sharp the end of my dagger is?
Unhand me, you lout, or I shall have you thrown into the dungeons. I allow only those who pay for the privilege to measure their fighting skill against mine.
You asked for it, now I'm going to open your face! *casts Open*
The spell has no effect.
Give me one reason I shouldn't come back here later and turn you to dust.
+1 Talk to weapon master (40/500)
That'll do...for now. I'm going to head to the barracks and see if the guards are more friendly. It's a low bar.
You there, guard! Do you know anything useful?
"I'm not here to answer your stupid questions. Go talk to Karl the gatekeeper. He talks to anyone about almost anything."
On second thought, would you be interested in feeling how sharp my dagger is?
That's a no, then. Note to self, learn tact.
Think I'll try to go talk to the Baron personally, then.
I'd like to talk to the Baron, please.
"No one enters the castle without the Baron's permission."
Can I go in and ask him for permission? You may not recognize me, but I am an aspiring Hero and able Magic User.
"The Baron sees no one."
I believe I have an Open spell that suggests otherwise, baldy. *casts Open*
The doors are securely locked and barred from the inside.
"Don't get me mad."
Or else what, you'll call the guards and kill me easily? Point taken, good sir. I'll be going to ask about that stable job now, then.
Good afternoon, my good man. I hear you were in the market for giving me money.
"You lookin' for some work?"
If by work you mean cash, then sure, I'll stand around with a rake for a bit in exchange for cash.
"Good! Come in here and take a rake."
Done and done!
"I DON'T PAY YOU TO REST! GET TO WORK! NOW!!!"
Technically, you haven't paid me at all, yet. However, being killed by guards is so totally 3 hours ago, so fine, I'll work hard
*2 minutes later* You are so exhausted that everything you do hurts. Better get some rest.
Getting...late...job...sucks...need...cash...
"OK. C'mon over here."
The stableman hands you some coins and says, "Now you're five silvers richer."
+5 Work at stables (45/500)
Since I'm unable to move my legs, I'll practice Open for a while to keep my eyes open, and then see if I can crash here for the night without being killed.
At least I knocked something off my bucket list.
To-Do: - Look for a stable job. - Quit stable job
And I'm spent.
Points tally (starting from 27):
+2 Talk to Healer
+1 Talk to Heinrich
+3 Ask Heinrich about brigand leader
+5 Talk to Karl
+1 Enter castle grounds
+1 Talk to weapon master
+5 Work at stables
Total: 45 points of 500
I'm liking your posts. I also think you're hitting up some backstory that neither josh nor I got close to. (at least crap like why we had to use the unguent).
Also, please don't tell me you're actually going to try to skill up all your magic, that would be a horrible waste of time.

Nah, just the spells that fail a lot, like Open and Fetch (because *spoiler* it took me 6 tries to open the fox's trap).
I'm trying to remember if there was some backstory to the Baronet's situation aside from the clues about hunting trolls and the horse coming back with claw marks. Maybe 'Enry or Erasmus has something to say about it, since I'm going there next.
Magic User 3 - ...and Jim Walks the Walk (FINALLY)!
Quick magic check...
Open: 15 Zap: 13
"WHAT DO YOU THINK THIS IS, A REST HOME??? GET TO WORK! NOW!!!
Ugh, screw this castle, I think I'm actually rooting for the brigands now. Soon as I can, I'm out of this dump!
"OK. C'mon over here."
The stableman hands you some coins and says "Now you're five silvers richer."
That's it, I quit!
To-Do: - Quit stable job - Find a way to go South (or back East)
- Find flowers, mushrooms, beards and claws to sell to healer for something practical (cash).
- Learn the secret of Erana's Peace to find a spell
- Unleash the awesome power of apples
- Get healer's ring without killing myself throwing or climbing.
- Find Baba Yaga
- Talk to Erasmus
- Find Baronet (likely killed by troll bear)
- Find Elsa (18 year old blonde...added incentive!)
- Capture Brigand Leader and Warlock
- Be a Hero
- Learn Seven More Spells
- Become a Wizard
I think I'm going back east to adventurer's school and see if they can score me some better spells for less work.
It appears that a recent avalanche has sealed off the road leading out of the valley.
Oh. Right. Avalanche. Well, time for this Open spell to show its stuff! *casts Open*
Your spell has no effect.
Well, just fuck me right in the ass, then. Oh well, maybe I can just wander around a bit and see if there's something near death I can finish off for points, food, and/or money.
Aww, yeah. Luck pays off again! Prepare to be Zapped, fox!
Holy shit! A simple one button trap! My open spell can totally handle this! *casts Open*
Hmmmmm. Perhaps it needed a stronger spell.
My food is caught in this cruel trap and I am in great pain. Surely you could take a minute and set me free.
ZIP IT! I GOT THIS!
And don't call me Shirley. *casts Open*
+10 Release fox from trap (55/500)
Aww hells yeah! I HAVE THE POWER!!!
In exchange for your kindness, I will give you some advice and a bit of information. First of all, it sometimes pays off to be polite, even to rude people.
Or else they call their friends and kill you, I've been learning that one the hard way. For you, though, adorable fox, I will make extra effort not to piss off people that can kill me. And maybe I'll even see about saving the Baronet and Elsa before I try to leave.
As for the amusing tidbit -- Baba Yaga put an enchantment on the Baron's Daughter some years back. To break the spell you need to talk to the Dryad. Au Revoir, Ta-ta for now. Be seeing you.
Sayonara, Auf wiedersehen, Aloha.
An enchantment spell, though, eh? Time to rearrange the priorities.
To-Do: - Track down a dryad to help with Elsa
- Find and disenchant Elsa
- Find flowers, mushrooms, beards and claws to sell to healer for something practical (cash).
- Learn the secret of Erana's Peace to find a spell
- Unleash the awesome power of apples
- Get healer's ring without killing myself throwing or climbing.
- Find Baba Yaga
- Talk to Erasmus
- Find Baronet (likely killed by troll bear)
- Capture Brigand Leader and Warlock
- Be a Hero

- Learn Seven More Spells
- Become a Wizard
And off to find me some dryad!
Mr. Ferdy Ferdy! You remembered! Good boy!
Given my knowledge of dryads, they are said to be people living within trees...
Hi, Mr. Bush. Are you the dryad my friend fox mentioned?
The Goblin has a mean look in its eyes. You prepare for battle.
Wait! Goblin? Battle? *gulp*
I mean...you want some? COME GET SOME!
Battle strategy... Step 1: cast Zap...
Step 2: Make contact with goblin...
Step 3: Profit!
Wow! You threw that dead goblin a long way!
You find 5 silvers concealed in a pouch. You take the silvers.
Jim: 1. Goblin: 0! That's what you get for pretending to be a dryad! (SO glad there was just one of them.)
The search for the dryad continues...
Hold on, now, what's this?
The trees look more vibrant than most of the forest. There is a ring of mushrooms in the center of the clearing.
Ooh, the healer wanted magic mushrooms! But...are those magic? Only one way to find out!
+3 Get magic mushrooms (58/500)
OK, they're real mushrooms. Now to see if they're really magical...
Your senses gradually return to normal.
Hmm, that was interesting. But it would probably not be a good idea to repeat the experience.
Maybe if I were a normal person, I'd agree. But I'm magical, and these are definitely magical, so one more couldn't hurt...
Well that wasn't very magical. Fine, I'll save them for the healer instead.
Time to resume the dryad search...
Ooh, I can think of tons of uses for a white stag. A mount, a familiar, dinner for weeks, the possibilities are endless. Here, horsey horsey...
You seem to have startled the white stag.
The game is afoot!
You follow the stag into this forest corner. You feel as though the eyes of the forest are watching you. You watch the stag, fascinated with his grace and beauty. There is something special about this place.
Now to slowly creep up behind it and jump it while its back is turned...
Did I say slowly creep behind it and jump it? I totally meant feed it berries and pet it gently if it mutually consents.
So I'm aiding you before you aid me...why? Oh right, I don't have Fire Dart yet, that's why.
Bring me a seed from the Spore Spitting Spirea of the North, that I may plant it elsewhere in order to preserve these rare and magical plants.
+1 Tell dryad you are one with the woods (59/500)
As usual, one step forward, one step backward...still, points for not being argumentative. That fox must be on to something with this polite schtick!
To-Do: - Track down a dryad to help with Elsa - Get a seed from the spitting plants for the dryad so she'll help
- Find Elsa (18/F/Enchanted)
- Capture Brigand Leader and Warlock
- Be a Hero
- Find a way to go South (or back East)
- Learn Seven More Spells
- Become a Wizard
To the seed spitters!
These appear to be plants. Let's take a closer look...
You've never seen anything quite like them. They're pretty, in a grotesque way. They are spitting what seems to be some kind of seed.
I bet if I just force their dirty mouths open, the seed will just fall to the ground so I can get it...
*sigh* Fine, I'll come back later when I can burn you all to the ground for your insolence!
Now what else was on that list...
To-Do: - Learn the secret of Erana's Peace to find a spell
- Find flowers, beards and claws to sell to healer for something practical (cash).
- Unleash the awesome power of apples
- Get healer's ring without killing myself throwing or climbing.
- Get a seed from the spitting plants for the dryad so she'll help

- Learn Seven More Spells

Ahh, that's right! I need to get a new spell! Erana's Peace was said to be to the north from town...
The meadow lies covered with a blanket of flowers, unusual for this early in the spring. It is warm, even though surrounded by the late snows of winter.
This place looks promising! Flowers, big tree with fruit, and what's that over there?
A large, carved stone lies flat on the ground. You feel as though someone gentle was watching over you. You feel that you are safe here.
Sure, but maybe the stone was carved naturally, and the safety is from opiate flowers?
The large stone appears to be ancient and deliberately placed. Marks caved into the stone almost look like writing.
Yeah, well maybe it's a cursed rock, and touching it will unleash an unspeakable evil?! I mean, I've already been killed by mushrooms today! How can I know for sure this is Erana's Peace?
The stone has the words "Erana's Peace" carved upon the top. There are some runes carved along the side.
Ok, ok, it's the right place, and I assume that stone holds the secret, then? What are those side runes saying?
It reads: "If they Will is Magic, so shall I share. Open this Stone and claim what is there.
I'll just Open the stone, then.
Open says me!
Score!
The scroll vanishes even as you read the magical runes upon it. You now have the knowledge to cast a "Calm" spell.
+4 Acquire Calm spell (63/500)
A calming spell? I'm invincible now, as no enemy will dare touch me! I'll have to take that out for a test run really soon.
But first, the fruit on that tree looks really enticing...
+2 Eat Erana's fruit (65/500)
Never thought I'd say this, but this fruit makes apples seem...ordinary by comparison. I may have to unload these apples onto a lesser being that would be unable to appreciate this amazing power fruit.
One last thing, in the name of cash...
Now that was productive. Time to test out my new invincibility Calm spell.
Ooh, big scary ogre. Looks like he really wants to beat the ever-living shit out of me. But let's see what he feels like after...this! *casts Calm*
Ha! Doesn't even want to try to fight anymore. What's wrong, ogre, lost the will to fight? That's merely because I now control your feelings!
Oh...
...Shit. So I guess Calm isn't a permanent solution, but it does give me a window of opportunity on most enemies.
(Actually, in the old version of the game, if you tried to cast Calm in battle against a tough enemy, it would be an instant death, as the enemy calmly beat the ever-loving shit out of you. It's useful to avoid fights in general, though.)
Time to fetch the hell out of some monsters!
...
...
Also, what are you using for your screenshots? I don't know if it's me but the text on them seems slightly blurry compared to josh's and mine. Or is it just the way DOSBox is configured? I dunno, just a minor thing which you should pay no attention to because you're putting lots of effort into these updates.

I'm doing DOSBox screenies at 320x240, and then just mass scaling them to 200% using Paint. I'm not sure if it's the filtering that makes them a bit blurry after the scaling or what. How do you guys do it differently?
It's probably the scaling that's making them a bit blurry. I'm running DOSBox at double that size (windowed). I guess that's the difference. No really big deal though!
Fighter - Set 18 - Sunny with a chance of Tornadoes
Well it is Day 8 in beautiful Shapeir! Boy those past couple of days sure seem like they went by faster than normal. Must be because of the hordes of cheering Katta thanking me that their city did not burn down. Time for delicious breakfast.
Oh man another elemental? But it's in the Palace Plaza? That means I don't have to walk THROUGH it when I leave the inn this morning? Rock on. Well I'll just visit up Harik and Aziza since they were the most helpful last time, and I'm sure I'll have this one taken down in a jiffy.
I...ok. Didn't she just dance a few days ago? Not to mention there's a city wide emergency going on? Kattas and their libido, sheesh.
Wait, what the heck are you doing out of your pen? Did that guard bring you over here? Bad guard! Bad guard!
Hang on, why are you walking to...
SON OF A BISCUIT, I just took a shower! Damned Saurus!
You mean you couldn't get a few of your guard buddies to forcefully pull him back to his cage? *sighs* I think I know why the Sultan is looking for a Paladin.
Lets go Roget. No milkbone for you today.
First mucking out the stables in Spielburg, now herding a Saurus here. Will my life on the farm always come back to haunt me? I just want to live the hero's life! What the heck was I even going to do today? I forgot now.
As our hero walks into the Plaza of the Palace looking for more guards to complain to...
Oh yeaaahhh...
Well lets go talk to the intelligent people! First Harik, since I need more pills anyways.
Oh I don't doubt that, but I am NOT going to go ask that gnome for advice again. I'll go talk to Aziza, she's smart and beautiful.
Oh gods no, please, PLEASE don't send me over to him. You're a water lady! Air is even closer to water than fire was! Don't make me go talk to Keapon!
30 muttering minutes later...
Fantastic. Fan-freaking-tastic.
I heard the gusty Air Elemental has a tempestuous relationship with his own twister. They had a whirlwind affair, but it's winding down, if you catch my drift.
Look Keapon, I'm trying to fight the air elemental. Your head is obviously full of it so you know tons about it. Have any advice on how you stop it?
Points: 5 (150) - Ask Keapon about Air Elemental
*reads his Keapon to Hero translation book* So...dump a bunch of dirt on it? Well that will be easy! I mean it's only throwing hurricane force winds around the plaza! At least it won't be hard to find any, there's craploads of sand out there, and...
No really I can find my own dirt.
Well, it WILL save me a trip to the desert I guess.
*sighs* Thanks. I guess. Ok so I have a way to weaken it, I just need something to capture it in. What holds a bunch of air besides you, of course.
Ah ha, useful advice! I'll just go talk to that jerk at the Weapon Shop. Everyone else has been so nice so far about giving me what I need to save the city, I'm sure he'll happily give me his bellows.
Please let there be no gnomes in the next game.
And a pleasant day to you too Mr Sunshine! I'll come back and arm wrestle you with my massive strength later. First, I would like to ask your assistance in saving the city!
Hey hey hey, I'm SAVING the city here. I am keeping you in business and in living condition! Help out this Hero, Harik and the Kattas have!
This guy is SO not getting my Paladin greeting cards this year. Which I plan to have made up. When I actually become a Paladin, of course.
Well seeing as my massive biceps are ready for some action, since I've been clobbering a few dozen jackelmen...bring it on.
Can you feel it? Can you feel the pressure Issur? Can you feel the awesome force of my hero-like strength?
Oh yeah!
Points: 7 (157) - Beat Issur at Arm Wrestling
Don't. Mess. With. Heroes.
Sore loser...Thank you greatly for helping and assisting the city in its time of need! I will be sure to tell the Sultan about your efforts in helping save his city! -Every bit of them-.
Points: 7 (164) - Get the Bellows
Thanks for handing them to me nicely.
A short trip back to the Palace Plaza later.
Alright, I need to get some dirt into this guy. Just throwing it at him didn't work, he just knocked it away. Well do I have muscles, or do I have muscles!
Eye of the Tornado! Now to drop some earth into the middle of this storm to root him.
And now lets use our newly acquired bellows on this poor chap!
Going...
Going...
Gone!
Points: 20 (184) - Capture Air Elemental
This will rock, can I make me a sandstorm out in the desert with these? Hrm maybe not, I would be in it too. Well if I find anyone weak against wind, this might come in handy.
A full day's work! Time to head back to the inn to eat some dinner!
Oh yeah, and watch Shema. Goooooo Shema. Yay.
The Next Day
You are most welcome seller of the pretty flowers!
The Kattas sure know how to show apprecation. Unless weapon seller jerk.
I can't afford that though, but...maybe you could give it to me as a gift? No? Why I'm going to...um...fair enough, a Paladin has no *sigh* need for material goods.
Damn straight! Wait, if Rakeesh is a Paladin, why don't I see him around helping me out? He's technically more heroic than I am! Or...ohhh is this some sort of Paladin initiation thing. Let the new hero do all the dirty work. Sir, I accept the challenge!
Posts
EDIT: Specifically, sometime tonight. I have all the images uploaded, and I've started typing up the update, but we're heading out for a bit to meet someone for dinner.
As a 6'0", 145 lbs. man, I hope you'll appreciate how important it is that I not skip a meal.
Oh and update the OP with my two updates as well when you do your post.
And you do realize that you just get looks of disgust from 99% of people when you complain about being skinny? I know I do
We spend the rest of the day training. After a while, we get tired of beating Uhura and head out into the desert.
We run into some brigands...
and some scorpions.
Whew, I'm bushed. Time for a nap.
Shit. I was almost there. Note to self: improve sneaking abilities.
What in the name of all that is acceptable...
Oh man! I've heard of this but it has never happened to me before.
Here, have a video so you can see this Easter egg for yourself.
Steam // Secret Satan
Having captured the fire elemental, our hero now goes back to his usual duties.
... Stupid lamp ... Freakin Frakum ... no damn flamethrower ...
EditEditEdit: ok all fixed.

Edit: Finally fixed the last few things in set 17.
I still stand by my suggestion of playing through game 3 as a magic user, rather than a thief.
Jim Darkmagic will soon rise (and die often, as humorously as possible).
Magic User 1 - Enter the Darkmagic
Parry?
To-Do:
- Be a Hero
To-Do:
- Learn Nine Eight More Spells
So where is this hut of hers, then, so I might explore burn avoid it?
To-Do:
- Avoid Find Baba Yaga
To-Do:
- Learn the secret of Erana's Peace to find a spell
- Find Baba Yaga
- Talk to Erasmus
- Learn Eight More Spells
- Be a Hero
- Find a way to go South
- Become a Wizard
Quest Tally:
- Notice: Spell components needed. Cash or trade for potions. Inquire at the Healer's.
- Reward for return of lost ring. Inquire at the Healer's.

+6 Read Quest Board (15/500)
Let that be a lesson, kids. Reading pays off! Now to pare this board down to the bare necessities...
To-Do:
- Talk to Healer.
- Talk to Spielburg Castle gates.
- Learn the secret of Erana's Peace to find a spell
- Find Baba Yaga
- Talk to Erasmus
To-Do:
- Unleash the awesome power of apples
- Talk to Healer.
- Talk to Spielburg Castle gates.
- Learn the secret of Erana's Peace to find a spell
- Find Baba Yaga
- Talk to Erasmus
- Be a Hero
- Learn Eight More Spells
- Find a way to go South
- Become a Wizard
+3 Buy apples (19/500)
Continued in Set 1, Part 2
I guess I will hex edit Hamburglar to be a pure Thief in QFG3.
I love the three different characters.

The breeze is cool, but you feel a shiver deeper than just the cold. You are really on your own now in a very dangerous place.
A very dangerous place that finally lets me unleash the fury! Gaze at my awesome magical powers!
Open:5
Zap:10
To-Do:
- Talk to Healer.
To-Do:
- Talk to Spielburg Castle gates named Karl.
- Look for a stable job.
- Find Elsa
- Find Baronet
- Kill Maim Capture Brigand Leader and Warlock
To-Do:
- Look for a stable job.
- Quit stable job
And I'm spent.
Points tally (starting from 27):
+2 Talk to Healer
+1 Talk to Heinrich
+3 Ask Heinrich about brigand leader
+5 Talk to Karl
+1 Enter castle grounds
+1 Talk to weapon master
+5 Work at stables
Total: 45 points of 500
Also, please don't tell me you're actually going to try to skill up all your magic, that would be a horrible waste of time.
Open: 15
Zap: 13
"WHAT DO YOU THINK THIS IS, A REST HOME??? GET TO WORK! NOW!!!
Ugh, screw this castle, I think I'm actually rooting for the brigands now. Soon as I can, I'm out of this dump!
"OK. C'mon over here."
The stableman hands you some coins and says "Now you're five silvers richer."
That's it, I quit!
To-Do:
- Quit stable job
- Find a way to go South (or back East)
To-Do:
- Track down a dryad to help with Elsa
- Find and disenchant Elsa
- Find flowers, mushrooms, beards and claws to sell to healer for something practical (cash).
- Learn the secret of Erana's Peace to find a spell
- Unleash the awesome power of apples
- Get healer's ring without killing myself throwing or climbing.
- Find Baba Yaga
- Talk to Erasmus
- Find Baronet (likely killed by troll bear)
- Capture Brigand Leader and Warlock
- Be a Hero
- Find a way to go South (or back East)
- Learn Seven More Spells
- Become a Wizard
To-Do:
- Track down a dryad to help with Elsa
- Get a seed from the spitting plants for the dryad so she'll help
- Find flowers, mushrooms, beards and claws to sell to healer for something practical (cash).
- Learn the secret of Erana's Peace to find a spell
- Unleash the awesome power of apples
- Get healer's ring without killing myself throwing or climbing.
- Find Baba Yaga
- Talk to Erasmus
- Find Baronet (likely killed by troll bear)
To-Do:
- Learn the secret of Erana's Peace to find a spell
- Find flowers, beards and claws to sell to healer for something practical (cash).
- Unleash the awesome power of apples
- Get healer's ring without killing myself throwing or climbing.
- Get a seed from the spitting plants for the dryad so she'll help
- Find Baba Yaga
- Talk to Erasmus
- Find Baronet (likely killed by troll bear)
- Find Elsa (18/F/Enchanted)
- Capture Brigand Leader and Warlock
- Be a Hero
- Find a way to go South
- Learn Seven More Spells
- Become a Wizard

Who are you talking to?
Er...no one. See you later freedom!
