    well he just hit his drive, so he would be standing in the tee box (not on the green) but you don't see his feet

    a green is visible in the far background and it is green, but judging from the relative height of the flag it seems to be pretty close (like that might be the green from the last hole and maybe there's a bunch of dirt between the green and the next tee box, it happens)

    in conclusion: at least the background isn't a solid color

    I totally didn't even notice there was a background until you guys pointed it out. I love the flag, which was either drawn by his son or the result of a masterful artistic technique of preventing the eye from being drawn to a background element.
