Siver, Condit, Wanderlei, Leben, Faber, Cruz, Guillard, Njokuani, Bowles and Sotiropolous are all fighters with the potential to put out incredibly awesome entertainment
I just hope this card is as generally exciting and entertaining as the free card last weekend. Probably setting myself up for a letdown, but I quite like the amount of scrappers on this card.
We're discussing modern-day, mainstream, sanctioned MMA. Not Japanese freakshows or early-American MMA which was very nearly legislated out of existence.
Toney-Couture was modern-day and sanctioned. And a freakshow. And took place on a PPV maincard for the biggest MMA promotion in the world.
Fedor-Bigfoot was a freakshow too, in terms of how they matched up physically.
Like I said before, I'd pick Cyborg to beat Toney - that includes in a modern-day, sanctioned MMA matchup.
Toney-Couture was a hilarious (in a bad way) moneygrab, and everyone involved - including the the fighters, UFC management, sponsoring athletic commission, judges, ref, announcers, commentators, and ring girls - should be ashamed for having participated in it. But, they were at least both experienced athletes in the same weight class! Not that that means anything.
Fedor-Bigfoot was a normal, sanctioned match between two fighters in the same weight division. Fedor-Choi Hong-man, that was a freakshow between two vastly disparate fighters.
Silva probably out-weighed Fedor by 60 lbs in the ring. In terms of physicality, Fedor was more outmatched by Silva than Cyborg would be against Florian.
In terms of skill difference it's a different story, Fedor is alot closer skill-wise to bigger HWs than Cyborg would be against the top men in her weight class. But that also applies to the lesser-skilled men in that weight class too - there's plenty of 145-lbs men who lack the skill to compete at the elite level as well.
Anyways, the real reason men vs women shouldn't happen is the same reason we don't have knees to downed opponents. It's just aesthetically discomforting, enough so that it would hurt the sport's growth into the mainstream - regardless of whether there's an actual danger to fighter safety or not.
Usually the prelims are 1 hour before the actual show, though. Not three. The main card is live at 6PM, and the prelims started at 3:15PM, instead of the usual 5PM.

That's just the last two prelims. The UFC main card has moved up from 9 pm to 8 pm CST though.
I know how much the first few minutes must have pained you.
Nah, I know Winner is a journeyman, outclassed by many much like Paul Taylor but he is an exiting fighter as a rule. A better coach than fighter though according to some.
That slam was pretty awesome, but definitely not worth it for Tavares.
I'm sorry, I know that this is how you can win a fight, but its boring as shit. Cage grinding is not nearly as exciting as what we saw with the first two fights.

"hay ref Mac Danzig is totally passed out from this shitty choke trust me!"
The "fuck you" was said with love by the way. Oh and not all British fighters, say what you will about some of them, but Winner is a gent.
Otherwise, let's import all those boys over and throw them in a cage. I'll cheer for them if I don't like the other guy more.

It's 6am on Sunday morning here.
The good thing is that the pub opens at 9am for the main card.

It wouldn't work me with the last event. Do you use Firefox? Because I do and I'm wondering if that has anything to do with it.
I hope the judges give this fight to Tavares, they need to stop rewarding these styles of fights.
